Chorrol.com _ Oblivion _ A Magic Spell...

Posted by: Drittz Spartan Sep 21 2005, 06:54 PM

I dont know if anyone has talked about this yet but I have heard a rumor about a spell called Reanimation. This spell allows you to bring back an enemy that you just killed and it will become your minion of destruction. I think that this spell would be cool. Go out and kill a daedric god and bring it back to life and let it reak havock along side you. let me know wat you think.

I have a feeling bethesda testers already thought about that, and reanimation won't work on the powerful daedra.

Posted by: Intestinal Chaos Sep 21 2005, 08:19 PM

Yeah I have a feeling it won't work on any daedra..... but reanimation has been confirmed...

Page 2, first question.

QUOTE(Gavin Carter)
We’ve gone over the spells themselves and taken out some of the more useless ones and added in a number of new ones.  So you’ll see quite a few new effects like Reanimate, an effect that allows you to resurrect a dead NPC and gain him as a follower.

And since Daedra go under the Creatures list their bodies can most likely not be targeted with the Reanimate spell.

I guess it's safe to say that at least they won't be as dumb as in morrowind. To refresh your memory - they didn't attack anyone untill he actually did damage to you. So a screaming guy charges at you and they are still determening if they are a threat tongue.gif

This spell sounds like it might be useful, but I've never been the companion type. I'm okay with summoning some help now and then, but I've always survived by a careful combination of fighting and retreating when necessary. I've never used companions since they tend to die really quickly if you're retreating to save your skin. Although, if you can reanimate many of the things you kill, it might an interesting substitute for summoning.

I've got nothing to back this up, but my impression of it is that it will be of limited duration, similar to a summon, so it should fit in with your current playstyle.

is summoning out?

Posted by: Megil Tel-Zeke Sep 22 2005, 02:06 PM

I don't think so...or at least I hope not. I would really like a non-necromantic method of summing creatures, since though I love the concept of necromancy I am never a necromancer.

Me too. I probably won't use the reanimate ever. Even though the second character I always create is necromancer, I only use him for about 30 minutes before I realize I don't like playing as one.

I didn't mean to imply that summoning was out, just that reanimation would be an interesting additional choice if treated like summoning (ie disposable help). I actually don't know whether summoning will be in or not. I wonder how well you could control a summoned Daedra while battling the forces of Oblivion...

I've been thinking about that too.

I don't know, I quess you couldn't summon, or after a certain point in the game anyways, like when it becomes clear to the Daedra that you are attacking them.

another thought could be the skill requirment to get them is boosted way up, like you would have to be a pwoerful wizard like Divayth Fyr or something.

Another thought would be that if you do summon them they would turn on you

Oh my gosh I could go on like this but I will quit after this becasue they are getting more and more outragious...

OR, if you can "control" a sphere by Killing the Daedra "boss" or by making a deal with the Daedra like if you killed/made-a-deal-with Namira you could summon dark spirits

but yeah those are my 2 cents and of corse it is all speculation and I don't have a clue...

Why would you reanimate a deadra anyway?

After all, you can just summon it back from oblivion...

Posted by: DoomedOne Sep 23 2005, 02:05 AM

I want to reanimate guards and bandits because I heard they respawn to a degree, so I could make infinite armies of them.

Posted by: Soulseeker3.0 Sep 23 2005, 02:16 AM

heh smile.gif that would be fun/cool, kind of like the draft, Elder Scrolls style

Posted by: HardCode Sep 26 2005, 07:10 PM

I am sure there will be a restriction on reanimation, such as only one NPC at a time, or of course a Duration like any other spell. However, it would be interesting to be able to reanimate a lot on NPCs.

Posted by: raistlin Sep 26 2005, 08:28 PM

I dont think you would be able to reanimate a god.If it was a god and you killed it its body probably wouldnt be on our plane of existence.

Posted by: DoomedOne Sep 27 2005, 12:32 AM

No, they leave corpses behind.

Really? When was the last time you killed a god? biggrin.gif

Posted by: DoomedOne Sep 27 2005, 04:47 AM

I haven't but they work the same way as lesser daedra which leave their corpses behind. Then, when the daedra come back that have new bodies.
