I never used them. If anything Ill miss the crossbow a liitle.
Naah, not that much reallly. I've always loved to have a wickedsick powerful dart tho, one hit and the NPC or creature goes dead. But I doubt I will put my mind into that much when playing
I usually use the Bow, if I use marksman, I might use the crossbow in this next game but I don't use darts
i will miss what the crossbow could be in OB, not the crossbow in MW.
I won't miss the crrosbow much but the fact that it's presents wont honor me in this new and wonderful game may afect me.But ho cares I only use the bow any way
.
nope couldn't care less about them, i never used them, never will, they were just annoying.....
I'll especially miss the crossbow, the only decent Zombie slaying weapon in Tamriel.
Never used much of Marksman at all in Morrowind. Arrows were too heavy.
Not not really as I never used marksman weapons in Morrowind. Marksman weapons were pretty bad and held practically no real advantage. I normally used destrcution in its stead. Now that the bow has been revamped I will definately use the marksman system. I think that a good bow should be enough but I never really got attached to the other weapons so I probably don't understand.
Dang it. I just forgot what I was going to say next.
One of my characters was an archer, so I am a big fan of bows. However, the crossbows were more powerful than the bows, so I ended up using the crossbow quite often (until I got the Daedric Bow). Frankly, I like bows more and am not too sorry to see crossbows out of the game.
Dwarven darts in MW = God Killer. Yes I will miss them.
I will miss them not for their purpose, but for their atmosphere, its not the fact that I want to use all these weapons, but the thought that there are all these weapons to use. Historically the imperial legion did use bows rather than crossbows for missle troops, crossbows were only for people who were not skilled in the bow because they are easier to use. I feel the imperial legion will not be the same without this cheap mass produced weapon.
Crossbows make it feel to much like a FPS
The bow has some elegance about it at least
I also think that though it was there in MW lore wise it is to modern a weapon.
I think spears would be possible as a mod afterall they are jus big arrows so all the havoc-ness the arrows have could be applied to a spear. How you would model the throwing I don't know
Dwarven Crossbow and the various Darts in found in Mournhold sewers will be missed, but I'm not too bothered overall... lol
What will Argonians do without spears?
The only concern I have about the lack of crossbows is the difficulty of making a gun mod now.
It would be quite the feat (or at least harder) to make one now... you'd have to create even more custom content instead of just designating it as a "Crossbow Weapon".
Crossbows I don't really care about, but darts are another story. I loved using darts with my sneaky/marksman characters, and would haved loved seeing what they would be like in Oblivion...
I did like the chinese star thingys
If your talking about putting the crossbows from MW into Oblivion. I have to say, I won't miss them. I tried using them, but they were horrible. So I used a bow instead.
If your talking about improving crossbows and putting them in Oblivion. I may be interested.
When this poll first came out, I would have said "no, I won't miss them." However, having just played an assassin who used darts as his major weapon, I've come to appreciate how cool they can be. But I think I'll survive Oblivion without them. I'll just have to get used to using daggers again.
About crossbows: I will admit that the Morrowind implementation of crossbows wasn't that spectactular. But crossbows can be quite powerful if properly designed. I remember hearing that at the height of crossbow usage/design, there were crossbows that could send their bolts through stone walls. Definitely a powerful weapon with great potential. I may miss what they could have been, but I never used them in Morrowind, so I guess I really won't miss them at all.
Hell i'm just hacked off that it was removed purely because of what that stands for. Xbows - levitation - what next eh
I used crossbows, but only a little. I don't mind that the folks at Beth decided to discard the crossbow in exchange for a higher detail bow.
I like bows. ![]()
Crossbows didn't operate smoothly enough for me, so i didn't buy 'em.
I used a dwarven crossbow til I got a daedric bow, which looks awesome and does serious damage. But what I will miss most of all is the ability to be all ninja-like with the lack of shurikens "throwing stars" I liked to get a bunch of those together and just start walking around and hitting things I could barely see and when they got close go all invisible with my mad ninja skills, and at the expense of the samurai go pick up a katana, dai-katana, wakazashi, and tonto. but OH WELL... I guess it's not really all that bad. I will still love OB neway
I would like to see a crossbow in oblivion, but Ill manage. This is where the modding community comes in.
Nah to be honest i was more of a bow user.
I wont miss it that much, but why didnt they just put in it in? I usually use the regular bow but i still liked darts and stuff...
whoa wait...they're getting rid of levitation!?! no way...(sigh) I loved levitation... I'm gonna go cry now...
Well, as stated earlier the crossbows sucked in MW, at least originally, the Marksman mod did them a lot more powerfull and realistic but still I would miss them if they were gone. In Oblivion thats a totally different matter, it could have been amazing to shoot off that strong arrow from a sturdy crossbow just too see your enemy hit by the arrow and pushed back several meters and to the ground. STRIKE!
Throwing weapons? Never used them i MW, to darn expensive, probably wouldn't use them in OB either, they are just boring.
Not a single character i've used was very proficient in the marksman attribute so I am going to have to say no. I think it would be a riot to surprise a Daedroth by pelting him with darts and such as one is trying to come through a portal but the same can be done with a bow.
I was always heavily geared towards melee weapons and such because I am the type to be in the middle of an important and life threatening battle and realize that I have no where near as many bolts or arrows. I will stick to a trusty ole sword!
I just noticed that if you toss a thrown item at a spell bolt (from a targetted spell), the spell gets nullified. Even if the bolt is missed, they're also a good way of interrupting opponents in general.
The same may be true for bows, but their firing rate compared to thrown weapons is just horrendous. I've never tried crossbows, but their firing rate may be decent enough to get the effect.
So yes, I will miss crossbows and thrown items. Despite appearances, they can be a needed friend for high Endurance, low Speed warrior types -- sometimes, the silence charm just doesn't cut it.
I rarely used them myself, but I will miss having to dodge and weave as certain bandits pelt me with throwing weapons.
i could just imagine using thrown weapons with the newly implemented physics. imagine throwing the chinese stars and missing and watching them stick into a wall. that would be totally awesome. not to mension knifes. imagine pinning someone up against a wall and throwing knifes and stars so that they catch their clothes and then stick them to the wall. being an assassin would be the coolest thing ever! to bad that'll never happen (not without mods at least).
As long as there is a bow, the other missle weapons are kind of pointless.
Throwing stars did add a new Stealthy mood to the game and those Enchanted Darts in the Mournhold sewers were a umbrella seller. But I think the new Archery system will more than make up for it.
