This, i beilive, is the US release. We European and Scandinavian have to wait till 24th

Ill be getting it for the xbox 360 a week after my Birthday yeah it will be the 24th because in the UK, well England anyway games are only released on fridays I CANT WAITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

hehe, I've actually been kind of quiet the last days just looking at the forums waiting for the "Release date Released!"-post.. And now, I clicked "refresh" on my browser and voila, it was there, almost like a dream come true... No wait, not almost, it IS a dream come true, heck, I've been dreaming about Oblivion since mid 2004... (subconciously that is ).

Well, let's not have this get over our heads (at least My head), and start the COUNTDOWN!

Huh? Why would they announce something different then? I'm sure the release date is pretty much the same all over the world, as they stated, but it usually takes at least a couple of days extra for EU to get it to their stores. After all there is a bit of distance to cover over the Atlantic .

OMG Someone Pinch me! My compy is pretty much revving in anticipation for Oblivion. Xander (My charater) is jumping in his jail cell waiting for me this is gonna be sweet.... but now that it is so close, how can I hold myself over till then!??!?!

welll, i am in the states and I will still be getting it later than som of you b/c I had to take the slowest shipping option, which means I could get mine as late as the second week of april!

also keep in mind that I don't own a 360, nor can my computer run it, but I am still getting it. put my comp this way, it sometimes lags in guild wars if I remember correctly. That's not to mention the graphics card I need......motherboard....ggraphic card...it's gonna cost as much as my computer originally did....and then some...and maybe a bit more on that too.

I was gonna post this early this morning but I was too busy Whooping and sprinting around my college!
I am in UK, so the release date is the 24th, but I get it early as I have a friend who works in a game's shop (He gets it earlier than me and discounted. Damn him. I will be spending time at his house ) and I paid £5 to get it delivered to my door same day as the shop have it in stock (21st - 23rd. I think they divert some single-packed ones to the local area.). Not much earlier, but it's still at least another 24 hours of potential play time. I hope.

Todd Howard says in the official post anouncing the release date "I think it’s our best game yet". Good thing he's not too braggy but in all reality it is THEIR best game yet. And I'm not saying that Oblivion is better than Daggerfall. The thing is Daggerfall was made by a different team of developers. Oblivion, Morrowind, Battlespire and Redguard were made by Todd Howard's team and Arena and Daggerfall were made by Julian Lefay's team. That's why I'm saying that out of the four games that Todd Howard's team has made Oblivion is the best.

Well that would be nice but i know from years and tears of experiance and wiating for games lol that it will be the 24th of march because games are only released on fridays in England but i see it in a store on the 20th it will be sweet but someone in my local GAME store confirmed it was the 24th and ive pre-ordered the special edition so it will be sweet looking forward to that bonus DVD

I would love it on the 20th but it doesn't seem likely.
I know they're trying to keep the "simultaneous and equality" thing between platforms and region but as sins_to_dark says England just releases on Friday's to be awkward.
I've heard of a few things that have realeased on Monday's and even of shops putting things of high hype (such as Halo 2) on the shelves as soon as they're in and giving people with pre-orders first batch as soon as they arrive.
I don't think they're literally shipping them to the UK, as there is a Take Two HQ in UK, I think. So, a DVD with the data for the Gold build will probably be sent by courrier and instantly thrown on the Magic Mass Copier and Compiler.
(I think pixies do the rest.)

Well, that's my theory. I don't know whether I'm pessimistic or realistic.

So what's your plan? I can't imagine you sticking around here at W4O for so long and then telling us "I won't be getting it". I suppose you'r waiting a while to get your PC upgraded? Or maybe saving up for an X360? Gosh, I wouldn't be able to bear that kind of frustration knowing a game of this caliber is out there while I can't play it.. Just don't break down on us..

It seems that OXM has already released some kind of review. Intriguing. It seems I'll play the game after reading alot of reviews because I don't think my computer can run Oblivion whitout overheating. I was planning of geting Oblivion on the Xbox 360 but I don't even own one!

If my estimating calculations are right, I should have them both within the same week!
I have spent so much money to play this game perfectly, been planning since september last year.

Ah well, Morrowind, we had some good times. But now your time is at an end.

Yes that is true. The times of Morrowind are over. The time of Oblivion has come. And the time of TES 5 is soon to come. A great chapter of waiting is over. Waiting for Oblivion has been a great experience. I've met great people, I've explored some of the best game lore I've ever seen, I've been compelled to read user made fiction and even write fiction of my own. But most of all, I've had fun. heh, well Im glad all my PC specs reach recomended standards (or higher) except for the Grahpics card. Some how I've got to figure out a way to Raise enough money to get that Nvidia Geforce 6800GS and Oblivion CE :\

I'm glad I got my Xbox360 before Oblivion, but I got it too early, as I bought it JUST to play Oblivion without splashing out on PC upgrades, but I'm bored of it as I've completed every game on it... It's just a Jukebox for another 15 days or so.
Everytime I see something which remotely reminds me of Oblivion, I get frustrated, depressed and excited.
I think it's a bug going round that only Oblivion itself can cure!

I know you shouldn't believe everything the retailers tell you but I still asked the shop I preordered from here in Sweden when they were going to have the game. They replied today telling me: "We will have the game in store the 20th march". If they are not utterly optimistics and telling me the truth then this is good news for all of us Europeans since it would mean that the game actually gets shipped early so that it could make it in time for the universal release date.

Oh yeah, and if you swedes (only know Minque, but still) who wishes to know wich store it is: it's "http://www.webhallen.com/" in Stockholm (Sveavägen).

Hmmh, my mait emailed the importer who is bringing Oblivion to Finland, and he sent me a text message today, saying that they will publish it on the 24th, on friday, like usually they do in Finland.. GOD DAMNIT IF THIS IS TRUE!!

mmmh.. Got to mail the shop that i'm ordering the game from, to ask if they're gonna publish it on the 24th or the 20th.. Thats gonna be a nice email to write.. " Hello! Are you going to publish the game on it's official release date, or not? Ummmmm.. Let me think again.."

Hehe, well, I was pretty sincere really. Just told them that I had preordered the game and wanted to know the exact date I could go fetch it, for practical reasons, and that I wanted it as fast as possible . they gently replied "We'll have it in our store the 20th march. Welcome."

Guy in GAME (UK) told me to come on the 24th to collect my CE OB.
He said he'd call if it's any earlier, but I'm willing to bet I wont have it until then.

Affirmative, 24th it is in Scandinavia (Finland atleast). I got a reply to my email, they told that they'll send it on the 23th so that it'll be in the postbox on the 24th.*Sigh*. Well, better late than not at all

So it seems for most of the stores. Guess my store was just VERY optimistic about the date or they just told me the official release-date. Oh well, I can still hope they magically get it the 20th , if not then I guess I'll take a bunch of sleepingpills and sleep til 24th .
