Chorrol.com _ Oblivion _ Guards killing guards. Why?

Posted by: Daedroth Apr 1 2008, 06:40 PM

Hello. I noticed that in Oblivion when you fight against many guards or with many guards sometimes they are fighting each other, and kill each other. I think it is because they sometime hit each other accidently (not sure about the spelling). I just wonder, why! Why do guards kill other guards? It doesn't make much sense to me.

Bad AI. That pretty much explains it. And they're not really into yielding... so I guess you could say that their egos forbid them from letting an accident go.

That AI is annoying sometimes. I saw a thief picking a pocket of some farmer NPC, get caught and killed by guards. Turns out it was one of the sneak trainers I think. Glad I didn't pay for training, he obviously still had a lt to learn tongue.gif

Yup. They basically see ANY strike as an attack, rather than an accident. A simple routine to check WHO struck the blow and a DO NEXT would have solved this silliness. Just sloppy coding- they expected it to be mostly just the PC versus multiple opponents. Another annoyance is those early Fighter's quests where you are "teamed" with 4 or 5 "allies" who constantly get in the way.

"Go fight some OTHER goblin, you idiot! I've got this one!"

Okay. City Swimmer in Bravil pick pocketed a man and got killed. It turned out that she stole a piece of bread tongue.gif
