Chorrol.com _ Oblivion _ To do list

Posted by: Khaan May 31 2005, 06:45 PM

When you get Oblivion (and presuming it works) what is the first thing that you are going to do? apart from stare at the awsome graphics.

Here's mine.

1)Find thishttp://waiting4oblivion.com/images/screenshots/obliv07S.jpg ( it SHALL be mine...)
2)Hunt deer
3)Gaze in wonder at npc's as they go about their lives.
4)Start fights in the street. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Dantrag May 31 2005, 08:39 PM

1) look for easter eggs
2) see if I can use a table knife as a weapon (it made me mad that you couldn't in Morrowind)
3) join the Dark brotherhood.... :evil7:
4) beat the game

Posted by: Ambberfox May 31 2005, 08:47 PM

1) get some sword and try the new fight system
2) test the Havoc-Engine (like smashing bottles and picking up chains)
3) find the nearest wood and start drawing it, as if I was doing a picture of a real landscape
4) get to the local pub and see what new stuff they've added since Morrowind

it's just gonna be sooooooo awesome! :lickinglips:

Posted by: Konradude May 31 2005, 10:39 PM

1)Spend hours fiddling around with character creation
2)Get invitation from thieves guild
3)get bow and arrow and hunt deer, rabbits and sheep.
4) Become amazingwonderfulgladiatordude46 at arena guild

Posted by: MerGirl May 31 2005, 11:46 PM

Ooh...for me, it depends on the character I'll role-play as...

Celia (female Altmer):
1) Play around with character creation/face sliders, etc.
2) Talk to many NPC's to check out Radient AI
3) Check out the Nine Divines
4) Become a healer-type person, and help people
5) Explore caves, etc. and find/talk to vampires

Lilim (female Dunmer):
1) Play around with character creation
2) Locate nearest Thieves Guild hangout or just steal like crazy
or
3) Join Dark Brotherhood
4) Become a kind and ditzy assassin, who usually doesn't like following the rules
5) Look for Argonians and Khajiit and become best friends with them
6) Look for a nice house. (Kill the owner of it, first, of course!)
7) Get rich! and go shopping!
8) Become a werewolf (if there are going to be werewolves in Oblivion)
9) Check out all of the handsome Dunmer and kill off any competition AKA other pretty female Dunmer

Might not happen, but still hoping --> Emma (female Breton):
1) Play around with character creation and try to make character as young as possible
2) Join Arena?
3) Learn Necromancy and gather as many corpses as possible (if possible)
4) Hunt all vampires
5) Explore everywhere
6) Get rich and go shopping!
7) Fight zombies and cute undead skeleton warriors! biggrin.gif

Marigold (female Bosmer):
1) """"character creation
2) Join Thieves Guild immediately
3) Ignore all Khajiit
4) Try out bows and arrows and test out physics
5) Take quests with best rewards
6) Steal a horse
7) Explore, get rich, and go shopping!

5)Complete game[/quote]

Buy a horse? That's so boring! tongue.gif (Just kidding!)
Oh, and killing things? As in monsters or people? smile.gif (My Dunmer girl's going to kill off any other Dunmer females in the area). tongue.gif
What kind of character are you going to be playing, as LoneWolfie? A Redguard? smile.gif

Posted by: Wolfie Jun 1 2005, 12:10 AM

Yup, my favourite race. And by killing things, i mean creastures, bandits, so on and so forth. biggrin.gif
And i could steal a horse but my guys are always honourable knight type guys, who only steal right at the start of the game from the customs and excise place. After that i try to avoid stealing biggrin.gif

Posted by: 9of9 Jun 1 2005, 12:48 AM

And besides, what makes you think the stolen horse won't through you off and break your ribs? ohmy.gif

Posted by: Konradude Jun 1 2005, 10:19 AM

Because ashley cheng(I think) said you cant break ribs!

Anyway what makes you think a bought horse wont throw you off and break your ribs?

Posted by: 9of9 Jun 1 2005, 11:02 AM

Well, if its a good horse it won't like you stealing it and hence throw you off. Possibly alerting its owner in the nearby tavern. Breaking your spine perhaps in that case.

Then I'll make a second mod countering your mod that remakes your fargoth into a giant talking toad.

2. Steal with honor... as in being clever and stealthy...not just taking everything you see out of a poor man's cottage.
3. Morag Tong and Thieves' Guild all the way
4. Get lost. That's always fun.

3. Morag Tong and Thieves' Guild all the way

The Morag Tong won't be in. It's a Morrowind only faction.

Perhaps you were thinking of the Dark Brotherhood?

You're right of course, but for the record, I would join the Morag Tong if I could.

Posted by: Daikirai Jun 6 2005, 03:58 AM

Kirai - - Male Dunmer

1) Find a way to learn the Telekenesis spell, and have some fun with that.
2) Buy/Steal a horse and ride it around for a few hours.
3) Get into some fist fights with by-standers.

Until the game's released, that's all I can think of.

Posted by: Lucidarius Jun 12 2005, 12:26 AM

1) Reading up on the pros and cons of the different birthsigns and races
2) Fool around with character sliders again and again and...
3) Try to complete whole game solely as a magic user
4) Wandering in the forest and be awed by the beauty
5) Watching the RAI in action
6) Ride a horse, but prefer walking (I think)
7) Disabling traps and use them on enemies instead

In short: Putting my real life on hold for as long as possible so I can devote all spare time to playing.

Posted by: darkcootie Jun 12 2005, 12:46 AM

1.I would make a dunmer, breton, or altmer male. Probably altmer since I enjoy being really tall.
2.Find facy clothes. I gotsta look good.
3.Have my character take a nap in the street and see how many people kick me.
4.Play with physics.
5.Join the mages.
6.Try and find Caius Cosades(spelling) and hope he will share his house with me.
7.Join every other guild after I defeat the mages guild quests.
8.Find Sheogorath.
9.And 2 years after getting the game I will defeat the main quest just like I did with morrowind.

Posted by: eldur Jun 27 2005, 03:35 PM

1) Read the manual (and any guide books if they are published...see #2)
2) Try to figure out as much game mechanics as I can to see if their are limits as to what I can learn as a character (I'd like to be a stealthy mage, so I hope their are no skill caps)
3) Play around with character creation for a few hours
4) If I have a guidebook, I'll lock it away so I dont spoil the fun of actually playing.
5) Sleep (since I'll have been up 24 hrs straight reading, installing and creating a character)
6) Explore town and observe the npc behavior AI
7) Test out the exciting things I can do involving ranged and magic combat
8) Really try to sleep this time since it's now been 48 hours and I skipped #5

Posted by: Azul Jun 28 2005, 08:09 AM

I am going out to the woods and live like Walt Whitman.

Posted by: Intestinal Chaos Jul 12 2005, 01:08 AM

-Toss Amulent of Kings in lake
-Start stupid a trivial fights
-Attempt to pickpocket someones pants
-Start life as a commoner

Posted by: Kiln Jul 19 2005, 06:09 AM

I know this is kinda old but I had to post here. The first things I hope to do in Oblivion are,

-Visit every single town to view the different environments
-Visit woods and look for ingredients
-Get a bow and shoot at a deer(I'll probably miss though.)
-Join arena guild and fight
-See if you can really bet on fights like the devs said
-Try main quest and if I don't like it I'll go back to doing my own thing
-Get horse and make money to buy houses
-Take what I need from people but no more than I can use

Posted by: lifeishell91 Jul 20 2005, 09:09 AM

1.) Read manually several times.
2.) Spend several hours on charater creation.
3.) Create a complicated and interesting PC...and fool around with the aesthetics.
4.)Do the Dark Brotherhood, Mages Guilde quests ~ Maybe start MQ.
6.) Explore.
7.) Travel, on foot, from one end of the land mass to the other, almost like the silence oath quest at the Dunmer Temple.
8.) Find little randomn quests to do.
9.) Get lost, and do randomn things.
10.) Finish #4.

I think I'll just walk around in Cyrodiil Region for a moment, doing what ever I feel like before starting on the quest smile.gif

Posted by: MiniCactuar Jul 24 2005, 08:09 PM

1) Mess around with CS
2) Be a tourist..and walk really slowly in front of others.
3) Pillage here and there.
4) Join the Dark Brotherhood..evil..indeed.
5) Main Quest
6) Run around and do everything imaginable.

Posted by: Konradude Jul 25 2005, 01:09 PM

Scrap anything ive said...1)main quest because then i wont have daedra running everywhere! Like getting rid of the blight from red mountain.

Posted by: Nashi_Tai Jul 25 2005, 02:45 PM

1) spend days and several false starts creating the perfect and unique character with a detailed background

2) Wander amlisly through a town watching the NPC's go about their lives and cry at the beuty of it all

3) Try out the new (stealth engine?) and rob blind every rich jerk I find

4) Test out the new bows and get lost in the woods living of the land for months (in game) before starting the mainquest

5) begin planning and desining all sorts of thing I like to make and hopefully be able to do it this time around

(didn't have photoshop untill two months ago, and far to late in getting interested in modling to get a Max that can export .nif -just can't work with Milkshape wacko.gif - sigh)

Posted by: Leraje Jul 27 2005, 09:21 PM

Read all the books after I've found a decent home.

Go hunting!

Look for ways to make money (too bad there isn't a mudcrab sad.gif )

Posted by: Faldwin Sep 17 2005, 02:38 AM

I would Make about 5 different characters in close succession while having fun with character creation. This is what I would do with each
Honest Imperial Knight
1) Do Main Quest until stuck or bored
2) Do stuff for Arena and/or Fighter's Guild until stuck or bored
3) Get rich if not already
4) Use riches to get house, horse and cool stuff

Not-so honest Imperial Knight
1) Ignore Main quest
2) Join Dark Brotherhood and become leader
3) Kill my fellow assasin's
4) Kill people who look at me the wrong way
5) Kill the Emperor
6) Laugh Evilly!

Breton Archer
1) Ignore main quest
2) Get good bow and arrows
3) Get lost in the forest hunting for months only coming to town to buy arrows
4) Get killed by a minotaur then give up on character

Khajiit Thief
1) Ignore main quest
2) Join Thieves Guild and do jobs for them
3) Steal untill rich.

Dunmer Mage
1) Join Mages Guild
2) Do stuff for them
3) Do main quest only when bored

There are some things that I will do first no matter what character I have
1) Test physics system (throw stuff)
2) Be awed by graphics
3) Watch NPC's doing stuff
4) Test out archery system I've heard so much about

Oh, I forgot 3 very important things

Probably because he saw it and wanted to post in it. There's no rule saying you have to leave a thread after a certain number of days you know

Posted by: Fr0zty Sep 17 2005, 10:31 AM

1. spend christmas night on creating a Dunmer Ranger.
2. sleep(at least try).
3. Explore the cities and forests.
4. play around with the AI and physics.
5. Start questing.
6. reading books and get more into the story.
7. join thieves guild and the dark brotherhood.
8. finnish all the guild quests.
9. become the ultimate ranger god.
10. start playing the MQ and finnish it 1 year later.

Maybe because they never had a chance to say anything before and decided to now. So if other people and I read it (you obviously went out of your way to read it) that means it must be a worthwhile post. Now you're probably offended and therefore might decide that it's neccassary to give a retort. Don't bother though, because frankly I don't care.

Posted by: DoomedOne Sep 24 2005, 07:06 PM

It's funny, people tell you

1. You can't make new topics of the same thing that's been done before

2. You can't ressurect old topics

Catch 22, let them ressurect.

Besides, I changed my mind on my to do list anyway.

1. Do the first few Main quest tasks until it feels right that my character wouldn't feel obligated to keep going.

2. Join most of the guilds and integrate reading, exploring, screwing with the physics and doing a few tasks for the guilds now and then, as well as sidequests

3. Keep going on the main quest for a few more tasks

4. Finish a guild or two, giving my character the necessary perks to amke him more bad-boat on the mainquest, as well as on more dungeons.

5. Utilize those perks for some nice dungeon raiding as well as generally making trouble for people and some sidequests.

6. Finish all the guilds

7. Complete the MQ

Time spent: maybe a year

Posted by: ShogunSniper Sep 24 2005, 08:32 PM

addition:

go into a shop with a very large claymore and knock all the stuff off the shelves then run away.

Hmm I´m sure you will!
I will probably spend hours of gameplay just exploring the landscapes......to get familiar with it before I start anything important

Posted by: Gomez' Oct 31 2005, 07:53 PM

I personally, plan to head to Skingrad. And I will walk there manually cool.gif
Once there I plan on buying my clothing, weapons', armor, picks, etc... Afterwards i will blindly wander the town taking in its beauty until nightfall, in-witch I will break into houses and stores, and steal Betterclothing, weapons', armor, picks, Etc... After that’s said and done, I will probably head to Kvatch and check it out before it gets molested by the Deadra. Then ill Fast travel to the imperial city and purposely steal something really valuable in front of somebody and wait to be arrested. Then ill check out the prison, wait for my Thieves guild invitation, and then make the most pacifistic prison break ever!

After that.....ill do what i did in morrowind, wich is looking for something to do kvright.gif

1. play with charackter creation and create that super cute girl I know i real life
2. see if all armors show female ... uuhm... body proportions
3. become a ph34r.gif ninja (Dark Brothers)
4. do every little quest I stumble about
5. build an awesome castle with the CS
6. see if you can train an other gladiator and bet on him
7. sleep, to think about the stuff I learned

Posted by: Epy Nov 6 2005, 03:44 AM

I'm detecting that this is getting increasingly random (read: spammy). Please maintain consistency.

Posted by: Freaky Freddy Nov 13 2005, 02:03 PM

1. learn the manual by heart on the bus
2.spend ages on the character creation thing
3.stop breathing because of the beauty of the graphics
4.following the MQ till i can stand on my own
5.steal a horse and take over the mightiest building in Oblivion
6.load game because i wont survive the assault
7.stop fooling around and get on with the quests (i keep the MQ as the last)

Posted by: Gomez' Nov 14 2005, 12:22 AM

Revised

1.Creat Suthay Raht character, wich so far im sure will be named S'Dorja Burtilius.
2.Creat a Pacafistic Knight, with scoutish tendancies.
3.Sell what i have on me when i leave the castle
4.Buy what im sure will be Iron Armor from the local Merchant.
5.Walk to the next leg of the main quest.
6.Do Missions until i either get bored or i find something funner to do.
7.Repeat last 2 steps for the entire duration of game

Posted by: Jonajosa Nov 14 2005, 12:50 AM

I will follow the main quest. Find their heir and help save the world.

Next I suppose I'll go find some quests to do. Im not very interested in the Factions they are putting in the game so I'll most likely do those last.

Then when I have grown bored of Oblivion i'll sell it and get Gears of War.

Posted by: Unmourned Nov 14 2005, 07:03 AM

Make several characters:

Khajit Thief- For testing the new stealth system, as well as law and penalties.
Altmer Nightblade- For testing magic and guild interaction.
Orc Scout- Exploring terrain, bows and combat.

Then, create my manditory Dunmer assassin, and join Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. Later try out the Arena.

Get myself a comfortable home, city not yet known. Become a soultrapper.

Possibly complete the main quest. Take up vampirism.

Download or create a companion, possibly mod a bit.

And do away with that fast travel option, as it may spoil the aesthetics of the game for me.

If my experince in Oblivion is anything like it was in Morrowind.

I'll probably wind up getting killed in the first 20 minutes. biggrin.gif

It kinda means "edgy"

Well I am assuming we start off in a fairly large city. So I will make a mage/merchant who will feature almost exclusively in the starting city and try to do as many local quests and absorb as much lore as possible, maybe venturing off to explore different smaller citys (if I hear of a bigger city I will wait till my 3rd game to go there) but will mainly avoid wilderness. Following that (or if we start off in a small town for some reason) I will make a ranger type person who will specialise in restoration, archery, short blade, sneak and some alchemy and explore the woods around town and try to find the smallest town possible and settle there and explore. Untill I get bored of the archer than I will make a questing knight who I will be made anyway I like and he will go anywhere and everywhere.

1. I'm going to explore (first thing i do in every Elder-scrolls game tongue.gif)
2. I'm going to look relentlessly for the fabeled unicorn smile.gif
3. I'm going to train my orc up so he can start dungeonering
4. I'm going to find amazing artifacts that make me all powerfull and famous (most notably the skull of corruption evillol.sml.gif)
5. I'm going to go to the arena with my all-powerfull artifacs and be in the hall of fame for the arena (if there is one tongue.gif)
6. I'm going to train all combat skills to 100 and officially become a demi-god.
7. I'm gonna start and complete the main quest.
8. I'm gonna do as many sidequests as i can.
9. I'm going to retire from the adventurous part of my life and buy a house in cyrodiil and become a normal citizen
10. I'm going to be the next king of tamriel (after all of the above is achieved and i have created a mod that lets me be the king tongue.gif)
11. After i have done everything in steps 1-10 i will be ready for TES:5!

Posted by: Curly_G_ Mar 6 2006, 10:13 AM

1) Spend about 3 hours making the perfect character.
2) Run through the woods.
3) Explore Imperial City - buy new armour/clothes - stalk NPCs.
4) Find a mountain and overlook the valleys.
5) Hunt ogre! (or deer... whichever found first.)
6) Raid a dungeon. Sell loot for better clothes.

**Test stealth, magic and combat along the way.**

I think you've got your priority wrong.. smile.gif I mean, your first going to spend three hours on char-gen, then run around the woods, then explore the Imperial City.. So how in the world are you going to afford to buy new armours and clothes!? biggrin.gif

Anyway, off with the jokes, there is far too much to do to actually make a to-do-list, althought all your lists will surely help out if I forget something when the game is out. smile.gif But still, I will probably spend my first week running the char-gen over and over again just to try the different class/char-setups. Unless I magically hit the perfect char in first shot (wich has never hapened, ever, and probably never will.)

1- create one sweet a$$ character
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
weeks later- die from starvation and lack of sleep.

Selling wolf pelts and ingredients. Also, I believe there are gold reserves in the Tutorial dungeon.

Posted by: Taillus Mar 7 2006, 04:28 PM

* Going to painstakingly create the absolute perfect looking character as I see it.
* Going to slowly walk around testing minor things and admiring the surroundings.
* Head into town and try a few side quests.
* buy a few things and marvel at the quality of the RAI.
* Head out and train up for the arena getting better weapons and armor.
The list goes on and on and on and on.... I will be definitely using some vacation time for this!

Oh, I see, I just thought it sounded like a rather expensive thing to do right after you get pre-released from jail smile.gif. That's why I'm going to find myself a place to call home... Or atleast were you can get some jobs done smile.gif.

Posted by: Scrotoclease-the-Mighty Mar 8 2006, 12:14 AM

Scrotoclease's to do list:

1) spend hours creating a gigantic muscle-bound surly Nordic Barbarian.
2) Join the fighters guild, raid their chest and destroy anybody foolish enough to stand before my might in the arena!
3) Make some money and buy (yes BUY) a horse and home in the most fitting town i find.
4)Wake up my neighbor with a longsword throught the chest so that i may join the dark brotherhood. (yes a stealthy barbarian!)viking.gif + emot-ninja1.gif = scrotoclease (+ blackwizardsmile.gif ?)
5) begining at lvl 30+, begin main quest (didn't begin main quest until 2 hours and 50 levels of gameplay in morrowind)
