good ole sword for me, i like them claymores biggrin.gif

i am interested to see how hand to hand has been redone and i will look into that.

Posted by: raistlin Sep 27 2005, 02:49 AM

my personal favorite is the spiked mace (without chain).or if it was really awsome like jet lee it would be fists.

A mace is a mace, whether it has spikes or not. And one with a chain would be called a "Morning Star".

But back on topic, I prefer blades. More speficly, I like Katanas, Dai-Katanas, and CLaymores. But bows and throwing knifes are great too.

Posted by: Megil Tel-Zeke Sep 27 2005, 07:13 PM

bows ^ ^. i can't help it, I can never be the brawny melee fighter. i prefer distance between myself and the target.

i.e. diablo 2=amazon
WC3=darkelves priestess of the moon.
WoW=havent played but if i did it wuld be as a ranged character.
Priston tale=atalanta

yah lol.

Dosent anyone want to talk it out.

Posted by: Intestinal Chaos Sep 28 2005, 04:05 PM

I'm not really sure who didn't pick swords.

Posted by: Soulseeker3.0 Sep 28 2005, 10:26 PM

I picked range, only for the bows

Posted by: b_sinkus Oct 8 2005, 03:03 AM

definitely swords....Umbra is my savior!

Posted by: Nashi_Tai Oct 13 2005, 12:51 PM

Nothin better then picking off enemies with your long bow when their still just little grey blobbs on the horizen; and when they get to close smash them with a giant hammer. biggrin.gif

biggrin.gif yes that is always fun

Posted by: Chumbaniya Oct 22 2005, 03:27 PM

Erm, which option would I pick for halberds? They rock!

Posted by: Kiln Oct 22 2005, 04:11 PM

Blade for me, nothing beats a good old sword.

Posted by: minque Oct 22 2005, 04:22 PM

Ha! Nothing beats good old arguing.....hehe Words are like swords..they cut deep and painful! wink.gif

Posted by: Match Oct 23 2005, 08:23 AM

It would be ranged for me if it weren't for the large ammo costs. With that said I must say that I must go with the cost efficiant sword. I less than three broadswords!

Posted by: stevan Oct 28 2005, 01:25 PM

Blade for me.

I like the Naginata (jap. (don't know english name) a short swordblade with a spearhandle, if you didn't know).

I also fall for ..., well either a long shortsword or a short longsword. Both handy and effective in combat. (A Ninjas primary weapon)

I think the Naginata is sorta like the Japanese version of the european halberd.. You know?

Posted by: Dark_Elf_ Nov 3 2005, 11:21 PM

I use axes most of the time, sometimes I'll use a bow.

Posted by: Justinj115 Nov 4 2005, 03:34 AM

it pisses me off, cuz i got really good at my sneak skill. so i could go up and critical strike people, but you can do it with any weapon, so whats the point in having a short blade to be stealthy (even though short blade is coolest, cuz its like a ninja). the short baldes do the least damage compared to the other weapons (besides fist of course). does the game give you any advantages with stealth for using a short blade that i dont know? because i can sneak up on people just as well with a war hammer.

Posted by: Gomez' Nov 4 2005, 06:02 AM

I love Bluntweapons, I just do. Nothing looks for feels as brutally effective at killing than a Mace. And i also love to use bows, due to my marksman bias, and my total real life incompatance at close quarters combat.

Posted by: Momaw Nov 4 2005, 02:47 PM

Marksman for me. Who wants to have their pretty skin sliced up when they could deal with the enemy from a safe distance? smile.gif

A morning-star is a very specific type of flail. All the weapons with a chain are flails. A morning star refers to a flail having one single round ball with spikes. smile.gif There are also flails that have multiple chains, flails with solid balls (no spikes), flails that have caltrop-like ends, flails with rings, flails with cylindrical weights....

Not specifically for stealth, but short blades have a much greater attack speed than all the "big and heavy" weapons. With the big weapons you have to reach back for a second before you can do any real damage. The short blades all have high minimum damage, and a very high attack speed, meaning that you can do near-full damage even if you click as fast as you can. This is especially nice if your short blade is enchanted. They're not so good for sneak attacks, but very good for wading in and taking down an enemy with a frenzy of stabbing.

When you are in Tel Fyr, visit the wizard (the guy in that lovely daedric armor)
somewhere left u can find a small chest with lock lvl 100. when u have unlocked it, u find a daedric amulet or something. Now save the game. Equip the amulet. u will be transported to a daedric temple. Defeat the guy and u get a daedric crescent. (two-handed long blade with paralyse)
Ill try to sen u a pic.

Posted by: Toroabok Nov 11 2005, 07:25 PM

thx, man. i never saw a guy with daedric armor tho. i would remember if i did cuz i would have it lol. i guess it wasnt a katana it was a dai katana lol. the only peice of daedric armor i have is a daedric helm of fear or sumthin i got it at ghostgate.

Posted by: Wolfie Nov 11 2005, 07:37 PM

I always go with longblades, although occasionaly i have a character that has marksman too. That's not too frequent though, because i hate marksman at lower levels

Posted by: King Death Nov 20 2005, 01:09 AM

Yeah, that's why if I ever use Marksman, I make it a major skill.

thats what you do. make it a major and then take the 250 (I think thats the number) iron arrows in the warehouse right next to the census and exercise office(or what ever it is) and I think there might be a bow in there. If not buy one with the money you get from selling all the stuff in there or you can wait 'till pelgaid and either buy a bonemold bow or steal a steel bow from the fort. either way you can basically kill any monsters and low level bandits with that combo. (Lvl 30 marksman, 250 iron arrows, and the bow)

Posted by: Momaw Nov 21 2005, 06:43 AM

Marksman isn't any harder to improve than other skills. *shrug* Or any more expensive. Personally I don't have any "gaming moral" objections to training a skill to maybe 20 or 25, where you can actually start to learn on your own somewhat. There's thousands of free arrows laying around, and plenty of slow enemies you can practice on, so...

Yeah, but I'll have my long blade at 100 and both blunt and axe at about 75, and I just never feel like wasting my time getting my marksman up

Posted by: Rattenkoph Jan 30 2006, 09:45 AM

Most of the time i use my Sunder, with a deadric towershield (constant effect +45 strengt biggrin.gif ) I like ranged too, I use Auriel's bow on the guards in Vivec (they've never liked me)

Posted by: Pisces Jan 30 2006, 11:04 AM

Spears and marksman. Though marksman gets kind of repeative when you've had max for days. Spears I love, you can keep the opponent at range while pwning them, I'd miss them in oblivion but with the new intense combat system I don't think I'll notice.

Posted by: Curly_G_ Feb 2 2006, 09:40 PM

Daedric Longsword, Enchanted with Damage Health
Full Daedric Armour with Tower Shield, Enchanted with Fortify Heavy Armour Skill... All clothes Exquisite enchanted with Fortify Strength and an Amulet that Healed 8 HP/sec constant effect.
I am an Xbox player so it wasn't easy to get all that, but, heck! It was worth it.
I love the blades and will be using a Longsword/Bow combo in Oblivion, just to try out the new systems.

Posted by: tymestrike Feb 3 2006, 10:53 AM

I like blunt weapons but that maybe because the enchatments accually get time to work. Then again i still try to make parchement out of my enemys when they leave a hammer around.
smashes the cliffracer another half dozen times

Posted by: jchamber Feb 8 2006, 09:54 PM

I figure I am the only person who would vote for it but where are the spears? You should at least have it there.....I love Illkurak when I got it I used it for most the rest of the main quest and then some. I hate all the other spears as a general rule though...so I have to equally say short blades, espeically glass, I don't like having a weapon lower my loot count b/c of high weight.

Posted by: sins_to_dark Feb 15 2006, 10:44 AM

Has to be long blades for me, nothing beats fighting your opponent with sword and shield espically an equally skillled one, it can lead to epic battles that when you win you feel like you've really won smile.gif

Posted by: Joey1666 Feb 15 2006, 11:42 AM

it has to be sword i loved ebony swords coz they look cool but hu got the deadra claymore (is that wat its called i cant remember) it was lethal with lik 80 attack

Posted by: Darkwing Feb 15 2006, 01:34 PM

Scythe all the way baby.

Axes and Bows Yaaaa wacko.gif

Posted by: Rohugh Feb 21 2006, 10:29 PM

At the moment either Hopesfire or the Stalhrim Longsword of Flame - but usually I am not too fussy as long as it dispatches my enemies

Posted by: 1234king Feb 27 2006, 02:19 AM

im a wood elf most of the time so naturally i make a good thief, so i tend to go spear and bow

Posted by: Catmando Feb 28 2006, 05:18 PM

where are the spears.. i love spears!

Posted by: gamer10 Feb 28 2006, 10:15 PM

Um . . I'm a talk it out/fighting solves nothing kind of person - - -no, i'm lying,

I use blades, mainly long blades, not proficient in short blades.

Posted by: Ola Martin Mar 6 2006, 07:58 PM

I like swords. Especially Lilarcore biggrin.gif , one of the best mods ever.

yahhh the short blade's only advantage is that of looks. Undoubtedly fixed in Oblivion, the shortblade skill was pretty useless until you got to the point when you got Keening. But still, when i made an assassin Cheat character named Überhax, i used a silver dagger to assassinate Vivec with one cheated blow! so, no, to answer your question, shortblades are pretty crappy in MW.

Posted by: jchamber Mar 9 2006, 03:26 AM

and don't forget the difference in weight, you can carry a dozen differently enchanted glass daggers for each hammer you would carry.

Also if you are working on sneaking you are prolly less training strength and more training agility, which is the stat for sneak as well as short blade if I recall correctly...if not you get the idea of targeted training.

Later on when you have max of all the skills and abilities it REALLY doesn't make a difference b/c you will own everything around anyway....
