Chorrol.com _ Older Games _ Riddle

Posted by: Veltan Apr 6 2005, 12:23 AM

Being a worshipper of Sheogorath, I like to come up with riddles in my spare time. This one uses the map of Vvardenfell, and the clues refer to town in the game. Connect the towns in order, and a shape should emerge. I'll check back tomorrow to see if anyone has got it.

Posted by: Veltan Apr 6 2005, 12:26 AM

Start where civilization meets madness
and old gods rise,
Then go to the passageway to ice, then east,
To where the hive mind has fallen.
North, to the end of the world, and back again,
then continue east,
to the headless tribe.
Then south, to the centre of disease,
then east, yet again, to the magical centre.
Up, to the healer and helper,
the back to disease.
South, to the gods, then back to the beginning.
String them together, then see if it fits;
Tell me, what does a N'wah get?

Posted by: jonajosa Apr 6 2005, 12:37 AM

wow...... Im gonna have to find a map!

Posted by: Soulseeker3.0 Apr 6 2005, 02:14 AM

ok, i don't have a map right now but i will guess a sword.

Posted by: Veltan Apr 6 2005, 02:20 AM

Not quite, right track though. It's a rather rude expression.

Posted by: Veltan Apr 6 2005, 11:59 PM

Doesn't anyone want to figure it out?

Posted by: darkcootie Apr 7 2005, 12:05 AM

here is a guess spear

edit:this doesnt include the bloodmoon map does it

Posted by: Veltan Apr 7 2005, 12:12 AM

nope. The image goes about as low as Balmora.
Hint: madness=corprus

Posted by: Channler Apr 7 2005, 03:02 AM

Veltan you should check about see'ing if you can get your riddles into that mod there talking about.. look on the Fan Fic forum, there should be a thread there about it telling you everything.. its a really awsome idea

Posted by: Veltan Apr 7 2005, 04:05 AM

That's an interesting idea. If I can find the rest of my riddles, I'll take a shot at it.

Posted by: minque Apr 7 2005, 07:17 AM

Hm Iīve got the map in front of me, and I figure the start could be Ghostgate, then the second Khuul, the third...hmmm donīt really know..have to think more.... wink.gif

Posted by: Veltan Apr 7 2005, 03:41 PM

Ghostgate is a really good guess, and khuul is right. The beginning is near the coast. (hint- main quest)

Posted by: minque Apr 7 2005, 08:28 PM

ok..so ghostgate was not correct? near the coast you said...could it be Andasreth then?

the hive mind? what is "hive"

the end of the world ....Ald Redaynia?

headless tribe...Ahemmusa?
center of disease ..corprusarium..Tel Fyr?
magical center..Sadrith Mora?
healer and helper...must be Aryon!
back to disease....tel fyr again?

ohhh help me am I on the right path? :lickinglips2:

Posted by: Veltan Apr 8 2005, 12:55 AM

You're really close, only Andasareth and Ald Redaynia are wrong.
1. I forget where Andasareth is, but try looking in the bitter coast region.
2. It's a few islands east of Ald redaynia.
3. scribs smile.gif

I hope this helps you figure it out.

Posted by: minque Apr 8 2005, 07:15 AM

hehe...yayy

Bitter Coast.....Hlormaren?

East of Ald Redaynia......ok so Dagon Fell or Ald Daedroth

did you say hive=scribs?? hmmm

when I have the places right Iīll se which figure it is.....

hehe this was fun! :goodjob:

looks like an insect...... biggrin.gif

Posted by: Veltan Apr 8 2005, 05:14 PM

haha... I messed up.
I was in school when I did this, so I didn;t have the map directly in front of me I didn't realize that Tel Vos was so far west or that the Shrine of Azura was so far south.
To make it look sort of right,
1) go to Indoranyon instead of Tel Vos and
2) Forget the part about the Shrine of Azura, and go back to the beginning from Tel Fyr.
I'm sorry if I messed people up or made them mad because of my mistakes, but hopefully this helps you quite a bit.
And oh ya- The hive mind makes a perfect out-of-the-way base:)

Posted by: Pinehead Apr 8 2005, 05:24 PM

Well, you tried...and I think it was a very good idea.
Still don't get what http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v358/Pinehead/map-morr-enormous2.jpg is though...

Posted by: Veltan Apr 8 2005, 05:26 PM

The "hive mind" isn't Dagoth Ur, it's a bit North.

part of the rules of the forums, when you signed up here, was that you cannot post possibly offensive contents, I'd say this is bordering on it.

now I hate to be mean and such, but I strongly suggest keeping things here a little more serious then this, because otherwise I will be forced to close this thread down.

meaning that middle fingers and such are out.

oops, sorry. I promise when I do another riddle it won't be rude. If i'm allowed sad.gif

Oh found the text in romanian:

I have a nice morrowind related riddle for the lot, let's see if you can guess it, probably easy biggrin.gif

here goes:

I'm not right in the head if you know what I mean,
my body, well let's just say it's black.
my heart burns with fire
yet my sides are cool as can be
filled with life
and my legs might be most important,
one divine,
one of royalty
and the rest just as healthy as my sides.

what am I?

might be a bit abstract, but I hope that won't stop you from finding the answer to it smile.gif

Posted by: minque Apr 8 2005, 11:24 PM

Just a quick and probably wrong guess....Vivec :ashamed:

Posted by: Veltan Apr 9 2005, 02:33 AM

hmm... I know it's probably wrong, but Numindium?

Posted by: jonajosa Apr 9 2005, 06:01 AM

1) Not right in the head could mean maybe a face mask that looks wierd or maybe a deformed face.
2) Could mean Black clothing or Armor Possibly skin Tone also. But if this is a physiacl feature it could have to do with ashlands.
3) Center of red mountain? Or the heart at the end of the game. MAybe the personality of someone?
4) Again if this is Red mountain the sides of the mountain would be cool because there is no lava there.
5)Very active
6)Uses legs alot. Could give hint to an animal that uses its legs alot.
7-8) Hints to Culture/Religion?
9) What would be this "rest"? Other parts of the body?

I would think eithier Dagoth Ur himself, Red mountain or some animal or creature.

Posted by: Alexander Apr 9 2005, 09:02 AM

nope, so far you're all wrong.

I won't add hints just yet, but I will say think more abstract smile.gif

Posted by: Oozae Apr 9 2005, 09:28 AM

Vvardenfell or Morrowind?

Posted by: Alexander Apr 9 2005, 10:30 AM

you are correct, the answer is Vvardenfell. smile.gif

Posted by: Oozae Apr 9 2005, 10:35 AM
you are correct, the answer is Vvardenfell. smile.gif
Yes! UberOozae biggrin.gif

I might make a riddle if I feel like it, but probably not. I'll leave it to the experts smile.gif

Posted by: Pinehead Apr 9 2005, 05:37 PM

I once had this riddle I never posted in the official forums. It's very obvious...

I am your ticket to the home of the wizards.
They are mostly served by cats and lizards.
I can help you in doing what you are told.
But you'll need to spare some extra gold.
My services are reserved for all.
As long as they can pay the toll.
My most important possesion lies beneath my feet.
And it is filled with something sweet.
My trade can be found everywhere.
It is my job to take you there.
Who am I?
(Wat een Sinterklaasrijm!)

Posted by: minque Apr 9 2005, 06:01 PM

OK Sinterklaas, (itīs not christmas now you know... biggrin.gif )

Not sooo easy, has it something to do with Moon-sugar?

Posted by: Veltan Apr 9 2005, 06:15 PM

Is it the Elf-Skerring in Sadrith Mora?

Posted by: minque Apr 9 2005, 06:24 PM

ahh maybe thatīs it.....could be though, but the sweet thing whatīs sweet in Elf-Skerring?

Posted by: Pinehead Apr 9 2005, 07:41 PM
Is it the Elf-Skerring in Sadrith Mora?
Elf-Skerring is a boat, not a person.
OK Sinterklaas, (itīs not christmas now you know... )
It's not? Man, I gotta cut down on the skooma then... (Sinterklaas is better than Santa!)

Posted by: minque Apr 10 2005, 09:35 PM

Posted by: minque Apr 11 2005, 08:33 PM

Gals Arethi, boat-driver in Sadrith Mora.... :ashamed:

Posted by: Pinehead Apr 11 2005, 09:21 PM

Is there really A riddle man? There ar some more fanatic riddlers like, uhh... Perseus, Azura's Star, Cheeselikesubstance only to name a few. Khabalox is more of a poet isn't he?

Posted by: Sinder Velvin Apr 15 2005, 07:02 PM

To solve my riddle
Thou must look at the sun
Then walk on the path
Leading away from the dawn.
To the gateway's north
You must walk forth
To the forest of stone
Houses the color of bone.
Halfway through the place
To the water point your face
Drop down with a splash
But pray, do not be brash
For you must follow the stream
Until the spot where you deem
That by looking in the way
Where the sun falls first
You can honestly say
That within a verst
A certain village lies.
Now, if you are wise
You know the mileage
So you can easily speak
The name of the village
Or messily make a pick.

Posted by: Pinehead Apr 15 2005, 07:36 PM

I'm tempted to say Holomayan, but that isn't a village is it?

Posted by: DoomedOne Apr 15 2005, 09:28 PM

It's not.

You need hints.

To solve my riddle
Thou must look at the sun
Then walk on the path
Leading away from the dawn.

West.

To the gateway's north
You must walk forth

North of Seyda Neen.

Posted by: DoomedOne Apr 16 2005, 08:11 AM

I got the west part but stupidly I thought you were speaking realistically. Anyway, it's Balmora. You speaked of in the centers there's water, the river, yeah, I know.

Oooooh can I ask one now?

You didn't get it.

While the path might go through Balmora, the village at the end is not Balmora.

Not a lot of water near Caldera. tongue.gif
Oh, I'm a bit confused by it all... Fort Moonmoth?
You don't get to Fort Moonmoth by following the stream.
But it ends at Balmora, right?

Posted by: DoomedOne Apr 16 2005, 09:26 AM

Okay I'm going to do this now:

To solve my riddle
Thou must look at the sun
Then walk on the path
Leading away from the dawn.

Since you start at Seyda Neen, it's obviously seyda neen

To the gateway's north
You must walk forth
To the forest of stone
Houses the color of bone.

Yeah, Balmora

Halfway through the place
To the water point your face
Drop down with a splash
But pray, do not be brash
For you must follow the stream
Until the spot where you deem
That by looking in the way
Where the sun falls first

At first I though this meant follow the river north, but it never said that, in fact, the water goes south west.

You can honestly say
That within a verst
A certain village lies.
Now, if you are wise
You know the mileage
So you can easily speak
The name of the village
Or messily make a pick.

Okay, it's a little vague, but I'm going to say Hla Oad

Posted by: Pinehead Apr 16 2005, 09:29 AM

How about Suran?

That is correct.
How about Suran?
Suran is not to the west.

Where the sun falls first = dusk = west.

Number pattern. See, it's a sequence of numbers, seemingly random 1s, 2s, and 3s. You have to tell me what sequence of numbers comes next.

This is a hard one. Answer it after we're done with DoomedOne's.

In the land of snow and ice
Go north, to the place
Where the waters meet thrice.
The path that you must face
Leads to the lair of the giant
Who is served by goblin kin
Who make him their tyrant.
Don't go that path, friend;
Instead go behind yourself.
Step backwards till the end
Of the shore near the spot
Where a goblin is elf;
Or thus people speak,
But these people aren't meek.
So go to the hall
Where the party is tall.
Then go towards Skyrim fair.
Oh, do not even dare
To go even further
Than the place
Of the natural murder
Of the frozen hare
(We assume that rabbits are men).
What must you do then?
While on the dwarvish contraption
You must make the action
Of going where everything started
Where a body of water
In three ways departed.
Now tell me outlander
But do not speak slander:
What geometrical shape
Did you get when you
Dragged your cape?

Sinder yours doesn't quite work because of the difference the ross have. Number of digits went 1, 2, 2, 4, 6 6, 8, 10.

The reason I said that is because otherwise you seem to have a solution. Of course, that's not the solution.

Between two numbers with the same number of digits there is always a number which is the only number with that number of digits.

I followed the pattern.

Another one of my horrible riddles. An easy one.

In the city of light, the city of magic,
You must go to the place
Where there is a play of a tale that is tragic.
To exactly the other side of the city you must race
Then look towards where dusk meets north,
And see a nice manor, right in your face.
What is the name of the manor? Tell me, come forth.

So the answer is 31131211131221

I just thought of a riddle based mon what that last guy said that left but Ineed to phrase it differently.

I am Ulyssus, an Imperial soldier. I have a cut up sword and shield, and dirty armor covered in mud. There are a lot of us, how many?

One?

Also I thought of a riddle.

My relative shelters shelters.
A house calls him home.
No one talks to him,
but he's never alone.
Who is he?

No jona, one has already been guessed.

There is a very easy answer to this riddle, but like many riddles you have to think outside the box.

Posted by: 9of9 Jun 7 2005, 10:24 AM

Umm... none? tongue.gif

Posted by: DoomedOne Jun 7 2005, 10:12 PM

No

to the other riddle, my next guess would be fence

Posted by: Red Jun 9 2005, 04:24 AM

Nope.

Posted by: Red Jun 25 2005, 04:35 PM

Okay, since none of you can get my riddle, it's the Emporer crab's shell.

EDIT: I wrote the wrong thing.

Posted by: Rane Jun 25 2005, 04:42 PM
Okay, since none of you can get my riddle, it's the Ald' Ruhn manor district. Tricky, eh?
Not really the Manor District.

The answer was the shell of the Emperor Crab.

The Manor District is just built within a part of it.

Posted by: Red Jun 25 2005, 08:37 PM

Ooops, put that down wrong. I meant to say the Emporer crab's shell, but I got it written down wrong.
