I have the Xbox version, and I feel right at home playing it with the xbox's controller. I went over to my friend's house, and I played his Morrowind on his computer (he has the com and xbox versions, lucky) and I was so frustrated about how awkward it was! I was wondering if anyone has experienced PC vs Xbox problems like this?
Awkward? Like how? If you mean controls, I can understand. :ashamed: Besides that, I don't see how it is more awkward than the X-Box... (I have both X-Box and PC versions).
You should see how many of these threads we get on the official forums.
Anyway, PC is my preference because of the large amount of buttons/keys to assign spells and such too.
Yes, I was reffering to the controls. I just like the feeling of holding the controller in your hand, and I found it very uncomfortable stretching my hands across the keyboard trying to reach all the buttons.
I remember that I was so uncoordinate with the controls that I wandered out to Pelagiad and got killed by a rat lol.
Well it is just a matter of getting used to the controls, I had trouble with the X-Box and the PC controls. It is hard to deside on which I like more though...
*chanting* PC! PC! PC! PC!
I don't have an Xbox anyway so it's a moot point, but I don't think console gaming suits slower paced RPGs like the Elder Scrolls as well as the PC does. You're going to need more than just the (insert number of keys on an Xbox controller) buttons you get on an Xbox controller to configure all of the games spells and abilities, plus I love my keyboard anyway.
I have it one XBox, but i'm going to try and convince my mam to buy it for me for pc soon

Well they got the controls onto the X-Box pretty good. I like them, its a bit easier to do somethings, like alchemy.
I agree with Zelda_Zealot, Bethesda did a good job of transferring the controls to Xbox. I hope they do the same with Oblivion, but they should be able to.
It should work, after all they do have two more buttens. And I dont see how the controls could be much differant.
Oh, okay. Well, there is the way to cutomize the buttons to your liking. But, I get what you're saying.
But, I also like how the X-Box controller buttons feel so... comfy compared to the computer buttons. But, I feel more controlled with the PC... It's really hard to decide, really.
In my opinion:
Pro of X-Box : It's alot easier to take stuff out of your inventory! And it's more easier to do stuff...
Con of X-Box and PC: Holding down/pressing the sneak button is sooooo annoying!
Con of PC: Too awkward and aiming for/at stuff is a bit difficult at times...
Con of X-Box: Too few buttons (I need my quickie-hot-keys!)
Where's the pro of PC?!
One word. Plugins. Good enough pro?
Yeah yeah...does anyone else get loads of errors that ask if yes or no as they are loading the morrowind master file, if they have mods on? I do...
Well either the plugins dont have the nessecery master files, or they are made poorly and have an item with no inventory image for example. So check that, then ask again it I am wrong.
Yeah yeah...does anyone else get loads of errors that ask if yes or no as they are loading the morrowind master file, if they have mods on? I do...
Yup. That's what you should expect from some mods. Or whenever you disable a mod after saving a data file that had that mod activated.
Also, I get that annoying 'error masterfile' comment whenever I boot up Morrowind on the PC. (That's because I had installed Morrowind long before any of the expansion packs came out. I had a few mods BEFORE installing the expansion packs, that's why I'm getting those errors.)
Oh.
PC Pro: MODS!
However, the more mods you add in...
PC Con: Lots of crashing (and sometimes really, really slow loading time and/or frame stuttering)!
X-Box Con: SLOW loading times
The loading times for PC depend apon your computer, for me they are done in a second. However the X-Box is like a sloth. Sssssssssssssssllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwww.

Have you seen the specs of the xbox 360
(Looks at specs sadly as my pc will never be that good.)
I'll be sticking to my Pc though as I dislike... no HATE consoles.
According to the hypeinator the PS2 has doule the terraflops of the XBOX. Bow in awe.

Why do you hate consoleS/
don't hate them because they're beautiful, hate them because they're slow... and easier... and no mods... and, well, the Xbox (and 360) are beautiful.
Here here! He does have a good point after all.
Nah Everyone has there own opinions.
Why do you hate consoleS/
I hate them because they are so hard to controll, even when you are used to playing on one.
E.g. you come round a corner and instead of aiming at somebody, you run around madly trying to get them into your sights.
You can't move the crosshair with enough accuracy.
Once you learn how to it is easly mastered, how else do you think people play Halo?
In reply to MerGirl a while back:
I can never ever understand how anyone could possibly find an analogue stick easier for aiming than a mouse. It baffles me. Considering the precision required in Morrowind to pick up such a simple object as a fork, I would have thought the task, while not the easiest on the PC would be nigh on impossible with the XBox controller
Apart from that though I - and I suspect many others - only hate consoles because I don't have one
Well once you get used to the sensitiveity it is quite easy to pick up something. Since it is pressure sensitive you can control about as easy as the PC.
I have a most all consoles. Well except xbox just because i never got around to buying it. But I have seen my friends play it on xbox and would still prefer PC over any of the xbox's.. Now I just Have to update my pc is all not big deal. Well not really just need a new processor. I just want more out of it.

No, I was thinking more of the moving around was easier to control on the X-Box (aiming is another story). Also, when you want to drop something on the floor out of your inventory really, really, really quick (like that expensive platter in that room where you register your class, etc), you can press one button on the X-Box, and it drops it automatically.
Anyway, I thought the PC controls were... too spread out for me. I mean, just for walking forward, to the side, and back. Then, there's the Spell button and the Weapon button, which I often confused them with the directional buttons. (I'm trying to change the button scheme, but I've gotten so used to the old, awkward one, I get confuzzled alot.)
FYI anyone wants to know I have X-Box, GameCube, PS2, PC, as well as 2 GameBoy Advances and a GBA SP. (Most of my family are casual, but enthusiastic gamers.)
Hehe, i convinced my mam to buy me GOTY for PC today, so in a couple of weeks i'll have it for both PC and XBox
I know it doesn't apply to The Elder Scrolls, but I've always hated shooters on consoles. It's beyond me how anyone can aim with any accuracy without that most marvellous of thingies, the mouse. Having a mosue is also handy when it comes to movement in first person games. The ability to point in exactly the right direction with the mouse, and then go forwards/backwards/strafe is something I'd find hard on a console.
Yeah, FPS games are way better on PC. Analogue sticks aren't versatile enough to aim properly like a mouse can
Does anyone here really aim in Morrowind?
Also, I really only have trouble picking something up if it's something small like a fork or knife. But I really hate the ring in the pond quest, because it's really hard to get it precise.
I never even found the ring, so consider your self lucky.
I've never found that ring. I just kill the woman and her friend, since you have to do it either way
Oh, well its more fun to do the quest.
I've never found that ring. I just kill the woman and her friend, since you have to do it either way
 Me too (in terms of not finding the ring and then killing the lady and that other guy)! I got so bored looking for a ring that just wasn't there. (Unless the ring is invisible or something, and I just didn't notice).
To Veltan: That's what I meant by aiming: Trying to aim the camera towards the item in order to pick it up in the first place.

I've never found that ring. I just kill the woman and her friend, since you have to do it either way
I always look for the ring...and every time it take forever...I just cant ever remember where it is.
To find that ring it is best to use the Night Eye spell I think it is called or something like that. It helps to see in the pond and you will find the ring pretty fast.
To find that ring it is best to use the Night Eye spell I think it is called or something like that. It helps to see in the pond and you will find the ring pretty fast.
....
....
... You're kidding me. You've got to be kidding me. Oh, my gosh! All it requires is a spell which I have never used nor needed in the game, like, ever?!
Note to self: Never play a non-mage character for certain quests.
Another Note to Self: Why didn't that darn lady tell me this?
Does anyone here really aim in Morrowind?

I have trouble picking up similar small objects with the Xbox, aka the Trojan Horse. :paperbag2:
I found that ring by pure chance. That's the scary part.
Actually it is a potion. I have like 4 of them. I will look for the name and post it for those that would like to know. Makes it easier to find.
Actually it is a potion. I have like 4 of them. I will look for the name and post it for those that would like to know. Makes it easier to find.
Well, okay. A potion I never used nor needed for survival so far. :ashamed: My non-mage character only uses health and fatigue potions, and maybe some levitation/feather, waterwalking/breathing (she has a fear of water), fortify strength, invisibility (she's an assassin) and shield potions.
That's it. I never really had to resort to using nighteyes vision (I thought that was used like a torch?) for any quests so far.
To be honest that is the only time I have ever used it. I was tired of looking.. lol.
To be honest that is the only time I have ever used it. I was tired of looking.. lol.
Well, you found the solution, and I'm proud of you! *claps*
Me? I just get frustrated and kill the quest giver or lose him/her on those 'escorting to Molag-whatever-it's-called' and move on with my questing life.
*looks at all unfinished quests in Journal* Hmmm... It seems I have been going on a bit of killing spree lately...
lol I have done that.
Yeah, I think some people have gone a killing spree or two...
Oooh, ooh. Speaking of killing sprees and NPC's:
PC Pro: Console (and TES construction set)! Tee hee! For 'cheats' (*coughs* I mean, testing Mods), resetting NPC's out of your way, moving yourself out of stuck places, and, best of all, reviving important/quest NPC's. Yay for killing sprees! *does a little dance*

I just save before I go on kiling sprees and load afterwards....
Yeah I have done that to because I normally end up getting kille from to many gaurds attacking me.
Yeah I have done that to because I normally end up getting kille from to many gaurds attacking me.
I wish that could happen to me, my character is so powerful I would never die. Even when fighting 12 Ordonaters. Invincibility sucks, good thing I dont play PC that much or I would have 100000 strength, not that one of my characters doesnt anyway (On X-Box) . Point to X-Box.
Oh well then you use codes. I don't my charater pays for all his training and gets it in combat. I do though have quit a bit of strength.
I try to not use codes, but someyimes I have to. But my character with 10000 strength was made on X-Box, so no codes. I am proud of that little Bosmer!
LOL well its all in fun.
What? No, HOW DID YOU GET 10000 STRENGTH ON A X-BOX!!! Stuff? I was expecting that...
What? No, HOW DID YOU GET 10000 STRENGTH ON A X-BOX!!! Stuff? I was expecting that...
No nothing about X-box but since you asked. How did you.
Soul-trap glitch, I will PM you a link about it.
I usually play a pure mage character, and a killing spree is pretty easy with it. I like to call my spell 'Armaggedon'. I killed half of Balmora with it
I did something like that once, only it was 12 dremoras. Instant death.
But I'm also talking about the time that my sister accidently stole something in that place where you register your character (during which you can not save until you get out of there), and then the guards including the one was supposed to give you the package attacked my sister's character, and, well, with console cheats, they all died of course. (My sister's a kind of killing spree person...)
And my sister could not leave the registration room place until she got the package... Whoops! Good thing there's a console cheat that adds the package to my sister's inventory, or she would have had to start over again.
I thought they just give you a warning when you steal there.
Anyway, here's how to steal and keep your items:
pick up the item and the guard will run at you, then drop it before he talks to you. He'll give you a warning and then walk away. Then you can pick it up again and nothing will happen.
Of course, only do this in the character creation place, building, something??

Yup, I did that. *nods* (Yeah, only in the character registration place can you do that).
But, my sister didn't. The guard got to her too fast... They can sure run!

I only steal the limeware stuff...eveyrthing else is worht like 10 gold..
Ten gold goes a long way in those first few hours. If I didn't steal everything that wasn't bolted down, I wouldn't have gotten a steel claymore, aka +3|-| ||008'5 |_|8312 5//012|)!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!1111!!!
+3|-| ||008'5 |_|8312 5//012|)!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!1111!!!
It says 'The n00b's uber sword'
...
Is it scarey i could read that with ease?
You have no idea...
You have no idea...
Then i have found the way to make the ultimAT3E HORROR FILM.
Please dont, I hate scary movies. (No joke.)
I don't hate them just like action movies better or games. humm. :paperbag:
Please dont, I hate scary movies. (No joke.)
I was just kidding, i doubt that would scare normal people.
I also dislike horror films, the only one i watch are the ones with Werewolves in it, and most of those suck. Bad.
Maybe one day there will be a good one....
You have a point there. I have seen a few but wasn't impressed.
I never saw any Werewolf movies . I want to though, I love them. well back on topic...
I realised something.... just how many people here have wolf avatars? I always tell people apart by their avvies and you are all starting to really confuse me
I realised something.... just how many people here have wolf avatars?
4 I believe.
Aki
LoneWolf
Mazuk
Zelda_Zealot
At least mine looks alot differant then the others.
Mine looks the coolest
The sig is cool, but mine is a Werewolf, so HA!

I know exactly what you mean - my first task with any new character is to clear out the whole bookcase room, then go and grab everything out of the sacks in the basement, making sure to include the expensive dreugh wax in the well hidden sack.
Btw, I could read the leet unaided, but it still took a while. I'm not totally leetified yet
Yes, Red is right. Ten gold is alot in the beginning. Especially if I want one of those good weapons in the beginning.
Luckily, I was playing with Lilim, who started out as a Thief and specializes in Stealth. Not to mention, I soon discovered the console. (BIG Pro for PC version for me!) So, I don't have to press that sneak button for hours on end just to level that dumb skill up. My finger was starting to get tired.
But for my other characters, who are not stealth inclined, those 10 gold are worth alot.
In the X-Box version, for some reason, I felt more poor. It was harder for me to sneak and aim to pick up stuff.
Oh, and speaking of avvies, look at all of the cute little wolfies! *cuddles all those with wolf (and werewolf) avatars* :hearts: :hearts:
yay, i gots cuddles
You mean we? *Ahem*
no, she said people with wolves. You have a werewolf. big difference
lol j/k
And i got none, because my avatar is a Husky.
Hmm...
Come to think of it, it may be time for a change...
Aw, do peoples want a cuddle? Okay, how about a cuddles and :hearts: :hearts: for those with wolfies (werewolfies count too!) in their avvies and/or siggies.
no, she said people with wolves. You have a werewolf. big difference

I've ehard of it before. I've never been much a fan of the bloodthristy Werewolf stereotype. Plus, i've seen what the WW looks like in those...
No Fur... :sad2:
And i've heard they move like gorilla... :paperbag:
Meh.
Never heard of it, but Aki's description of it sounds like more then enough for me.
I heard it was good though. Also, I heard it wasn't just stereotype run of the mill were wolf.
Well, if I ever see it somewhere I will check it out.
Aw, do peoples want a cuddle? Okay, how about a cuddles and :hearts: :hearts: for those with wolfies (werewolfies count too!) in their avvies and/or siggies.
Cool, i gets two cuddles
Hmm... Wolf fever? :ashamed:
no wolie's....
do vampires count?
My wolf puppie deserves extra credit.
No...he's scary and evil.
Stupid wolf puppies...
My wolf puppie deserves extra credit.
Aww, that is. Just. SO. Cute! *cuddles* :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
To Dantrag: Vampires are scarwy! But, I'll only give him a *quick cuddle* :hearts: , then run away really fast.
Oh, my gosh! I found a human werewolf person (in the PC version) and fought him, letting him punch me... But I didn't get infected! *cwies*
I wonder if I'll have better luck on the X-Box version?
What was the race of the character? You know that some races have disease resistentce right? That might be why you did not catch it.
What was the race of the character? You know that some races have disease resistentce right? That might be why you did not catch it.
Er, I think I was my Altmer character (Celia) when I was fighting him.... Oh. That could be why.
There was another time, and that was with a Khajiit character... and I still didn't catch it... I must have bad luck trying to get diseased or something.
Well its not a sure fire thing, there is always a chance you wont catch it.
Well its not a sure fire thing, there is always a chance you wont catch it.
Well, I'll just keep trying, I guess. I think I will just download a werewolf mod or something... But it's hard to choose which mod. :ashamed:
Just kill the werewolf and keep opening and closing the body's inventory
Just kill the werewolf and keep opening and closing the body's inventory
You can get the disease that way? Okay, I'll try that if that increases my chances.
My character ran around naked and attacked Werewolves un-armed... but soon I found out that there was a quest as Werewolf so I loaded back to where the sity of Skaal is it? Gets attacked and I did quite many quests as Werewolf... its fun! :lickinglips:
pfft. Look who got a wolf avatar. You're just jumping on the bandwagon
Soo... what was the topic again?
Oh yeah.
A comparison between the X-Box and the PC version of TESIII.
Yeah, I got mine before the cuddles. About 1 day before but still.
pfft. Look who got a wolf avatar. You're just jumping on the bandwagon
Ok I'll just change than.. :verysad:

Right.
