Chorrol.com _ Fan Art _ Geo's Art

Posted by: Geonox Nov 11 2005, 10:02 PM

Hey guys, I realy like this artsection to show off our pretty artworks! Seen some great art here but now it's my turn. I wanted to show some of my old CG work since I made a new one yesterday. Most people know me of my mods or drawings but I'm also a cg artist. So here are some renderings. These are some of my gothic-fantasy artworks I've done, don't see me as a sicko I just like to make strange textures/biodroids tongue.gif...

Some might be offending to some so leave wile you can wink.gif! Actually I don't think they are offending at all but you never know :/

Impressive textures, very different and very unique. I like them. The last one I like the most.

Posted by: Geonox Nov 11 2005, 10:13 PM

thanks ^-^! Yeah the last one was kind of difficult because I wanted it to be a droid without a skin, so you could basicly see what it looks underneath. So I wanted to make the designs the same like the human muscle structure which was a lot of work smile.gif!

Posted by: minque Nov 11 2005, 10:39 PM

They are very unique......and fascinating, I really like them

Oh and the link to the "Darkness" doesn´t work for me!

Cant see it either, think it has something to do with deviant to do, maybe u have to be a member or something to see... Dunno kvleft.gif

But cant u post some of that u posted in TES Geo, that was pretty nice if I remember right - Most was buildings, dungeons etc.. I think smile.gif

Posted by: Megil Tel-Zeke Nov 13 2005, 07:50 PM

I can't view it and I'm a deviant.

Posted by: Konradude Nov 13 2005, 09:52 PM

This si amazing work. Though parts of that last seem a bit flat.

Posted by: Anghardel Dec 17 2005, 01:35 AM

Geo, I absolutely love the stuff I've seen you post, both here (now) and on the elder scrolls forums as well. Though you may not know it, you and Silaria are both pushing me towards a career in illustration, as well as the possibility of computer graphics/animation/modeling with your pieces. Very skillfully done, and the textures you both are able to achieve really astound me. Hopefully I'll be able to smack some stuff down that can compete, at some point in the future smile.gif

Wow, you sure are talented.

I loved the comic, made me laugh for a while. smile.gif

But the one with the "terrifyingly big" monster, is it going to be humorous or not? It's not really clear for me in that preview, it looks very promising either way, and I surelly would like to see more, but it would be cool to actually see a serious comic for changes sake. smile.gif

thanks biggrin.gif it's very easy I noticed that it's easier to draw with a tablet than with a pencil because you can do more detailes on the same scale. I mean 100 % view of a normal peice of paper is a lot bigger than when you hold it in your hand. I got myself the intuous 3 took me some time to get all the money but hey it's an a5 size. Big enough for me, one size bigger wouldbe to much for me. It was pretty expensive I'm kinda broke now tongue.gif

wow, brilliant! that looks excellent. Did youi say what program you were using? If so sorry to trouble you.

Posted by: Geonox Feb 20 2006, 04:38 PM

thanks biggrin.gif it's done in photoshop I got painter withthe tablet but I haven't checked it out since I'm used to ps. But it can be done with any software which alows you to paint, if you have a nice set of custom made brushes [I hate using ps brushes so I make my own] it's not that hard. It's more like what you do with the software instead of what software it is. Some people make extremely nice artworks in paint tongue.gif.

But if you wnat to try it yourself I suggest OpenCanvas 1.1. It's a free opensource painting program. Realy usefull to start with, it's actually better for painting than photoshop. It allows you to rotate the canvas without affecting the sharpness of the painting which is realy easy when you do mouse paintings smile.gif

*pling* ^-^ I know the light tones on the dark grey clouds are a bit irritating I'll try to get rid of em later kvleft.gif

Did some more work on the big artwork. I started working on the second character but I had some trouble with it. The first pose I did was kind of sucky so I had to redo the whole character. In fact I completely scrapped the first character, Ziirah [also from my fanfic] and replaced it with another one which suited the scene better according to the story. Anyways here it is, I know I need to learn how to color within the lines but I'll erase that later laugh.gif Armor and character designs again by me ofcourse ^^

I haven't looked at this thread in awhile, but your stuff's looking great (esspecially that Dahrjin, hehe..)

I say go with the silver armor. Silver's cool. cool.gif

(Though, admitttedly, its' a hard choice to make. The gold one looks cool too.)

Posted by: Soulseeker3.0 Mar 16 2006, 03:56 AM

great rendering Geonox, it is a hard desision because both are great but i'm leanin tward the silver, I don't know if thats just how i've alwaysed seen it and that is normal to me or what, but yeah.

Cheers

thanks guys! yeah I know it depends on what it's for actually, it's for some kind of new indoril group. So the gold gives more status wile the silver looks more powerfull [don't know how to say it] but I'm not sure yet what the armor is going to be for. I might try to put it in OB...smile.gif

Its not neccisarily true that gold gives it more status.

Think on this:

Ordinator = Gold colored
High Ordinator = Silver colored
Her Hand = Silver colored

hmm yeah true but it's just a feeling I get when I look at it biggrin.gif. I mean gold adds more status, silver makes it look more barbarian and evil I guess :/

gehe yeah I know but I don't know it just looks evil to me...Normally if it would be a nice clean armor it would been different I guess but because of all the details it kinda gives me that feeling tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Stick with the silver armour and maybe add some blue deco (vein like deco for instance)

Looks good mate - keep it up

Geonox,
You are fantastically talented! In more than a few art genres, I can see from your entries in this thread. I also really like the way that you answer each and every person who comments on your art, very cordial too.

I absolutely adore 'The Secrets of the Ocean". I like them all, but that is my favorite. How do you feel about someone using your art as their avatar at a website? Is that forbotten or will you allow it with reference to your name or perhaps website? Please let me know if this would be possible - I would so love to use "The Secrets of the Ocean" as a personal avatar. Thank you, either way the answer goes - just for making such enjoyable art!

Geonox,
http://www.testavern.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?187 is a link to show you how I have arranged your artlink. Scroll down to 3rd comment. wink.gif

I tried at first to put it in the Location under the Avatar, but some sites don't even show the location under the Avatar and when I did do it - it wouldn't act like a connecting link. So, I put it over in my Siggy where I know the link can be made.

I will do it this way if you approve, and I go to alot of forums ...... so I will spread the good news about you wherever I go. tee hee

Have you got any new material recently geo?

Posted by: Geonox Apr 22 2006, 12:20 PM

nah not that much I'm realy busy with school and stuff so I don't have the time to do some artworks anymore. I'm or to busy or tired to do a nice artwork. Anways I've done some stuff for friends for their birthday. I'm working on this artwork for a friend who is a huge spiderman fan.

user posted image

The idea was to hang him upside down on a bridge and rotate the artwork as if he was standing on the bridge wile in fact he was hanging upside down. But it was kind of weird so I decided to rotate it back to normal tongue.gif. BUt now it's not that spectaculair anymore it's not a real spiderman pose but it would be to much work to change the whole fig so I decided to keep it this way.

I've also did this artwork for a friend;

user posted image

It's 50% traditional painting 50% ps and illustrator.

uhmmm I also did some shoe designs but I want to do some nice fantasy stuff again -_- mabey some nice 3d renders to get back to the old days biggrin.gif

don't know if I posted em here before but anyways here are some recent quick concept art sketches for a mod I wanted to do for Oblivion. But I can't start working on it because I don't have an exporter yet :/ Well there is one but it's not official and it's not that good, at least not for the stuff I want to do.

sure just visit http://geonox.silgrad.com/ -> Beyond Morrowind. It's my old work tho but still. My biggest mod was castle veldoril which is hosted on planet. Just do a quick search for Geonox. And you'll find it.

Some prev. work which I wanted to do for ob, it's the more quality stuff but they still haven't released an exporter kvleft.gif

I love doing housemods so I kind of had this idea, same which I did in the Eye of Ariisiss; a separate house which wasn't connected with the mainland. This was going to be some kind of tropical like house which was floathing on water ->

Thanks biggrin.gif gehe now the only thing beth has to do is to release an exporter. I think I have been waiting long enough on them. I mean first the game and now no exporter wacko.gif it's like I lose my interrest for modding for ob sad.gif

Posted by: Ibis Apr 26 2006, 11:24 PM

I second your opinion about the exporter, Geo. I think we've waited long enough too.

I've heard people say that it took 2 months after Morrowind started for 3ds max to be attached for modders, but it's been longer than that now since Obilivion's release. They could at least whet our appetites with the information that they are intending to enable modeling.

I really don't see Oblivion taking off much as a game if they don't - not after all the modding/modeling joy that Morrowind brought everyone ... creators and recipients alike. Modding really extended the scope and longevity of the game, I think.

Morrowind is still more viable than Oblivion in alot of ways.

biggrin.gif cool ! I decided to pick up my old comic again but school is killing me sad.gif! I haven't been able to make a nice sketch for a few weeks just because I'm like busy with school and work 24/7. I'm trying to save money for my drivers licence and mabey some new stuff to draw on. I want to experimentate or w/e laugh.gif with different materials for my comic. I thought it would be cool to draw the whole thing on my tablet and print it on special brown or gray conté crayon paper. Then use conté crayons to add the highlights and stuff, scan it again and add different colors with my tablet again. It seems like a lot of work but it's a lot faster than doing it digitaly besides I think it would add a pretty cool digital/traditional effect. ^^ but I haven't got any time to buy myself some stuff. I've been like allmost officially awake for 24 hours now tongue.gif But busybusy I always find time to check my online updates and w/e. Here's a prev screen of the quick render I've been working on, just a basic layout of camera angles poses and w/e.

not that interresting but at least it's an update ^^ it's basicly the fourth page, I need to redo the first three pages :/ I posted the third page here before but for those who are lazy here it is ^^

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f119/Geonox_2/Com_Page3_SM.jpg

I tried to do a standard comic style but I prefer to use my own style which is also easier to do so the comic is going tto look somehwat like the painting I've been working on for so long *quick reminder*

*btw the warrior in the comic is the right blue guy ^^

but then not that detailed because I still got another life to live ^^...Hope to add a nice render of the 4th page next week or this week biggrin.gif but for now, geo 's going to get some well earned sleep whitewizardsmile.gif

Posted by: Konradude May 8 2006, 09:39 PM

Wow, amazing!

Although on the third comic page the tongue seems to be coming from the beasts jaw instead of its throat whereas in the fourth it seems to be from the throat.

Just a bit of constructive critisisism but this is some of the best art I've seen! smile.gif

Posted by: Ibis May 9 2006, 06:04 AM

Totally cool comic, Geonox. The blue guy is also the most interesting looking, fitting that he is the star.

I love your idea of mixing computer with traditional art. I've done a bit of that myself lately. At first I just did art by hand - watercolors & pastel drawings - and then scanned them into the computer.
I discovered that I could repair some of the flaws that had happened during their long storage in some cases ... so I discovered virtual enhancement. I also started getting better at drawing in the msn Paint program & enhancing it with Photo Finish.
Then finally, it occured to me that I could start an artwork in Paint, print it out on artpaper, watercolor on it, scan it back into the comp & then enhance with Photo Finish.

It's very interesting all the possibilities there are....

New race I've been working on for oblivion. laugh.gif Hooray! It still needs to be fixed here and there but I'm getting there. The race should be slider proof if everything is ok so you can still customize it yourself ingame ^^. It comes with a new head model and face texture. I still have some exporting problems but I'm getting there kvleft.gif Anyways hope you like it ...or him...in this case

Oh, .. but still very nice though.

Posted by: Geonox May 16 2006, 02:42 PM

thanks wink.gif But I fixed the head. It looked like the right pic with lightning:

user posted image

but the left one is the fixed one. I still have to change a lot because the oblivion slider system messes the whole head up, it changes the settings. So basicly it still needs some work. As you can see in this screenshot:

user posted image

So I had to do play with the head a little bit more in the editor to make it look like the original model again. I've tested it ingame but the head looks realy strange in the race menu. It's the weird camera angle which makes the heads look totally different than when you view em ingame. I set all settings to 0 but still the game manages to mess up the head. So after some editor work I finally came up with this, which looks 90% like the model.

user posted image

I still have to make minor edits like the chin, cheekbones and make the lips thinner. I'm also working on some new hair models ^^.

hope you like it!

Thanks biggrin.gif I dunnoh I planned to make it the new Irashi-ru but I think the race wasn't that interresting or w/e. So I got this other race idea in my head but I still need to work things out. These are basicly the looks. But it still isn't perfect it has to look like the original mesh ^^. So it still needs a lot of work. I could change the head in the editor, but our best friends at beth managed to mess up the editor. Or at least the facewindow isn;t working for me so I can't change the mesh sad.gif!

Posted by: Ibis May 17 2006, 07:01 AM

It's looking nice Geo, I'm sure you'll get it. When you put a head in the editor, is it like we all can use the sliders and change it a little? How do you put it in anyway?

Posted by: Geonox May 17 2006, 11:32 AM

Thanks! yep you can change it ingame, it has all the sliders like the normal original have. So you can still change it ingame ^^. The only thing what's left to do is to make the head nicer biggrin.gif

whihi biggrin.gif thanks ^^

...but modding just isn't fun anymore. I finally got the hair done and oblivion manages to mess it up for me again. Like I can't even use the custom hair wacko.gif anyways I'm probably to busy with school and stuff. I have to do this 1 min animation. It's not that hard but I always make it to hard for myself. I always want to do it the best I can, but this time I know I can do better. But I can't help it I've been working on it for like 3 days and I got 9 secs done ^^. Imagine 9 x 24 frames/sec. biggrin.gif

Anyways so I had to do something else than modding, or animating. So here it is; I decided to do some more designs. Some nice photoedits. I also posted it in the "real photo" topic or w/e but this is like the stretched out version. Did it for some kind of stupid profile comunity. Not even knowing WHAT in the world I'm doing there but who cares tongue.gif;

That's sad to hear about the modding Geo - I hope you persevere and all - either that or Beth releases some help for this in their exporter thing.

Edit: it's fixed now, and looking very nice indeed!

yah I know but there are so many things which bug me each time. Like everytime I think I can finally start to mod and then something comes in the way :/. That is a beautiful design Geo and so in keeping with your lovely personality. It is very much a shame about modding but I know how you feel. I always loved modding in Morrowind. But I am so hmmmm ... I don't know the word ... unimpressed ... by Oblivion that I haven't even tried the modding yet.

I'm considering just going back to Morrowind exclusively as some other people have done. Maybe Oblivion will get better after an exporter and also after some sequels to put back in the things they've missed from Morrowind.

But don't get discouraged entirely because you have awesome talent! biggrin.gif

ahw thanks Ibis biggrin.gif I know I know that's what I thought of oblivion 2. I thought the same thing about getting back to Morrowind again. Because Oblivion just isn't the same anymore. gehe... biggrin.gif nah it's not that hard, I basicly work a lot with layers and stuff, black and white prints and gradient stuff. I got some custom brushes 2. You can do the dripping effect or watercolor effect by dropping some paint on a sheet of paper and scan it.
If you make a nice abstract design and merge it together in one layer, put another layer with a gradient color on top of it. And set it to overlay you will basicly get the same result as the flower design in the pic.
Just try to look for patterns and shapes in the photograph. For example the print on my shirt, I made it look like there was a flower "growing out of the print". Or like the triangulair [or w/e, gehe at least I tried] shape on the left of the left photograph. Just try to fill up spaces which you think need to be filled up. But don't try to overdo it. ^^ But it would take me a year to tell you how I made this pic tongue.gif

Yeah and on the subject of me coming back here was like... destiny... I was just looking around in the home page and I saw geo's art... and then I had a flash back... this was the first topic I posted on.... back when I was alone and confuse... so I said damn... why have I not check on it for so long... and so I come in here and I get overwhelmed with master artpices...

Kudos Geonox... Kudos

Posted by: Ibis May 25 2006, 10:28 PM

Absolutely amazing, Geo!! Never saw such a sexy elf this side of Vvardenfell nor anywhere else ... Dungeons & Dragons (they have some very Altmerish elves), Lineage ... totally Gothic, gleefully evil dark elves but nowhere near as handsome as Geo's. Where did you get that hair? Wonderful! But is he a Bosmer? I'm not familiar enough with Oblivion elves to tell them apart ... I thought at first he was Dunmer due to the clothing, I think.

Geonox, Mazelure is exactly right, you have a ferociously smoldering intuitive talent .. almost renaissance in nature ... renaissance art applied to modern 3D gaming! It is so refreshing and I hope that you are going to pursue it as a career in some way.
I'm sure you could start working at a gaming company anywhere just on your present talent alone, without even bothering to gather credentials from an art college. But I do hope whatever you do, it will wind up with you sharing this wonderful talent with the world.

Have you ever tried making a Khajiit?

Rainer hears that they are really a challenge.

Posted by: Ibis May 27 2006, 06:54 AM

Rainer, I know you are asking Geo about creating a khajiit from scratch.

Just reminded me that one of my Khajiit characters I made with the sliders of Oblivion's face/gen .... I was going to make her white, but something came over me and I made her bluish, with pink lipstick.

I played her a bit, but it freaked out Cain, my hubby, too much to look over and see a blue khajiit going around Oblivion, even though I gave her nice blue clothing. So, I've changed to a more conventional coloring now...for my new khajiit.

wacko.gif

Out of love ?!? ... or horror??

He shouldn't be too judgemental, she had lovely features and I used the mod that allowed for all races to use all the eyes and hairdos ... so she had bule eyes & the rather stately Orc upswept hair do, in blueish platinum, of course.

I'm also trying to refresh my neglected online portfolio. I'm trying to script this upload code for my site so I can easely create new pages without uploading stuff and such. !

The colour works really well with the brown background there. Don't worry about the brain thing, It looks great as it is and I certainly didn't get the idea that your brains were an empty cardboard.

Instead, with the "Click to open" sign there, it was more of an idea that we were actually entering your brain. It works quite nicely, I think.

I like the "fragile" sticker on the box of brains - that's true as well. Yes, it's great Geo. Hope you are going to post a link for us to the site when it is ready. I love your trademark fancy stuff you add to the background as well as the great art you do itself.
