This is meant to be a place where you can talk about anything without having to stay on topic. Feel free to ask questions, to talk about the things in your life you like to share with your fellow-members. Or just step inside for a while, have a coffe and a good chat!

You may feel free to post whatever you like as long as it is within the rules of the forum.

But if the conversation degrades to spam, you will be treated as though you are spamming anywhere else on the forum. This is a thread where you can relax and talk about personal things, but it is not to be used as an excuse to make pointless posts.

Please help to keep this alive and well and a place where we can meet and share.

Enjoy your stay here!!! wink.gif

Posted by: minque Apr 3 2005, 12:04 AM

Well there can be one here also....I mean you can post whatever you like here in order to create some conversation about anything you want, as long as the generic rules are followed....

You might f.ex ask a random question......or start a discussion about an actual topic, as soon as ppl get the hold of it it can be a very nice place here-.....like in an ordinary cafe..... biggrin.gif

"Greeting's and salutations, stranger. Do you have any news?"

I read very few book's, since I'm very picky about what I read. And I generally don't read anything unless someone has reccommended it to me or I really like what I see in the blurb. The type's of books I read are mostly fantasy. I read Terry Pratchett's books, Raymond E Feist's books, Garth Nix's books, Anne Mcaffrey and a few other one-timer's.

Posted by: jonajosa Apr 3 2005, 05:19 AM

I begin with my normal night shift routine.

I'll have a cake and some coffee please, black and bring alot of sugar packets!

Scfi is what i usally read. Ever read David sherman or Dan Craig?
I also gather ideas about my story by watching the lord of the rings movies over and over. Great sources.

Posted by: minque Apr 3 2005, 10:18 AM

Good Morning all!

*brings in coffee and a lot of small sugar-packs*

*takes fresh bread out of the oven* Don´t burn yourselves...they´re hot!

I really enjoy readin even though I have a little short of time reading at the moment, much fuzz at work and some very tight deadlines arrgh....

But I forgot to mention Tolkien in my "list"....

Care for telling what you guys do normally? Which schools, work and such things!

Me I work at a Nuclear Powr Plant in east Sweden as an engineer, dealing with chemistry (I´m a chemist basically) decontamination, radiation-protection and waste-management. I also sometimes workabroad, that is in Germany....and I just LOVE to work abroad... wink.gif

hm, discussing books are we, well I'm a great Fantasy fan myself.

the best things I've read in fantasy would be the works of Raymond E. Feist, of George R.R. Martin and of Terry Goodkind. possibly even David Eddings and Tolkien thrown in there, and many more but I really couldn't recall of it.

and abou myself, at the moment full time forum junkie tongue.gif and part time telemarketeer, but after the summer I'll be taking up History at the local university, so hopefully I'll be a professor in that some day smile.gif

Hi there, I just registered today. While I was clicking everyones sig over at the official forums I clicked Alexanders avatar (It's everywhere) and I decided I would like to see a more tight-knit community, so I registered. It's a nice forum with some familiar faces, but I feel very stupid and untalented compared to everyone here. I looked through the art and fan-fiction sections and it's just the best of the best. But I'll get better some day, I hope. Anyway, I'd just wanted to say hello to you all (am I rambling?)
I got really drunk for the first time last christmas (I was 15 and still am), but I'm not such an alcohol lover and I know a lot of people who were on alcohol at younger ages. Still, I think alcohol is a bad thing, though being drunk once in a long while can be fun.

Posted by: Soulseeker3.0 Apr 4 2005, 10:16 PM

*cry* I feel left out, i live a boring life.

Posted by: Channler Apr 4 2005, 10:26 PM

Dont touch the booze!

NEwayz.. Welcome pinehead. I'm not really talented at all.. I mean the only thing I'm good at doing is making people angry at me..

But you should check out the RP section.. The story were working on is like 13 pages long insofar.. And the funny thing is you don;t even have to be a good writer.. just creative!

LoneWolf: I´m not familiar with David eddings, what genre is he writing?

Posted by: burntsierra Apr 5 2005, 08:59 PM

David Eddings is a fantasy writer, wrote the Belgariad story, a five volume story. he's very good, if you like reading fantasy. Pawn of Prophecy was really good.

p.s. yes, I'm interested. Searching through every movie place I can think of at the mo to see if I can find anyone releasing them over here.

Posted by: minque Apr 5 2005, 09:07 PM

m´kay...the name Eddings ring a bell...sort of, but i haven´t read anything of him...
Honestly I think someone in UK must have released Mankell-movies...but they´re available here, even though I haven´t bought them, just hired...

Posted by: Wolfie Apr 5 2005, 09:19 PM

David Eddings is a fantasy author.
He's written several series, The Belgariad, The Malloreon (sort of a follow up to The Belgariad), The Elenium and The Tamuli (again, kinod of a follow on to The Elenium)

Posted by: jonajosa Apr 5 2005, 11:20 PM

I like to read David Sherman and Dan Criag. They are scifi writers mostly but they wrote some pretty good fantasy books.

Like- Ambush and blood contact.

Posted by: Pinehead Apr 5 2005, 11:23 PM

Talking about fantasy books, I'm reading 'The Subtle Knife' by Philip Pullman. It's from a 3 book serie and it's really good. But I'm a very slow reader, so I won't finish it until like.. may. I'm really into fantasy books (like most people on these kind of sites I think). I sometimes read several books and I get confused sometimes between all these different worlds. A little while ago I was busy in Discworld(Terry Pratchet), Laws of Magic(Terry Goodkind), the Bible(Who knows?), Lord of the Rings(Guess who) and His Dark Materials(Philip Pullman). When you've done with them, maybe in June you might try Trudi Canavan's "Black Magician" trilogy. I think you'd enjoy them.

1)She is quite a Moderator... And Moderators are quick to anger... Or so I hear. We poor Admins have to do whatever they want us to do. verysad.gif

2)You're a perfectionist? Prove it.
I shall prove that I am a perfectionist, then.

1)The paragraph should be written like so:
Minque is quite a good Moderator, but most Moderators are quick to express their anger. Or so I have heard.

Unfortunately us poor Administrators have to do whatever the Moderators wish us to do verysad.gif

2)These two sentences should be written like so:
You are a perfectionist? Prove it.

You have no power, Sinder biggrin.gif
Discworld
What books have you read so far? And if anyone hasn't read any of Terry Pratchett's books, then I heavily recommend you read them as IMO they are some of the best books you can get your paws on :lickinglips2:

I've read like the first 12 parts or something. 'The Color of Magic' to 'Witches Abroad', I guess. And I've read 'the Thief of Time'. I've read most in dutch. Though they were translated quite good, I expect that the english versions are better. I enjoyed these books a lot.

oh yeah....I think I have a lot of good reading still ahead of me, havent read most of those books you mention! Yay what a pleasure.....

Now, let me prove my powers to darkcootie.

And, just so you know, banning is almost a last resort over here. There are dozens of things that I can do to you.
Hey i'm just trying to stop them getting themselves banned or something. I think Sinder is cool
Thanks. And don't worry about getting banned; the chances of me banning anyone are very slim. I prefer... More creative ways of getting people to behave.

there are four admins here, and we all have the same powers, but a little difference in sections we're more closely related to, and of course we're very different people so we do things very differently.

but yes stargelman would be the head of us since he's the webmaster of the normal site and the host of this forum and such. though as admin here we all have an equal say, that is of course if the mods allow us even to talk sad.gif

and to magtech I think, I love David eddings, read the belgariad, Belgarath, Polgara, and the Mallorean and plan on reading the other books but haven't gotten around to it yet smile.gif

Oh, yes, I've been in Transylvania. But that was a long time ago, and I don't know if I still have any photos.

You can look here, though: http://www.vacance-roumanie.com/rural_acomodation_in_Romania/bran_castle.html
