And finally my new one, I think it looks better tiled than centred, it is a Petrus Van der Velden painting, he is a Dutch artist who lived in New Zealand, one of my favourites.

HyPNO! Iīm not using my own comp at the moment, itīs broken from being struck by lightning...So what Iīm using is a lappy I "borrowed" from my work. At work we have internet explorer as default browser, and I donīt want to download too much on this one because when I return it it has to be clean. Normally I naturally use Mozilla!!!!

And I really like all the desktops here, all of them are nice in my opinion!

Are you sure you're uploading a jpg and not a bmp? The size of a JPG should be a LOT smaller. About 120 KB.

I just wanted to add that this is my screensaver ... http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h155/SunburstStudio/My%20Game%20Characters/new1moonabove.jpg ... it shows the same exact phase of the moon that is going on outside your house. You set the coordinates to your longitude and latitude and set the distance view and whether you want to see trees, stars, clouds, etc.

I like it alot, it makes seeing the real moon when you go outside more intimate somehow.

Posted by: Ibis Jul 12 2006, 11:04 PM

Sorry for the double post, although they are ages apart ... but I wanted to make a nice screenshot of my "1 moon above" screensaver yesterday when it was a nice full moon. This screensaver goes along with the real cycle of the moon and shows it from your exact longitude and latitude. I would recommend it for anyone who has an interest in science or nature. Does anyone else have cool screensavers? I used to have Vincent Van Gogh...that one was nice too.

I wish it was my car. Someday it will be. Whenever I install windowsXP it puts the 'My Computer' icons and everything in the start menu. All I have on the desktop is the recycle bin.

Posted by: Megil Tel-Zeke Jul 14 2006, 05:28 PM

asy way to not have icons on your desktop is to make sure you click "do not add a desktop shortcut" when you install something. and also manually deleting icons. and to get rid of the recycle bin icon just right click on your desktop>arrange icons by> show desktop icons. and voila any icons that were on your desktop dissapear happy.gif.

As far as I know, those places don't exist. The picture (and the rest in the pack) are all created with the http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/ program and then modified with Photoshop 7.

Both are very cool Aki. I see you use Norton System Works, my hubby has that. And the Download Accelerator program - is that good? About all I download is mods for Morrowind and Oblivion and most are small so I guess I don't need to accelerate .. but it might help when I download updates for MMORPG's, hmmm? Or not?

=========

This is my present desktop wallpaper
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g144/Athane/TG2.jpg
It is from the new MMORPG coming out in Fall of 2006 called The Guild 2. It is a medieval re-enactment role playing game. Looks very authentic. Has real towns like Nottingham Village. I think I'm going to like it. I'll have to see what the quests and fighting rules are though.

Posted by: Ibis Aug 30 2006, 05:48 PM

This is my latest desktop wallpaper - for the last few days while I am gathering up files to save before my upcoming reformat. I am reformatting in order to reuse my trial .dds converter programs for modding for Oblivion.

I combined a pic of my previous wallpaper, a screenshot from the 'this fall release' soon to be game, The Guild 2; and the very beginning screens of my screensaver starting over it transparently. The screensaver is called 1MoonAbove.

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g144/Athane/1MoonAboveTheGuild2_.jpg

I like this image and will install it for later as wallpaper ... but my real plans for my permanent new wallpaper after the reformat will be Milanius's Avenger Axe screenshot.

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g144/Athane/AvengerWallpaper.jpg

It will probably have different desktop icons since I am experimenting with different .dds programs for Oblivion modding. I will probably enlarge the Avenger screenshot to fill the whole screen. Here is the wallpaper I am using right now that is from a Morrowind mod that I am making for Black Hand:

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g144/Athane/MWtablewallpaper.jpg

PS - Cain bought 'The Guild', the prequel to 'The Guild 2' yesterday and it's pretty hot. He stayed up all night until 6am anyways playing it. It is realistic medieval society in which you build a strong family dynasty over several 100 years. Very cool!

Posted by: minque Aug 30 2006, 08:18 PM

Ahhh wonderful desktops.....I must admit I havenīt decided yet what Iīll have on this new comp...but when I do Iīll show you!

Posted by: Soulseeker3.0 Aug 31 2006, 01:22 AM

I almost forgot this one, it is my comp tech wall. Scott Ramsoomair from VGcats.com did it and I added my own touch to it via invertion of the colors.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a227/soulseeker789/Gaarawallaper_800.jpg

and here is the http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a227/soulseeker789/Gaarawallaper_800-1.jpg

I think the Inverted one is cooler, almost evil. Expecially the eyes

Posted by: Ibis Aug 31 2006, 02:23 AM

king, to make a picture link ... take a screenshot, edit it in Paint program to look the size and way you want it to. Then go to www.photobucket.com and register for a free account. I think they do email confirmation startup. Then just browse for your foofighters desktop pic (you should actually make it a .jpg in a photo editor program, I think) and then ... copy/paste the link here this way:

[ i_m_g ] foofighters.jpg [/img] ...but without underscores or spaces... those parenthesis are the ones above the '" key & the ENTER key

Or you can send it to me at athane_khagan@yahoo.com and I will display it for you like I did for Mazelure's pic in REal Photos. Please put your name 1234king in the subject line if you do send it.

That's beautiful Jack. Where is that ship from? What game?

Posted by: jack cloudy Oct 17 2006, 09:18 AM

No game, it's the Alternate Space Ship Supremacy which pretty much takes up the role as the good guy ship in a story I'm preparing to write. So yes, this is all my imagination gone wild. I'll try to rebuild the mesh.

(Funny note. The actual three letter prefix got censored. Yes, even in space there is bad language laugh.gif )

For anyone following my Halo fan fiction, note the minimized document I'm working on. And don't ask what I'm doing posting on a forum when I should be writing, I deserve a break.

I was surprised that no one had Vista. Then I saw that the comments were from 2006 which was the year Vista came out, Vista was extremely new. Anyway here's my wallpaper:

I switched from my 9 years old computer to a slightly more modern laptop that's falling apart at the seams. That deserves a celebration and what's better than a new desktop? (standard windows desktops are boring.

Of all the Mazingers, I always thought Mazinger Z was the lamest. It kind of makes sense, since Z is also the oldest Mazinger and animation quality in those days just wasn't so good as it is now. But the dude who made this picture is awesome. Seriously, Mazinger Z looks ten shades of awesome and more badass than Mazinkaiser!

Unfortunately, said laptop has an unofficial graphics driver which results in the most awkward resolution ever. 900 by 900 or somesuch, with a large strip missing on the right side. It also cut off like half the picture, so I put it in my photobucket album. Here's a link and just so we're clear. I DID NOT MAKE THIS BUT I SURE WISH I COULD.

Check out the lower half. Not only is the computer model awesome, but he even manipulated the photo background. There are craters in the concrete where Mazinger put its feet!

This is my desktop... found it randomly one day, while stumbling, and thought it looked awesome. I believe it's called "The Executioner".

Two laptop users in a row tongue.gif. Hey Wolfie, is that computer new. Just thinking because you only have 6 shortcuts..
I switched my desktop to Demongrace's fan wallpaper. It looks so cool.

I recnetly downloaded Automatic Wallpaper Changer which is an entertaining program and well worth the miniscule amount of system power it takes. Basically it cahnges your wallpaper at an interval you specify (I tend to go for the two or three hour mark) to another from the folder you tell it to look in. Thus my desktop is never the same.

Currently:

And yes speedfan does read 58 but the chip hasn't died yet and its been running at that for years (except when oblivion is going when I have to take the resistor out the fan cable or things get very hot).

Yeah, it is. Any other desktop pictures I've posted were taken on the old family pc, the latest is from my new laptop (though new is relative, since I've had it since my birthday in March XD). And yeah, there's a lot less shortcuts... mostly cause I've been trying to avoid having a pile of pointless ones like I used to biggrin.gif

Posted by: Daedroth Aug 18 2008, 07:32 PM

I'm trying that too (as you can see between my two desktops in this thread). I recognized that your was a laptop because of the battery in the left corner. I got this laptop that I'm using now the 12th of December last year. Yes I do know the exact date: Cool huh? (not really)

I wonder how you can be so sure about the exact date? biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Because it was I who bought it.

I just installed Vista, which was rather pointless.. cause I am getting a new drive next week...

So next week I will reinstall Oblivion, Morrowind, Half Life , etc..

But as for the desktop, it is something simple I created in about 1/2 an hour in photoshop.

It's a wallpaper of a band called Within Temptation, which happens to be one of my favorite bands XD

I've got a plain black background with a slightly shrunk-down version of this picture at the center:

Before I changed it to that, it was a picture of two dinosaurs getting it on:

(Well, although I guess a darker background would be nice. All that solid white makes my eyes bleed.)

I tend to cycle through my wallpapers. These ones are my favorites. I tend to use them either "centered" or "tiled."

I use the vanilla express gate background. Really really dull but efficient.

Otherwise, here is my windows desktop. Sorry, I'm not very creative biggrin.gif
