Ok so they're waiting now...all of them. I wonder how Seth feels standing face to face with Helseth? The man who wants him dead?

Those fabricants, I never have seen them, wonder what they look like? I will keep my fingers crossed that the meeting will be of no threat to Sethyas' life. You never know with Kings, they are so unpredictable.

Ok Mr Post-machine, keep them coming. I'm sure I will have a great need for more Sethyas when I come home from work in about 16 hours!

Posted by: Lord Revan Sep 11 2008, 02:51 AM

I find it amusing that Sethyas has problems with the Tribunal (which Rayne respects like many Dunmer), and Rayne is bored by history and investigating ancient objects. Keep this up, Black Hand. goodjob.gif

Wonderful....Seth's conversation with Helseth was very enjoyable, and well written, so well written!

A humorous quote, which made me giggle, so typically Sethyas!:

QUOTE
I did as he bade, and fell to one knee as was expected. The move was apparently as unexpected by him, as me. It seemed to please him, yet also sent him off-center. Which in turn pleased me.

Now the plot thickens, since I haven't played Tribunal I have no idea what's coming up next! I really can't wait to find out.

Now here's another quote I really appreciate:
QUOTE
“My dear Sethyas. Your words and your actions follow different paths. On the one hand, you claim you wish nothing to do with politics, and the aftermath of the Nerevarine Prophecies would seem to confirm that. However, in your ascension to your current place in politics, you slayed those Councilors whom opposed you, and assisted those whom supported you, in not one, but three houses. You killed the head of your house in an Honorable duel, you killed the Archmagister of House Telvanni, you even killed Orvas Dren. Am I leaving anything out?”

“You missed a few Ashkhans, the Temple Ordinators at Ald Daedroth, Sixteen Morag Tong writs, two of whom were Telvanni Councilors, one a Hlaalu, and an Imperial Legion General, all three were allies. And three Hlaalu members whom you ordered killed to consolidate your power, who died at my hand.”

An evening with a new Sethyas is a good evening! wink.gif

Awesome conversation. It progressed logically and entirely in character for both of them. Two great minds meet at last. Bravo!

Interesting intrigues are coming up. Who's plotting against who? It's developing into complexity(?) now...

QUOTE
Was he afraid of me? I don’t know. Perhaps he knew that he had already crossed the line with me. If he crossed it again…nothing would save him. Not the Queen, not Almalexia, not Delitian. I would keep coming until one of us was dead.

Well Seth..ever heard of modesty? biggrin.gif No..I didn't think so biggrin.gif

I want more..... cake.gif

Major continuations here, with loads of undercurrents. Fun reading how Seth's personality and background color his dealings with Helseth.

I hope you will continue really soon!
I'm going away on friday and I would like to....know more really I would...

Pretty pleeeeease Blackie! You know how much I like this story...

I'm afraid I entirely missed the whole "you're the real target" part of that quest. I was honestly paying too much attention to coming out from behind the screen and killing them than what they were actually saying (which is actually quite atypical of me). D'oh! embarrased.gif In any case, you handled it very well.

It's attention to detail like this that I'm going to have to adopt if I ever want to do that ultra-ambitious 2920-style second project I've been vaguely dreaming of making. 'Course, I'll have to finish The Interim first. wink.gif

But enough about me. My point is that this is starting to get really awesome. Keep it up!

Posted by: mplantinga Sep 18 2008, 07:38 PM

The level of intrigue in this story keeps skyrocketing, and I'm finding it quite riveting. Sethyas certainly has great insight into what is going on; much more than I think the king would like him to have. I'm looking forward to a uniquely "Black Hand" take on the fight with Karrod, especially what kind of thoughts you put into his mind as he duels this mighty champion.

Posted by: minque Sep 18 2008, 08:41 PM

Thanks Blackie, another Sethyas was just what I needed this..uhhh very odd day.

I can feel the tension building up here. Makes me wonder...but I'm sure Seth sees through the wicked King. Otherwise he wouldn't be Sethyas.

The only problem I have now is that I probably won't see Sethyas until tuesday night... sad.gif Because I'm going away tomorrow after work...

On the other hand I might have some miiiiiiiiighty good reading when I return! wink.gif

Love it.....

Yes...what is his true purpose? I must admit I haven't a clue, so I guess I'll have to wait and see, (til tuesday?)

Aaaaanyway so he's going out with Rayne? A decent thing to do, the poor girl must have been sick with worry.

A Seth-ish quote:

QUOTE
So our little friend was a bit of a drinker. They wanted me to do what to him exactly? Try to drink him under the table? Poison his drink? Get into a barfight? No. Helseth would be watching me ever closer then usual. None of these things warranted killing a man outside of honorable combat. Assassin I may be, but something about eliminating Karrod prior to the duel just left a bad taste in my mouth. Perhaps it was the Redoran in me.

tongue.gif tongue.gif

Awesome..just awesome

“This buys you my service, and a bit of loyalty too.”

If only true loyalty could be bought. I do hope his new companion doesn't cause him any trouble.

Posted by: minque Sep 22 2008, 10:14 PM

I didn't think Seth was suicidal, but now I don't know...If I was Raynie I'd be terrified for him or at least I'd try to talk him out of it.

But of course you can't talk Sethyas out of something he's in for, so let's hope he and his "loyal" companion really makes it.

Honestly I think they do.

QUOTE

Damn good work here, Black Hand. I mean, I go off on this little canoe trip of mine, and come back with about 8.23 billion updates to read, and every one is bloody wonderful. viking.gif

Posted by: The Bean Sep 23 2008, 11:33 PM

I read this over the last couple of days and what can I say? Bloody brilliant, that's what!

You have managed to craft words with the skill of a truly gifted author, making the plot of both games into something truly special. You have moments of humour, romance, action, tension and philosophy throughout, whilst Sethyas is a brilliantly developed character. Ruthless enough to be an assassin, yet human enough to be likeable, Sethyas seems to be a loveable rogue and one of my favourite characters.

Good show!

Ok Mr Bean! You just said all what I was thinking of saying, I do second every word of it, since Sethyas really IS my favourite charachter, and Serene' as well.. wink.gif

Your poetic, yet intriguing writing style appeals to me very much. I'm so eager to see where this is going, the tension build-up make me shiver from anticipation

That was an excellent update. The interplay between Sethyas and Helseth at the end is truly superb. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they handle things from here, and what the nature of their relationship becomes.

Posted by: canis216 Sep 24 2008, 05:17 PM

Wow!

Posted by: The Bean Sep 24 2008, 10:25 PM

That was an awesome duel there. Not quite as awesome as the one between Sethyas and Venim, but awesome nonetheless.

And whls we're a bit in the vein of picking favourite characters, mine has got to be Rayne.

Posted by: canis216 Sep 24 2008, 10:55 PM

To clarify my earlier response (Wow!), I'd like to say that I direct it (Wow!) to the transformation of Sethyas and Helseth's dispositions towards one another. It is a radical shift, and yet you make it fit, taking total ownership of the Tribunal storyline. The duel was nice too, though I think you've done better. So I guess I'm saying...

Wow!

Posted by: minque Sep 24 2008, 11:29 PM

Yes....oh yes you've done it again! An excellent read after a hard day's work. And as have been pointed out by the rest of your fan-club, the interaction between Helseth and Sethyas was really very well described.

But..can the King be trusted?

In my opinion Seth will have to be alert, he must watch his back, because if I was him...I wouldn't trust His Royal Highness for one lousy bit!

Hmmm waiting very patiently....again

What will happen now? Will he begin to actually like Helseth? tongue.gif

This took awhile to read through including Volume One, but it was well worth it!

The Tale of Sethyas Velas is masterfully written with romance, comedy, and action...usually all within one update. I thought I was going to cry when Ilmeni died. Anyways, loved it! Keep all the updates coming and as many say, postmachine! smile.gif

First of all, it's good. Really good. As for the latest developments, I add my voice to everyone else. It will be interesting to see how Sethyas' new outlook on things will continue to affect him.

This was a beautiful installment , Blackie! So thoughtful and calm if you know what I mean (yes you do! wink.gif ) I read it for the first time very early this morning at the hotel-computer, then I read it again...now, being at home again. I love it, its balm for my mind to read your work....

*sigh* I, too, miss Sethyas, but like any other "machine" even this one might need some time off. I dont't know but I think we'll just have to sit patient and wait.

Ah, I enjoy this quest, if only because a couple (at least) years back in the Lore Forum we had this crazy speculation thread suggesting that Eno Romari was an avatar of Seht. I loved that thread. Almost as good as my joke-post about Charles the Plant being an heir to the Septim Empire. Ah, the Lore Forum.

Posted by: bbqplatypus Nov 23 2008, 06:52 AM

It's great to see another update. I ended up reading through the entirety of Volume II before I got to this, just so I could remember and appreciate the context of the rest of the story.

Terrific work, as usual. Hopefully the next update will come a bit sooner! biggrin.gif

Posted by: minque Nov 23 2008, 03:31 PM

This was indeed most welcome! Gah, reading this made me realise just how much I've missed Sethyas, in fact I had to read through most of volume II just like BBQ! tongue.gif

Anyway I'm glad you found time to make this update, even though I do understand how work affects one's creativity...trust me, I know far too well...

QUOTE
I thought it strange, but a natural feeling as she disrobed me. Not completely, I was not nude in her presence, nor did I think that a 4000 year old beauty such as herself would not have seen anything I had before, but my mind wasn’t in such a low place. It was more like shedding an old skin, and dropping an unnecessary burden.

Now this.....made me think..hmm

I didn’t know what to make of the situation. My head was telling me that his faith was shaken in his Goddess, but in my heart I knew the appearance of a rejected lover when I saw one.

Hah! Of course he would! wink.gif

QUOTE
Eno Romari teaches his followers that our time in Tamriel is at an end, and the gates of Oblivion will soon open and the daedra will walk the land. Only the ancestors who have already left this world will remain once the daedric scourge covers the earth. And so he promotes what he calls "the Cleansing.""

O_o....fateful I'd say, but probably there's a bit of truth in it. Anyway we'll have to wait and see, right?

The tense in this installment is nicely building up...you can almost feel it. Lexie dwells in her quarters, making plans, sending Seth out on a mission, but first she dressed him up in a new armor, I wonder..hehe

Now Seth is very calm and thoughtful these days....I like his approach, and I have the greatest faith in him. He'll be fine, I hope! blink.gif

Oh I especially enjoyed the last part...

What can I say? I'm stunned, truly I am. You'e a poet, Blackie, oh yes I've know that for a very long time, but you're just "doing it" all the time.

His dream is very suggestive, is it the power of the Goddess? or is it just Sethyas being influenced by her, for that is what he is...

Then again it makes me wonder how an anciend goddess can get into his head like she's obviously is beginning to do. can't he resist her? Is Sethyas so vulnerable or is he just desperately seeking ratification??

thank you for a good read, I needed that after yesteday's sorrow...

Intelligent as usual, Sethyas encounter with the techniques of ancient dwemerii...brilliant! He took some heavy risk though! I mean apparently he knew about those chemicals, how they would react and even then he fired at them.

Bold and courageous, but but.....gruesome things could have happened if he hadn' managed to run off.

Calculation or sheer luck?

What dwells in the black hole?

Some questions were answered but even more were raised..makes me anxious to learn more.

Oh and Seth...please....be careful! wink.gif

OK Seth....now you really jumped right into something I hope you can handle without too much pain. A tryst with a goddess is a serious matter. I will certainly keep my fingers crossed, that everything will be ok...phew!

Good update, I especially like the bit about the Nine's virtues. Keep up the good work Black Hand!

Posted by: minque Jun 20 2009, 12:32 AM

Ok so Seth really has a knack for elder women? Or is it the divineness of Lexie that appeals to him? Anyway this whole thing could easily have led to end of story for him, but as you stated he still is alive to tell!

The wandering priestess' s prophecy could have come true...hrmm

You keep impressing me with your wonderful writing, Blackie, you really do! Now I will wait patiently for the continuation.....

(Eh who am I fooling, I'm not a patient person, not when it's about Sethyas.. wink.gif )

Oh and I beg you Seth....be careful huh!

Posted by: canis216 Jun 29 2009, 05:40 PM

I think Sethya's friend Al would disapprove of this combat technique, even though he sports a dagger with similar qualities. When I played through Tribunal with him as a character I believe he resorted to the "climb on rooftop and cut down target in a hail of viper-bolts" method. But then Al doesn't let goddesses mess with his head and make him think he's some kind of warrior-hero. Sethyas needs to mind his mind.

Well done, as ever. I think you try to get a little over-verbose in spots, but you compensate well with images like this: "But I [...] had drank her love like a man drinks wine to forget the pain."

"Hunter loves the Goddess, no?"

"Hunter loves Rayne." I replied sardonically.

Why do I and also don't I believe him? Maybe because he's Sethyas Velas and not an ordinary man...

QUOTE
"And yet, you lead me on, kiss me, even when you know it to be dishonorable. A woman's emotions are not a thing to be played with, much less a Godesses. As you are mortal and young, I can forgive you. But you must very shortly make a choice. And you know what I can offer you, and you, a mortal who will not age, who will live as long his will and fate allows it, this a true blessing to me. Think on it Good Sethyas, but we will not pursue anything until you have chosen."

This last paragraph summarize it all, he must choose, that is obvious, but how can he? It must be very very hard for him, since I believe he has still some feelings for Rayne, yet how can he resist a Goddess? How can he resist the divine powers of Almalexia?

I....only hope he choose the right thing...for his sake!
