Bump, because you are a lazy lot. Suede - By the sea QUOTE She can walk out anytime, anytime she wants to walk out, that's fine, She can walk out anytime, anytime she feels that life has passed her by, And when I start my new life I won't touch the ground, I'm gonna try hard this time not to touch the ground.
He can walk out anytime, anytime he wants to walk out, that's fine, He can walk out anytime, across the sand, into the sea, into the brine, And when I start my new life I won't touch the ground, I1m gonna try hard this time not to touch the ground.
So we sold the car and quit the job and shook some hands and wiped the make-up right off, And we said our good-byes to the bank left Seven Sisters for a room in a seaside shack, And when I start my new life I won't touch the ground, I'm gonna try hard this time not to touch the ground?
...it's by the sea we'll breed ...into the sea we'll bleed...
I don't like Suede, but this song stirs something inside of me. And the singer's sound, usually annoying, is perfect this one time.

QUOTE(stargelman @ Jan 24 2008, 05:25 PM) I'm listening to Genitorturers' "Flesh is the Law" album. Again. Why? Because I got a CD hand-signed by Gen (their lead singer) today. That's reason enough My favorite by far is the song for which the album is named. One of the reasons for that is how Gen can change from screaming at the top of her lungs to actually singing smoothly in a fraction of a second. <scream>YEAH YEAH YEAH!</scream><sing>Flesh is the laaaaaaw!</sing> Heh, what a coincidence - I'm currently listening to that exact same album. Mine of course is not signed Perfect Sunday morning listening to send the folks around me mellowly off to church And yes, her voice is awesome!

Metallica - St. Anger. I must be the only person on the planet to love that song and find meaning in lyrics "I'm madly in anger with you".
Then again, I am not avid Metallica fan. And this is a very un-Metallica song, no solo partitures, no Satriani-type BS from Hammet, just pure, hard-core rampage and fury. And that bass in the opening, as well as middle of the song, awesome.
Morcheeba - Down by the sea. Complete contrast. Relaxing, soothing, mild and the voice of the singer is almost caressing you.
Radiohead - High and Dry. One of the few Radiohead songs that doesn't make my eyes tear up. Great voice by Yorke, great melody, great rhytm.
p.s.: Welcome back Burndth, 'tis nice to see you again

QUOTE(The Metal Mallet @ Mar 16 2008, 03:18 PM) Just starting listen to the new The Ocean CD, "Precambrian". It's a double album that has tracks all named after the Eon, Era, and Periods that compromise the entire Precambrian portion of the world. Pretty interesting stuff so far.
This has nothing to do with the music (because I haven't actually heard it), but since I just came back from Geology class, that sounds like the last thing I would want to listen to right now. Anyway, listening to the track "Scott Taylor" by Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains. The band (as you may have been able to tell from the name) consists of Les Claypool on bass, Buckethead on guitar, Brain on drums, and Bernie Worrel on keyboard. Makes for some pretty weird music. I like many of the songs I've heard from them (Scott Taylor being my favorite), but sometimes they just sound like horrible circus music and I can't take it. I guess you take the good with the bad.

http://www.9inchnails.com/remixes/Reznor is a man who gives more than he receives, but sometimes love fights trough and comes back. "Limitless Potential" fan-remix LP is example of that. You don't even need to steel it anymore. Currently listening to the:pawn.project - Me, I'm Not (Void Mix); a perfect blend of melancholic piano with funky, agitated underlaying guitar and overlaying electronic noise. That sounds cool. What kind of music is it? I'm at work, listening to Falconer (Chapters from a Vale Forlorn) and to be precise, I'm listening to the track The Clarion Call.

I've been playing three cd's to death the last couple of days. First one, I blame Metal Mallet for He's mentioned the band "In Flames" a few times previously in this thread, and I saw they had a new album - "A Sense Of Purpose" - coming out in the UK yesterday, so I thought I'd buy it and see what it's like. Five full plays through, I have a new band I love. It's absolutely fantastic. So my thanks Mallet Second album been playing a lot is "The Alchemy Index Vols 1&2" by "Thrice". I've had this album for about 7 months, and Volumes 3&4 is coming out later this month - and is on my must buy list - so been listening to it again to remind myself just how good they are. For anyone who hasn't heard them, here's a sample track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzX-fkAtIQ0...feature=relatedMy most played cd over the last week though has been "Delusions" by "To-Mera". These are a prog metal band from good old blighty (yay for national pride ), and they're stunning. Again, for those that haven't heard them, here's a sample track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idPtsDr4Yqs

Today I bought The Black Keys' brand-new album, Attack and Release. Interesting stuff--a collaboration with producer Danger Mouse that is a significant departure from their usual sound in many ways... but is still unmistakably a Black Keys record. Official (though oddly incomplete) video for "Strange Times": inspiring Concert performance of same: very niceI haven't found other songs from the album available to listen on-line yet--but the album's only been out like a week and a half, and the Keys are somewhat under-the-radar, so not surprising. In any case, a fascinating album which I'll be listening to a lot in the next few weeks, I'm sure. Edit: Correction, there are more tracks available. Here's one of my favorites, "Things Ain't Like They Used To Be"This post has been edited by canis216: Apr 12 2008, 06:52 AM

Since you've started with their "new" sound, I'd probably suggest that you get the album "Come Clarity" next. From there, I'd say try out "Whoracle", "Clayman", or "Colony" and then follow either of those three with "The Jester Race". Be prepared though for a slight change in their sound. When you look at their discography, they start changing once "Reroute to Remain" was released. Personally, I like their sound before that change better than their newer stuff but "Come Clarity" is definitely their best album which showcases their newer style. Here's some sample songs: In Flames - The Jester Race (from the album, The Jester Race) Definitely my favourite song on that album. In Flames - Leeches (from the album, Come Clarity)This is probably the most vicious sounding song on the album and I actually liked the clean vocals used on this song. In Flames - Episode 666 (from the album, Whoracle)This one is my favourite track from that album. Catchy as hell. I'm also looking forward to the next Thrice release as well. From what I understand, the Earth EP is mainly acoustic stuff to make it sound "natural". The Air EP is supposed to be a mixture of all the other EPs. Some of the samples I've heard have been quite promising. To Ethelle: The Ocean plays a style of metal that I would call "Progressive Death Metal" but don't associate that with Opeth. To me, if Neurosis adopted a Death Metal sound, they would sound like this. I suppose I'll give you a sample song as well: The Ocean - OrosirianIt's kinda hard just to pick one song from them to suggest since the whole double album (yes two CDs, one of them compromised of short songs, the other has the longer, more progressive songs, like the one in the video) has a lot of different sounds on it. Since I like this song in particular due to the slow, sometimes forlorn sound it has, I picked it.

I'm excited - more excited about an album release than I can remember. Let me give you some background so you know why. October, 1990 - I saw the greatest concert of my life, at the age of 16. Best up to that point, and nothing has ever matched it since, and I've seen a lot of great bands in the intervening 18 years. The concert? Clash Of The Titans - Slayer, Megadeth, TestAmenT and Suicidal Tendencies. The highlight of the day was the INCREDIBLE TestAmenT. At that point they'd released 2 of the best thrash albums made - The New Order and my personal favourite Practice What You Preach. They were poised to be the biggest of them all. On that day they absolutely blew Megadeth and Slayer off the stage, and they were both good. And then it all went wrong... April, 2008 - 18 years later. They've just released their first studio album for 9 years after some pretty poor death metal albums in the 90's, the lead singer overcoming throat cancer, their lead guitarist playing jazz rather than metal and their drummer retiring. Well the lead guitarist is back, they've brought in ex-Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph and they've released the best thrash album they've done since the heady days of the late 80's. It may not quite live up to the peak they set with Practice What You Preach, but it's not far off. For those that reckon Rust In Peace is the pinnacle of what Thrash achieved, give these guys a listen. They've got a lot of music left in them yet. So welcome back TestAmenT. I've been listening to The Formation Of Damnation non-stop since yesterday, and it just keeps getting better and better each listen through. I'm so happy, I almost feel 16 again.

Fact. Anyway, been listening to a lot of Lamb of God recently. I'd heard them before from friends, but never really got into them myself until a few months ago. I started out with Ashes of the Wake and was blown away. After listening to a lot of other songs on youtube, I as torn between which I should by first, Sacrament or As the Palaces Burn. The record store chose for me, since As the Palaces Burn failed to be on the shelf. So I walked out with Sacrament and I haven't been disappointed. (Except for the single, "Redneck." There is this one chorus-ey part that goes "This is a mother ******* invitation The only one that you'll ever need..." it seriously bothers me. It's like a tiny nugget of lame in an otherwise cool song. I can't explain why I hate it, I just do, and it ruins the whole song for me.) Most Lamb of God fans don't really like this album, but I think they're nuts. Songs like "Forgotten (Lost Angels)", "More Time to Kill", and "Beating on Death's Door" make the album, and though they are much different, I'd say they hold their own in comparison to the songs on Ashes of the Wake, the album most Lamb of God fans cite as their favorite.
