Ahh I'm currently sitting in my bathrobe at the desk of my very nice finnish hotel room (which has got excellent internet connection) listening to my ipod-in-a-dock:

mind.in.a.box is playing just now, their great album "crossroads" (thanks Stargie for introducing me to a world of good music, wink.gif you know what I mean)

2tupac - "Hellrazor"

It's a song off of one of his posthumous albums, but I like it all the same. I'm not typically a rap fan, but I make an exception here and there. Tupac was a genius.

If that is as good as the other music I know you have, it must be a great pleasure to listen to!

Considering you liked Ursula 1000 I estimate you'd love it.

Deftones - Around the Fur

Not their best, but with songs like "My Own Summer (Shove It)", "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)" and "Around the Fur" it certainly doesn't suck.

I'm a long-time fan of J-Pop (Japanese Pop), just never really knew what to call it. J-Pop is pretty nice to listen to while writing. Like other genres, there aren't have any groups I follow. Well, I got started hearing some stuff from Two-Mix, but I like it in general. AC4A trailer There's a pretty good song in this video.

I also like the works of groups like Globus (owned by Immediate Music). Their best tracks are Preliator, Spiritus Kayyam (sp.), Prelude (on earth as in heaven), and Sarabande Suite-the middle portion-. They sing many of their works in Latin, some languages sound so good in song even when you have very little idea what they're singing.

Been listening to a lot of Sabaton and Sonata Arctica lately. Had never heard either band before Graspop, but I liked both of them, so I sought out more of their stuff. It's pretty good.

I've been listening to Radiohead's In Rainbows this morning. It's got a nice mellow thing going on.

Today it's been Abigail Washburn and the Sparrow Quartet. An interesting band--2 banjos, a fiddle, a cello... and the lead occasionally sings in Mandarin Chinese. It's a really cool sound, an odd blending of traditional American and Chinese folk music.

I'm listening to Colorblind by Robert Randolph and the Family Band. If you've never heard of Robert Randolph, he's one of the best artists to hit the scene in the past ten years. He plays a table steel guitar like nobody's business. I recommend you go out and buy this album - heck, ALL his albums - right now. I mean, seriously, this guy should be selling jillions of records.

Here's a little sample for all y'all:

And another one. You've probably heard this song already (well, bits and pieces at least) from TV and whatnot.

I get the feeling my playlist is pretty similar to yours (er, would be...if I had an MP3 player). Most of the music I listen to is older than I am.

Listening to this album brings back a lot of memories for me. I'm only 20 years old, but I remember in my early teen years when I was just getting into the Who and I heard all these albums for the first time - Quadrophenia, Who's Next, Live at Leeds, Sell Out, and the rest. I love them all.

As a young man, I could really identify with their songs - they really resonated with me. I think I'd be a very different person if I hadn't heard them.

So yeah...this album is magnificent. Quadrophenia is probably my favorite, though.
