We got into a real big mess yesterday evening. We were returning from visiting my girlfriend's parents when the weather turned really bad and it rained cats and dogs. So far so bad, but suddendly the clouds broke and the sun shone in our faces and all the cars on the street were hurling all the water into the air and thus there was water vapor everywhere, with sun shining into it from behind, blinding everyone.

Well, suddendly my gf slammed into the breaks and we were coming to a complete stop, on the highway (Autobahn to be exact) and then we saw there were cars coming fast from behind, so she tried to maneuver the car out of the way somehow. After they came to a halt right behind us, we left the car to check what happened.

Right in front of us, there were piles of crushed cars. That's when we turned around and saw that most of the cars behind us were severely damaged as well. That's when our knees turned to jelly.

Turned out there was a string of 73 accidents all in a row, with a total of 259 cars damaged, over 80 people hurt, at least ten critically. All the accidents were spread over 30 km of the highway, and as we were getting away from the scene, we passed many more crash sites.

There were a large number of rescue vehicles, helicopters, towing trucks, fire brigade trucks, whathaveyou. It was quite a nightmarish scene.

Luckily we got out unscathed and the car didn't even get a scratch. Real lucky.

seems like one of those situations that really sucks while you're there, but the amount of conversations you have about it later make it worth it.

glad you're okay!

Lord Revan, if you don't mind me jumping into the gun discussion, I'd like to point out that the Mexican cartels get their guns largely from the United States. Sure, they could probably get stuff from overseas, but let's face it, the U.S. is pretty much the easiest place in the world to get weapons for your own private narco-militia.

Well, if they can get the automatic weapons from ligitimate sources that the average person could acquire them from then tell me where I can get some. biggrin.gif If it's NOT through the lawful channels then it's ALREADY illegal and and it is not our fault that the government can't enforce its own edicts. In that situation, I'd sure as hell like NOT to wait for my turn to get mowed down by a scumbag that has no respect for the law or human life.

If you know a place my family could legally purchase an M-16A1 without being forced to fork over a sickening amount of money, I'll got buy one tomorrow afternoon.

I hate to break it to you guys but America is a big country. In a country where most citizens are already armed, any ban that is enacted is likely to do nothing more than stimulate the black market. Besides that I doubt any government would be able to take U.S. citizens' firearms away, the constitution was designed to keep America free by arming them. I read a report that said that there were ninety firearms per hundred people.

"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."-Thomas Jefferson

Machineguns have been illegal here for a long time, since sometime in the 1930's I think...if you want to get them you have to pay a huge amount of money for the license, then another massive amount of money for the gun itself, then it has to be registered so selling it is a serious offense...anyone who goes through the process of getting one legally isn't going to sell it to anyone. I only point this out because despite the bans, the black market has flourished by selling these firearms all over the country.

So I'm unemployed. The day after the bank announces £3 billion profit, I'm told they can't get the funding to keep paying me. I was told on Wednesday.

That really sucks. I only revently managed to get a job, just finished my first week. But I only work about 4 and a half hours a day at it.
That profit probably came from firing folks like you so they won't have to pay you XD

My first full day of school is today, and I'm not exactly looking forward to it, seeing as they've split up our classes into boys and girls. Most of my friends are guys, and we don't think this is the best idea, but oh well, we can't do anything about it. It should be fun anyways, and I'm sorta loooking forward to it.

Hmm... that doesn't sound very fun. I am looking forward to school. Summer is too long, and I don't have much to do (I'm going to work for the first time next year). I miss having structure in my life sad.gif

Only two years of my schooling before I went to university had mixed classes. It was all boys schools for me bar those two years. It's something you get used to. Not that it doesn't tend to stunt the ability to interact with the opposite gender when you've had very little experience socialising with them XD
On the whole I think mixed is better, but you'll survive with seperated I'm sure tongue.gif
Especially since it sounds like the classes are seperated, but everyone still goes to the same school.

My schedule is extremely messed up, and I'm glad. smile.gif Only two of my seven classes are separated because of my insane schedule. So, I have a lot of my guy friends in my classes. Hooray for weird schedules! biggrin.gif
