Not at all, it's good to see some new life in here. I'm shocked that anyone new comes at all really. What with Oblivion being out for a while now.

I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds by saying "Welcome!"

Thank you! You may find a large influx of new members due to an odd choice of updated software on a certain other Elder Scrolls site. I am not sure, but it appears Tom at Myspace unloaded some outdated server software on them or something.

It is true a lot of time has passed, but I find the Elder Scrolls games never seem to lose their hold on you. I became even more addicted than ever this past year when I finally got it up on my PC. It is a whole new addiction in itself to be able to mod the game now, lol.

I'm hoping to do some modding myself, once I get my gaming laptop up and running again. It'll either be based on a fanfic I'm writing now, or just whatever else comes to my head. Just playing the game and messing around is good inspiration for writing and modding.

G...g...gaming laptop? (Drool) - Please describe in as explicit detail as possible! Hold back nothing!

My dream is a laptop that will play Fallout 3, because then I know it will play all the TES games. (so far)

Heh, well it's currently a hunk of slag right now. With a fried motherboard and missing video card, there's not much to speak of anymore. It barely qualifies as a paperweight.

Fallout 3 isn't anything to write home about. Sure, I enjoyed, but after a few hours you've pretty much seen it all. One can only watch so many exploding heads before it gets old. The game suffers from "Oblivion Syndrome", isn't so high on the roleplaying end of things, and is generally toned down on everything but technology when compared to the other Fallout games.

Bah, but don't listen to me too much. I'm pretty jaded with the current incarnation of Bethesda. They've really toned things down in terms of storyline and character immersiveness. It's hard to accept there'll never be a fantasy setting as complex, refreshing, belivable and just plain awesome as Morrowind again (at least from Bethesda anyway).

True...but my desktop PC won't play Fallout 3, so I was using it as a guideline. I actually did love playing Fallout 3 - especially with all the DLC. I didn't feel the quests were that interesting, but it had two moments that I have never experienced the like - the explosion of Raven Rock and crossing the bridge behind Liberty Prime - those two moments made the game for me. I actually on replay steered clear of the quests and just explored the wasteland looting, which was much more enjoyable. (that was my evil playthrough).

The battle for the BOS DLC was fun, but not nearly as epic as the bridge and Liberty Prime, and MZ was a blast! (My character is still stuck in the ship as I have yet to live through the final battle).

It was addicting to play, but not nearly as much as the TES games for me. I never got to play the earlier Fallouts though, so had no point of reference there.

I couldn't find your fanfic, will you be posting it on here? Is it on the BGSF? And what game is it written on?

It's not posted yet, I've only just started the outline for the main character. I wrote two page paper on his personal philosophy and I've started a short list of his views on various factions. I find that it helps most of all to get into the head of my character when I play a game as him, even if what I'm writing doesn't include his exact actions in game or could even happen in the game at all.

His name is Xivian Droath, a Dunmer political exile and soon-to-be vampire. His being a vampire will take a back seat to his political/spiritual aims, which could considered "Daedric", in that he's neither good, nor evil, but somewhere outside the normal views of morality. His aims are altruistic, but his methods are questionable. A reoccurring theme and question is whether his actions are truly beneficial to the public, or if he's just a self-deluded egomaniac.

Aw shucks, you flatter me. Once I clean up his personal philosophy paper a it (I wrote it at 5 AM this morning when I couldn't sleep. There's a few confused sentences and overused words in need of synonyms) I'll post it up here, if you're interested. I'm going to make this a personal project of mine outside of school.

Stomach-Ache! Welcome back! And by all means, post your story. Somehow, the fan-fiction section has become more active here. Can't imagine why.... (Where's is that dang whistling emoticon when I need it?)

Thanks, it's good to be back. Things are a little slower here, but that's to be expected I guess. Any word of the status of Megil, DoomedOne or Dantrag? I'm curious to see if I can't round up some of the older crew, I missed a lot of you guys.

I guess once one somebody starts up again and the ball gets rolling, people get inspired to do the same. That and after about eight years or so, Morrowind has officially reached nostalgia status, and that's bringing in old players in droves. I know it got me :]

whistling.gif here it is my friend!!!

And yes! The fanfic section here is just awesome nowadays, thanks to the "new blood" that arrived here from the unnamed forum. That was just what we needed; folks who post nice encouraging comments on the new stories as well as the old ones. Now we old geezers also become livelier and start posting again...

That is by all means good!...Very good...

I've been have some sleep and health issues lately compounded with cramming for my psychology midterm, so it's been slow going with the fanfic for the past few days. I'd like to express my thankfulness that I've received such positive anticipation for it so far, and you shan't be disappointed. My work load should be coming down within the next few days, and I'd be more than glad to get my work up then.

I'll also be reciprocating and reading some of our lovely forumites work as well. I love seeing people's TESfic, it's a setting that lends itself to fan supplementation. Anybody have any works in particular to suggest? I'm going to start at the top of the list and just read down, but I could skip around for recommendations.

Sorry to hear about the health issues - lack of sleep will compound health problems as well. My best wishes for your recovery.

I doubt you will have much time to read with mid-terms, lol. I have two fanfics on here, but if I was going to suggest one over the other it would be A New Sun Rises. (Unless you just love pirates, lol). The pirate story is just a light short story I was doing to get something out of my system.

The joys of exams... I have eight starting next week and running until the end of may. One has a fail rate over 50% which promises of be a bundle of fun (though taking course work into account and if I nail the others I could proably convince them to pass me if I get over 20% in it). Still I keep looking out the window and seeing sun which makes me want to fix up the bike and not sit inside reading about physics.

As far as fanfic to read, I think my favourites at the moment are Blood on the Moon (Treydog) which is as good as plenty published works and Old Habits Die Hard (Hautey). Most of what's up there is pretty good though, I look forward to seeing what you put up.

 Thats a bit scary. I got that when it came out, I remember... Aaargh - eight years...

Anyway good to see people returning smile.gif (and yes Danny passes by now and then).

Thanks for the suggestions people, I'll be sure to check them out. The pressure has been going down around school and health. I feel confident about my midterms, and I was FINALLY able to schedule a doctor's appointment to get some health things fixed. Everything is moving ahead of schedule.

I've also decided to forgo playing the character in-game and just trying it entirely from hand. It'll be too long before my laptop is in working order, and I'm itching to get Xivian out of my head and onto paper. My knowledge of the game world and its lore is good enough that I don't think I should have much trouble just pulling it all out of memory.

Man, here I am worrying about just one test. That's pretty rough, Olen. I wish you best luck in only the way another nervous college student can!

4/23/10 Edit: I've started reading Blood on the Moon so far, and I'm rather liking it! Each of the posts are very easily digested in their bite sizes. I like the concept of the character being son of the Nerevarine, and the Imperial Legion recruiting poster had me cracking up. Bravo, Treydog, bravo!

Double edit: I've started work on my fan-fic! The first chapter should be posted up sometime today. For now though, I have to go take a test. Wish me luck!

@Intestinal rumblings: sorry to hear you've been battling health issues. Hopefully that visit to the doctor will start to set things straight for you! And good luck with your midterms! It's been over twenty years for me, but I still remember them all too well!

Aww, Olen, you liked my story that much? To be ranked up there with Treydog's Blood on the Moon makes me twirl!

In addition to those already recommended, I'd also recommend Interregnum (Destri Melarg) for its epic feel and take on ancient TES history. For pure Morrowind fun, I also like Memories of Rales Sarethi (Remko). I'm reading Olen's Burning Today, SubRosa's Teresa of the Faint Smile, and Fiach's Listen to the Sound of the Ashlands. There are other good ones as well, and I'm sure you'll find your own favorites.
