Crysis 2 has had my attention for a while now!

The game has brilliant graphics, on both xbox and ps3, and the game flows brilliantly! I love the nano abilities and experimenting with different tactics. My favourite is going stealth and walking up behind a group of enemies, then pulling the pin on a grenade and activating armor. BOOM! biggrin.gif

Sadly, the multiplayer community is very small now, with half the gametypes being deserted.

Crysis 2 is beautiful and a very fun game as well, I rented it for the 360 and I have to say it was a very good experience.

Just beat Red Faction Armageddon today, sweet game if you like to use tons of weapons to just lay waste to the buildings and objects around you. It wasn't good enough that I'll buy it but it was definately worth the rental.

As for what I'm playing now I'm back on Command and Conquer: Tiberium Wars. I love RTS games where you build an army and wipe out your enemies, I suck online but I really enjoy playing rounds on skirmish mode where I can customize the options. I know some people would strike me down for this comment but I prefer it to Starcraft personally.

I bought minecraft a couple days ago, and its brilliant! biggrin.gif

I tried the free version and wasnt too keen on it, since there was no challenge. When I saw a video of the full game, I loved the idea of having to harvest your own resources and building shelter to survive the night.

Right now I have a small hut made of planks, surrounded by a lava moat, with a mechanical drawbridge on my side! Oh, and theres a farm behind my house.

I just started playing League of Legends. Very good thing that I stayed away from it during the semester. That would have killed my grades.

Real Racing HD for the iPad2. smile.gif

Never really tried out the racing games before, though I thought they seemed interesting. IRL, I love cars, especially the ones that spin on a dime and have super-tight handling (pretty much the same way I like my horses, come to think of it). Top speed is useless if you can't take the tight corners and pull some serious G's without a tire coming off the pavement. cool.gif

I'm pretty happy with this game - it's very addictive, and the controls are pretty realistic. It takes advantage of the iPad's built-in accelerator and the iPad itself is my steering wheel. The touch screen is pretty sensitive for braking and acceleration, which makes it a hair short of perfect. If I could just tilt the iPad away from me for acceleration and bring it back to me for braking, then the controls would be out-of-this-world awesome! biggrin.gif

Graphics and gameplay are smooth and awesome. I have a whole new level of respect for that little A5 chip that sits inside this little dinkum. blink.gif

And to think I bought it to write on away from the lap top. Um. Right. That reminds me . . . unsure.gif hehe.gif

Found Fable (first one) in the deep corners of my Xbox hard drive so I've started a new character. Quite addicted but I still have a moment when I jump into Viva Pinata for a while. biggrin.gif

The first Fable is the only one in the franchise worth playing IMO especially if you get the "lost chapters" version with a couple extra quests and such. Fable 2 is alright but I prefer the first one. Fable 3 is not worth playing and has gone so mainstream that I couldn't even stomach it. Getting rid of the menus was their number one mistake.

Picked up L.A. Noire recently from a rental place, the game is pretty slow paced but interesting. Biggest complaints are that the gameplay is constantly hijacked by cutscenes and some of the cases get monotonous and repetetive. Its fun at first but for me the novelty wore off quickly and I was left with GTA with all the things that make that franchise a good game removed. All in all the game is alright but it is waaayyyy too long and doesn't really give you much reason to play through the massive campaign.

I agree with you there. As the franchise kept going, the content of the games started dropping until we are left with Fable 3 which was enjoyable (for me) but was too short, too linear and not challenging enough (due to the fact that your character can't be killed).

For me only having three expressions available at once, having to go to the sanctuary to give gifts, swap weapons, change clothes, and so on seemed like a major step back from Fable 3 and the story didn't compel me because it was basically completely based on getting rich. I also found the amount of weapons and clothing to be lacking as well.

As an old Fable fan it broke my heart and I'm glad I didn't buy it, the first one was a classic for me even if you can't really claim that it was a deep game or that it was anything like what Molyneux actually promised.

L.A. Noire has had my attention for the past couple of weeks. I'm sure most of you know what it is but I'm going to go on and tell anyway. It is a crime thriller game where you play as the character Cole Phelps in 1947. You start off as a regular cop but as you get further into the game you get promoted. You get to solve traffic cases, homocide (the best part of the game), vice cases and arson cases. In the game there are alot of references to The Black Dahlia. The most outstanding thing about this game are the facial expressions. The characters in L.A. Noire are probably the most alive characters in any game right now. You get to interview suspects and you can choose whether to believe them or not depending on their facial expressions.
I think that it's a great game. It feels like a movie. The story takes 20+ hours to complete I'd say. Now that I have completed the game so I'll probably not play it for a while but I'm sure that I will replay it again.

It was fun for a while but it got repetetive and for me there just wasn't enough to keep me going through the entire thing. I got to vice and by that point the game had started feeling too procedural. If they hadn't made it where your companions can drive I doubt I would have held on for as long as I did.

I agree with Klin. The game felt like a chore after the novelty wore off. The combat was really good, but you had to slog through lots of walking around waiting for the controller to vibrate.

This "review" is amusing and sums up what I think of it.

That video is awesome. I really enjoyed the game but sometimes as the video pokes fun at the game doesn't give you enough to go on and it isn't exactly clear which piece of evidence you should present for the specific part of the interrogation. If you present the wrong piece of evidence it basically screws you over, even if the evidence seems like it should have made sense.

For instance:

Guy: I know I seem guilty but can you prove I killed her?

Player: I found this bloody knife in your pocket.

Game show host breaks in and is like "oooohhhh sorry we were actually looking for 'An NPC said that they witnessed it happen' but thanks for playing."

Catching him with the bloody knife isn't good enough proof...it just bugged me on several occasions when this sort of thing happened.

Anyways the game was alright but I'm glad I didn't buy it. Also it is three disks long for the 360...it is a very long game and it takes alot of patience to get through it, especially since so many of the cases are so similar. I understand that it was part of the plot for basically every crime scene to be the same during the homicide portion but it was just too much.

I also got tired of the repetetive chase scenes every thirty seconds after the first three times I had to chase down someone.

A new game for the iPad: Infinity Blade.

It's a very simple hack-n-slash game with awesome graphics and pretty intuitive controls. You can parry, dodge and block, as well as cast magic (though it's funny that the enemy waits for you to finish casting a heal spell that restores all your health). The storyline is very simplistic, almost nonexistent, but the game play is quite addictive. Because of the paucity of health potions, and because you can cast spells only during combat, you do have to be careful how you allocate your XP's at each level, and you do have to think on your toes.

It's quite a lot of fun to just go up against these big guys and hammer at them (or dodge/block their strikes) until they're dead. But I do miss the deep story you can build in RPG's.

Oh, and my cats have a new one on the iPad that the three legged one is actually quite good at. It's called Cat Fishing (from Friskies) and it's pretty simple, but they love it. The best part of it is that it's free!
What is It?
The Two Paw Method.
I won? But I didn't catch anything!
After ten fishes "caught", the game goes to the splash screen. You tap it to start a new game. Trinity has got it all figured out and can amuse himself for fifteen minutes, which is a long attention span in cat terms (not only are cats autistic, but they also have ADHD). wink.gif

What a brilliant idea! Cat technology! biggrin.gif It looks amazing.

I am playing on Red Dead Redemption (still) but I am also downloading 'Bladestorm'. I downloaded the demo last week and thoroughly enjoyed it so I decided to get the full game as soon as I had the funds laugh.gif

That's true. I had a hard time getting through the vice desk. Drug cases don't interest me the slightest. As for the zero punctuation video. All of his videos are hilarious, you should check them out!

He actually likes the first Portal, Silent Hill 2, Just Cause 2 and Saints Row 2 but nobody would like his videos if he would talk nice things about them. The one about Amnesia is spot on!

Speaking of Amnesia The Dark Descent that is a game that I've been trying out recently. It's a horror game which I'm normally not very fond of. As much as I would like to say that it didn't scare me it actually does if you play in the middle of the night with headphones on. So it does what it's supposed to. But as zero punctuation mentions it gets repetetive.

He has actually stated that he does really like a lot of the games he harps about on ZP. "Yahtzee" is just a character Ben Croshaw created for ZP who is supposed to be the fast-talking epitome of cynicism.

I just got Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

I've only played a couple hours of it but it definately deserves its "10/10 - Buy this game!" lable. The upgrades/augments menu has tons of sweet abilities, my favourites being the wall punch and ICARUS system. Dialouge is more deep than other RPG's, with no clear good or evil option. Finally, the plot of the game is told much better than FF: 13's "Glossary" of info, instead it has you finding info in news boards, emails, etc. 10/10 from me!
