Searching under the dragon for J’Zargo’s body was the worst thing that’s happened to me in the game. I was sure he was dead, but there were only scorch marks and a dead goat. J’Shanji had a tiny blip of red left and wouldn’t quit looking to heal himself. It was even worse than when Vorstag fell into the draugr pit and Rowan jumped in after him. Maybe that’s why Allek doesn’t like to travel with a companion.

Aravi had something similar happen with Kharjo and a dragon. That was blink.gif

For some reason I thought Jensa's update was really funny. Farkas doesn't talk to her, then gives her a big hug. laugh.gif

QUOTE(Grits @ Jan 21 2012, 09:59 AM) *

The short version is it did not reflect well on me.
…Farkas made me. Even when we fought critters on the road he told me what to do with a look. We got home and I couldn’t stand it anymore. I stopped him right on the steps of Jorrvaskr.

“What are you going to tell them?” I asked him.
…“Are you going to say that I’m worse than a Sanguine worshipper? Just tell me first, so I’ll know.”

He just looked at me.

“Are you still mad at me?” I had to ask. I sounded like such a whiner.

“Jensa, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

I had to give a big sniff and pretend I had something in my eye.

He gave me a hug, weapons and all, and he rubbed his knuckles on my head. “Just watch yourself, sister,” he told me. Then we went inside.
[/indent]

Oh how sweet !!! I loved this !!

Trey is updating his journal as regards Whitewatch Tower. Do NOT approach the place. The stupid Whiterun guards seem to assume anyone not in guard uniform is part of the attacking band of fool-hardy bandits.

Vorstag rather takes exception to being peppered with arrows- regardless of WHO is doing the peppering.

Best just to let the guards and the banditti sort it out for themselves...

(Grumble grumble)

Farkas has such a big heart. wub.gif

treydog, I wonder if Vorstag could be encouraged to embark upon a life of crime, since he’s a mercenary. Attacking guards (er, defending himself against attacking guards) makes me think maybe yes. Hmm…

Rowan Varrus, dual-wielding savior of the world (again), has been busy working through her Miscellaneous list. Here’s a glimpse of her married life as she returns from a stint of solo questing:

Rowan stopped at Katla’s Farm to clean up and change into a gown before entering Solitude. No amount of road grit on her person would delay Vorstag’s urgent welcome, and Rowan preferred to keep dungeon residue out of their bed. She spent another hour dropping off gear for repair and trading loot for gold and arrows. On the way home she picked up a case of ale for Vorstag.

When Rowan stepped through the door, Jordis the Sword-Maiden called her challenge from the lowest level. A fire roared in the hearth. Trails of water marked the floor, leading up the stairs. Rowan sighed. Vorstag’s baths could exhaust the entire household.

She found him in their bedchamber looking damp and grinning nervously.

“The store has made a cozy profit while you were gone, love,” said Vorstag. “Here’s your share.”

Rowan needed both hands to lift the purse. There had to be over a thousand coins in it. She gave Vorstag a bottle of ale and a sharp look.

“Congratulations on your success as a merchant, dear. Which items would you say are the most popular with your customers?”

Vorstag flushed all the way down his chest, betraying the presence of at least one new scar. “I, uh, just sold off a… shipment… of iron weapons and assorted fur armor. And various… other goods.”

“I see. And where is your armor?”

Vorstag looked even more uncomfortable. “Jordis is cleaning it.”

“You raided a bandit camp.”

“Well, more of a fortress, but yeah. Look, I can’t just wait around the house all day, wondering when or if you’re coming home. I was made for battle. A Nord—”

“I know,” said Rowan, stepping closer. How foolish to try to keep this man safe. She resolved to never again leave him behind. “Remind me what else you were made for?”

Some time later Rowan’s stomach started to growl. Vorstag’s answered, even louder.

“I don’t suppose...” murmured Rowan.

Vorstag leaped into action. “I did! I always make your soup. Stay there, I’ll be right back!” His bare feet slapped away down the stairs.

“Wait! You’re—” But he was already below crashing around among the crockery.

Rowan sighed again. She supposed that by now Jordis had learned to hold her position in the basement.

Lol, she leaves Jordis and Vorstag home alone together, comes home and he's naked, Jordis has his armor ... why do I feel Jerric's presence? ROFL !!!

@ Treydog - I didn't have any trouble with them as a neutral character, lol. Is it possible you sided with the Stormcloaks? This game is full of NPC's with ESP as to what one lone stranger in their territory does in his private life, lol.

I actually think is more a matter of Vorstag being a bit- "indiscriminate" with the bow I gave him. He seems to think that an arrow whipping by CLOSE to him- even if it was not aimed at him- is cause to fire back at anything that moves.

So- I made him wait just out of sight of the watchtower and took care of it myself.

It’s the Naked Nord Syndrome! I blame Morrowind. tongue.gif Vorstag has turned out to be quite handy around the house, despite the mess. Rowan usually comes home to find him cooking or brewing up a potion. With Vorstag there’s often an unexpected consequence, though.

*

Rowan and Vorstag walked along the road in the warmth of afternoon. Armed and heavily armored, they were ready for whatever danger presented itself. Sweat trickled down Rowan’s neck. As they crossed another stone bridge, the waterfall’s roar made her feel dizzy. She stopped and turned her fevered face to the spray.

“Don’t take this the wrong way, but you don’t look so good,” said Vorstag. “I think you caught something from that skeever.” Rowan leaned on the balustrade while Vorstag rummaged in his pack. “Here you are, my love. A Cure Disease potion. I made it myself, like you showed me.”

Rowan drank it in one swallow.

“Plus I added Hargraven hair this time to try something different,” Vorstag continued. “That way—Are you all right?”

Rowan bent forward from the waist, retching. “Hair,” she choked. “Throat.”

Vorstag handed her a water skin and thumped her on the back. They stepped away from the fragrant puddle.

“I think I saw it working,” Vorstag said hopefully.

“It did,” Rowan told him. “Thank you. Only, next time…”

“Stick to the recipe,” Vorstag guessed.

“Yes, dear. Stick to the recipe.”

They began to walk along the road again. As always Vorstag stayed a step behind, watching Rowan’s back. Sunlight glinted off the nearby river. The cloudless sky promised another glorious evening.

“I guess alchemy isn’t like cooking,” Vorstag mused. “You can’t just toss anything in the pot and expect it to work out.”

By the Eight, thought Rowan as her stomach flipped again. What has he been putting in the soup?

I remember in New Vegas there were certain followers that would incite a riot with a faction - like that guy up in the dinosaur head.

His disposition would go to +100 Agression toward any of Caesar's Legion, causing them to attack. If you were trying to infiltrate the Legion he would not help your cause, lol.

Maybe it's that way with Vorstag and the Imperials, in which case it is a cool addition by the game (but shouldn't we be warned? ROFL!).

Catching up with Jensa:

It’s been a long time since I’ve written anything down. I’ve lost someone to the enemy and nearly lost someone else to grief. The two of us have been running hard to get vengeance, but I don’t think there’s enough blood in this realm to quiet their heart. The gods know we’ve spilled enough trying.

When I got home this morning they said the old man was looking for me. I knew I wouldn’t be able to rest, so I went to see what he wanted.

I thought he might tell me it was time to let go and start to heal, and that part was right. Then he laid some news on me that changed everything. I remember back at the beginning one brother tried to warn me, but I guess I wasn’t smart enough to know what he meant.

I think it’s too late for me. Even if I could free myself, I don’t know if I’d want to, now that I can control the hunger. How could I live without this fire in my blood? The old man wants to see his forefathers when he dies. He sent me off on my own to help him. I’ll do anything to bring him peace, I don’t care what it costs.

He’s counting on me. I’m going to get him what he wants.

How could she live without the fire? Well, she'd sleep better.

Oooh, Jensa sounded like she's starting to take charge of her life and make decisions about her future instead of being battered by every wind that blows - Nice !! Like that she's doing that for the old man, too.

Jensa has had some success. smile.gif

It worked. Now I know that if I want it, I can set myself free. I can help the rest of them, too, if anyone asks me. I don’t know where I’ll go when I die, but I sure won’t be alone there. It will just be another call to arms. Wherever I wake up, I’ll find my brothers. We will storm the hunting grounds, and there will be a harrowing like no legend even tells. I can hardly wait.

But for now I’m still breathing.

I picked up a contract on the other side of Rorikstead. This time I stopped in to see Erik the Slayer instead of sneaking by. I figured with no stupid Amulet of Mara there was less chance I’d make a fool of myself. I didn’t really want anything, I just miss him.

“You’re back!” he said as soon as he saw me. “Are we going on another adventure?”

So of course I took him with me. I’m paying him more than I’m getting paid by the Companions, but it’s only gold.

I don’t want to say we got lost, but we went to the Reach when we should have gone to Hjaalmarch. We must have missed the road signs while we were busy talking. It worked out all right, though, because we found a dog! I’ve almost cut him in half a few times for looking like a wolf during a wolf fight, but he’s pretty forgiving.

We cleared out the cave for the contract and headed back without much injury. Then I don’t want to say we got lost again, but we did get turned around in a snowstorm. Instead of mountains we found the Sea of Ghosts. We had to hike along the woods to keep Dog away from the horkers. It’s a good thing we’re so good at killing frost trolls.

Anyway we found a nice cave to wait out the storm. We had plenty of dry wood, beans, and time to cook them, plus we could blame the results on Dog. We practiced telling our troll cave story until I nearly wet myself with laughing. Erik said that was when he knew he got it right.

He’s asleep now, and I’m about to stretch out myself. I can hear that the wind quit. We’ll dig ourselves out in the morning and find the road. Even without any ale or mead, this has been a pretty good trip.

That was fantastic! I loved every line, even if Jensa sounds a little too eager to die in the beginning. blink.gif

Getting lost, not once but twice, was hilarious! And then Erik the Slayer sounds like an excellent companion.

Today I played with two of my characters:

Kraven, a former slave Imperial gladiator from servitude in Morrowind and a Lycanthrope, continues his adventures in SKyrim to try and settle down and retire. Doesn't work to well when he is being hunted down by the Dark Brotherhood and thugs constantly. Today, he fought against some of the Silver Hands member with his wife, Aela.

Now, Vera the Huntress, my Imperial Bounty Hunter, is tasked to kill a few bandit leaders and a giant who is causing distress among the citizens. She pursues her bounty all over the corners of Skyrim, and at the end of the day, she gets a pocket full of coin. The next day it was the full moon, so she transformed into a werewolf and killed a few people in the forests surrounding Falkreath. She woke up naked from her nightly escapades. It was Sundas, so it made sense to go to the Underforge to pray to Hircine to thank him for a plentiful and glorious hunt.

--------------------
And yet I am, and live—like vapours tossed.
I long for scenes where man hath never trod
A place where woman never smiled or wept
There to abide with my Creator, God,
And sleep as I in childhood sweetly slept,
Untroubling and untroubled where I lie
The grass below—above the vaulted sky.”

plus we could blame the results on Dog.

GAAAAH !!! Lets hope they were bandits, lol. (I haven't been a werewolf yet in Skyrim) - but I like that the werewolf transforms into nakedness. My werewolf mod in Oblivion would transform into a fully clothed being, which felt a bit off for immersion (but was still an Awesome mod).
