Scale up or down the desired seat before sitting?

I thought that would work, but it turns out that a larger seat made her hover higher. There's not much you can do for a NPC that stands and sits at different times, but sceenshots at least can be tweaked via console.

That would just be too simple, wouldn't it? I actually thought that scaling a seat down for a shorter character would work, not scaling up. For example, a character at .9 would fit better in a seat scaled down to .9, or some other value less than 1.

Right, but my experience was with x1.5 scale Aranxa. It appeared that scaling the chair sets a new position, but a scaled character will hover or sink according to their own scale. IIRC Buffy's scale is only 0.8 or so, meaning that both characters are outside the normal 0.9 to 1.1 of the standard races, where it's not enough to notice. It's not just sitting either. My current char uses a scale of 1.2, and she hovers over a bed when she sleeps (See You Sleep dll version works great!). Swimming is another place where the scale has odd effects.

Darkness Eternal- Thanks for popping in! We have mulled cider, Tamikas and Angel’s recipe for appleberry juice. I’m afraid some of your characters might have to BYOB (bring their own blood) however if that is their drink of choice.

mALX- Thanks! The modder of Kvatch Rebuilt did a great job and I’m delighted that, in many ways, it fits Buffy’s story. Thank you also for mentioning Buffy’s screenshot for October. As we’ll before long move to another month, let me more permanently post the one you’re referring to: Tamika making me work for my wine.

ghastley- Thanks for identifying that statue for us. Thanks also to you and KC for ideas about the ‘little elves in big chairs’ problem. Most of the time it isn’t noticeable, but you’re right that it is in that shot. The ladies of Buffy’s custom race are 88% the height of an Imperial woman and 80% of their weight. Based on the ideas you and KC kicked around, I did drop the size of a stool and had Buffy sit in it. With a bit of fine tuning, it actually solved the problem and is something I’ll have to remember.

Oh and I neglected this one. The open market looks very nice, though I think the guard would be very uncomfortable in that mail. He's big!

That picture of Buffy at Tamika’s is enough to make a Nord switch to wine!

I love getting postcards!! I had the same thought about the big guard, KC. Maybe that’s a Cathay-raht! Or perhaps we shouldn’t use a perfectly petite Bosmer for scale. I really want to go to Elsweyr, too!

Buffy’s desert outfit looks great on her! I love how all of the browns work together. And Superian looks magnificent against the tan wall. I’m sure Buffy doesn’t let the dust settle on her precious mare’s coat!

It's hard to tell with Buffy, but I do think that Khajiit's bigger than normal. He's Kharjo sized at least!

Thank you friends! I expect that Khajiit guard is 1.0. Our 'camera' seems very sensitive to distance - that is, an object being closer/farther makes the size appear quite a bit bigger/smaller. You can see it in that picture with Superian; her rear is farther away than her front so her head looks a little bigger than it should and her butt and rear hoofs appear a tad smaller than they are. I think the guard's size appears so exaggerated because he is so close to the 'camera'. You can see sort of the same effect on the top/farther vs lower/closer ears of the guard's bow and the fingers on his closer vs farther gauntlet.

I think you've also got a bit of "fish-eye" effect, and things nearer the center look smaller than at the edge. It may depend on the FOV setting, or it may always be there as a "feature" of the render engine.

Buffy's legs look longer with that position in the picture. She might like that idea.

Looking over a bunch of screens, I think you are right, ghastley. Things at the edges of the screen seem a tad oversize in addition to the somewhat expected 'closer looks bigger' effect. I'll have to bear that in mind. Our FOV is the default 75 degrees. The only other factor I can think of is that my monitor is a widescreen one. I do have the game resolution set to match the optimum setting for the monitor. Oh well, just something to bear in mind.


Buffy has given me permission to share some more of her expedition to the land of Khajiit. We’ll start with some shots of northeast Elsweyr –

Riverhold.

This city is built into the face of a rather steep rocky mountain and straddles a magnificent waterfall. Wooden bridges connect the two halves. Some of the buildings are free-standing and made of wood. Many, however, have wooden fronts and once inside you realize that they exploit either natural or Khajiit-made caves that go into the mountain. This creates a delightful mixture of wood and cave stone interiors as you can see below -

I LOVE seeing Buffy standing on the high deck in Riverhold and seeing the Imperial City in the distance! Got to get this mod installed! Awesome shots!

This is by far my favorite city I've seen. The mages' guild looks beautiful! The city looks pretty natural for a Bosmer as well. What's the pretty kitty's name that's brewing potions with Buffy? And I see one of the smaller Khajiit in the room as well!

Elsweyr! Truly beautiful!

Postcard is amazing. It is just as how I pictured the Khajiiti homeland to be. More or less Saudi Arabian style with intricate carpets and markets! Love Khajiits! Buffy is sure to get a great tan!

I love these. The view of Buffy in Riverhold with the Tower in the distance really fires the imagination. A city built over a waterfall! Wonderful!

mALX- Thank you! Buffy quite fell in love with the rustic beauty of Riverhold. And anytime she can get up high to counter her height, she’s happy!

KC- Thanks! Sorry, we forgot both the alchemist’s and the Alfiq’s names that are in that screen of the guild. Luvs the mixture of cave and wood found in some of the Riverhold buildings.

Grits- Thank you! Riverhold really does capture the imagination. An exotic mixture of cliffs and water with a sort of tree house feel – as odd as that all sounds.

As Buffy heads south from Riverhold, the forests begin to melt away gradually yielding to desert -

Here in Elsweyr, Khenarthi is the name for Kyne or Kynareth.

Just a note here on the tiger in this next one, as you will see more of him in the future. The cat is quite magical and mysterious. He is Superian’s very protective ‘familiar’ and as devoted to the mare as Buffy is. He can change from cat to tiger and even conjure a set of enchanted Royal Pahmar armor.

More water! Even the babies have bigger ears than me!
