Acadian: I don't like the version of the Silverlight without the mail. It looks like lingere, not armor. While exotic, this version still covers your character from head to toe in steel. Grits: Thanks to the Oblivion engine, Morroblivion improves on a lot of the annoyances in Morrowind: like the horrible animations and boring combat. Some of the things that made me give up playing Morrowind way back when. King Coin: I was using Max Tael's Natural Weather in that snow pic. It was snowing everywhere! Eventually I figured out it was the mod, and stopped using it. So far, Morroblivion does seem to be as close to a carbon copy of Morrowind. So far as I know, all of the major questlines are there. I started the main quest, and it is working so far. I have only been in the south-western part of Vvardenfell so far, but everything I remember is there. The same dungeons, shipwrecks, towns, etc... The only real downsides I see to Morroblivion are the CTDs, and lack of level scaling. The game can CTD on you at any time when are outside and walking around. It always turns out to be be something in particular areas, because it will do it every single time you try to walk there from the wrong direction. But walk there from the opposite side and no problems. So far I have found 3 places like that. The lack of level scaling is a carryover from Morrowind, but seems even worse here. It means that you walk into a dungeon right off the starting boat and are fighting guys with 200 health, and you can do 2 points of damage. You can guess how that works out. In Morrowind it was not quite so bad, because your weapons did variable damage, and that damage was greater than in Oblivion. Your first level Morrowind character might do 1-8 points of damage each hit. Where you 1st level Oblivion character is probably going to do 2, maybe 3 every hit. You pretty much have to stay out of the dungeons until you are 7th level. Or be prepared to run out of them a lot. But even the rats and mudcrabs are lethal. It takes about 15 hits to kill a rat at 1st level. I am not exaggerating, I counted. Mudcrabs are slightly less tough. Anat has been killed by rats more than once, well into 7th level. The only thing that has really made it possible for her was that I picked my modded Undine birthsign for her, more by chance than anything else. It gives you the same regeneration that Grummites get in water or rain. The starting area gets a lot of rain, and is on the coast with lots of little islands. So Anat spent a lot of time dashing out of dungeons and leaping into the water to heal up, or just stood there in the rain and slugged it out with much more powerful enemies, regenerating like Wolverine all the time. The Morrowind player's most hated enemyBalmora, home of House HlaaluAnat has seen the Silt StriderLooking over the West Gash in her new Bonemold ArmorStanding atop the Dwemer ruins of Arkn-something or anotherSlugging it out with a Dwemer Centurion (they are much tougher in Skyrim)Apparently they missed a few things...This post has been edited by SubRosa: Oct 11 2012, 11:08 PM

Oh wow, I’ve used that mod and it never bugged out that badly. It did snow in Bravil, but it was brief. Those problems with crashes and level scaling sound pretty bad. I was thinking of trying it, but it doesn’t sound like it would be a very enjoyable experience. I’ll stay clear of it. Makes me wonder if the Skyrim versions will be worth playing either. Despite that, the game looks very interesting based on the screen shots. Reminds me very much of the SI and I’m sure the SI reminded you of Morrowind. The Dwemer are stronger in Skyrim? Here I thought the ones in Skyrim were quite fragile.

Acadian: Maybe one day I will try out that Elsewyr mod you have? With Skyrim, that will make nearly have of Tamriel. King Coin: I fixed the level scaling by creating a mod that adjusted the health of the creatures. In the process I also found out that they had doubled or tripled the health of nearly every critter in the game. So I set them back to the same health that they had in Morrowind. So now just walking around is not a lethal proposition. The Dwemer automotons seemed weaker because they had the same stats that they did in Morrowind. So they were unbuffed. The random CTDs outdoors is apparently a problem with cell buffers overrunning. Supposedly you can fix it by walking everywhere instead of running, turning of distant land (F* that!), and using a buffer clearing mod. I am trying out the buffer mod, I will have to see how it does. Taking those things out, it is a lot of fun. It is much better than playing Morrowind. There are a lot of things about the gameplay of Morrowind that I hated. Oblivion fixes all that. But at the same time, all the things from Morrowind are still there. The music, sound effects, voices, places, even little things like the cups and plates. Grits: It is a lot of fun playing Morrowind, without playing Morrowind. You should try it. The monsters from Morrowind are all here, including these BonelordsOne of those reminders of SI. A lot of SI seems to be just copied and pasted from Morrowind.Another view of Balmora, one of my favorite cities in Morrowind.Daedric Shrines are lot different in MorrowindThe residents are much less friendly than in Cyrodiil as well. Here is a Morrowind-era DaedrothRed Mountain and the Ghost FenceThey must be keeping Kong in there...The Ghost Gate, the only way through the Fence. This post has been edited by SubRosa: Oct 14 2012, 12:35 AM

Acadian: Are there any Valenwood mods out there? It would be very cool to try one out. If not, Buffy should mosey on over to Vvardenfell once she is finished exploring Elsewyr. It is an interesting place to visit. King Coin: Those Cell purge mods seem to help with the CTDs. I have still had a few since I started using them, but not as many. I have gotten a feel for when they are going to happen. The framerate drops, and things start to stutter. I just stop and wait a few moments till it clears up, and it runs without the CTD. But as a long-time gamer, I am used to quicksaving constantly, so even when it does crash, it does not set me back by more than a few minutes. It really does not bother me anymore. The Khajiit and Argonians are the same as they are in Oblivion. All of the races have the same bodies and textures as in Oblivion. One thing they really did a really good job on is the faces. There are not many NPCs I would call ugly. Many are quite easy on the eyes in fact. I prefer the Daedroths from Oblivion too. They are bigger, and feel a lot more menacing. They are using the Oblivion version of the Flame Atronachs, but I think they are the only Daedra that they are. The others I have seen have all been the Morrowind style. Balmora is one of my favorite places in Morrowind. I love the Spanish/South-Western style to the buildings. Anat is spending a lot of time there since she joined the Fighters Guild (they have a chapter there). My other favorite place is Ald'Ruhn. I love how it is made out of big bug shells. Unlike Balmora, it has a completely original look and feel to it. Grits: I always liked the GhostFence, it is half force field, and half suspension bridge. You should download it and try it out. Your comp will run Oblivion, so it will do Morroblivion. It is much better than Morrowind. Oblivion is a much user-friendlier engine to play imho. I expect that her name will be familiar to more than one personAld'Ruhn, the seat of House RedoranAnat came upon one of the rare tame GuarsThis Nord seems to have lost his clothing. The result of Witches no doubt.Anat was spending so much time in Balmora, that I made her a houseThe interior is small, but comfortableNothing but the best for AnatThe rooftop has a nice view of the merchant's squareI think Anat made a friend at the Mages GuildWho can resist a sunset?Caught in an ashstormAnat found the Resident Evil inside one of the Sixth House bases. This post has been edited by SubRosa: Oct 16 2012, 02:29 AM

Good to know on the Khajiit and Argonians. I was wondering if they would have changed them to look more like they did in Morrowind. Hey, isn’t Boderi supposed to be in the Arcane University? The structure for the house Redoran is very cool looking. Kind of run down though, are they not very powerful? Jerric! Love Anat’s house and clothing. Scotland? Is that within the Shivering Isles? Anat’s friend is pretty. Ash storm? That’s pretty cool. What’s the ugly thing in the last screen?

King Coin: I guess Boderi moved from Morrowind and became a battlemage at the Arcane U. Or maybe Bethesda just reused her name without thinking about it. They reuse a lot of names between games. Redoran is one of the Great Houses in Morrowind, one of the top five ruling factions in the province. The outside of their houses look like that because they are giant bug shells. I am not sure if they are from Silt Striders, or some other kind of critter. The main Redoran HQ is that big one in the Ald'Ruhn pic, it is made from a giant crabshell. That critter in the last screen is a Lame Corprus. It is the result of someone catching the Corprus disease, which is basically Lorkhan's essence, straight from his heart in Red Mountain. With a little extra seasonings from the Big Bad, Dagoth Ur, who was driven mad from tapping into Lorkhan's Heart to steal some of his power (just like the Tribunal did). A Morrowind style Frost AstronautAnd a Storm AstronautI call these Bonelords 'Slim'Two Dremora squaring off against a Golden Saint (I think the Saint hit one by accident while they were all trying to get at me)Anat found a really ugly helm that she will never wear againEdit: Forgot one The dining room of the Ald'Ruhn Fighters Guild. The Redoran buildings may look rough outside, but they are stylin' inside. This post has been edited by SubRosa: Oct 21 2012, 12:42 AM

There is indeed an OB mod called Valenwood Improved and a patch so it flows smoothly with Elsweyr. It’s on our list, along with the glimpse of Skyrim that ghastley provides with his Falkreath mod. MW is perhaps a distant someday. So many places to visit, so little time! Woot! I realize Boderi's a completely different character in MW, but Buffy surely loves her University mentor. Fabulous shots of MW and a wonderful little house you made for Anat! You really have a nice touch with houses – I was so impressed with the nice touches and details I found in the cottage you made in OB for Morcant. I love that bonemold helm in the ashstorm – Buffy got one in Elsweyr and finds it indispensible during the sandstorms there. Those clever Dunmer knew what they were doing when they made those helms all right. I see Anat has a good eye for the mages; and Anat is certainly a looker herself. Nice to see the MW astronauts and golden saints. I confess to loving the look of the OB frosties. Eeep! Oh, Anat – good choice to probably not wear that helmet again! Edit: Oooh! Just noticed your new one - Stylin' indeed! This post has been edited by Acadian: Oct 21 2012, 02:48 AM

Huh, the Morrowind frost astronaut (lol) looks kind of strange. I prefer Oblivion’s. Skyrim has the coolest astronauts so far. I wonder why they have always chosen rocks to serve as the body of the stormies? I would prefer something that looks like clouds or something like that. The bonelords look very creepy. I approve! Nice of the Golden Saint to help you out. No matter what game, the mask is always Vile. I peeked at this earlier, I’m glad I waited to comment else I would have missed this one! You are right; the interiors make up for the ugly exteriors of the Redoran homes.

Acadian: Neat to hear that bonemold is in Elsweyr. I think there is a standalone mod that adds them to Oblivion as well. But that might be Indoril armor instead. It has been very interesting to play Morrowind this way. Much more fun than using the Morrowind engine. King Coin: Squid-Face is an Ascended Sleeper, probably the worst kind of ash monster you can face. All of them are named Dagoth-soemthing or another, and are the Big Bad's lieutenants. That is indeed a tree. House Telvanni are a basically a bunch of crazy wizards, and they live inside those big trees. They are hollowed out, and in some areas you can only get around by flying. Grits: Those Hutts are Ogrims. They are Deadra, I think serving Malacath. But with the way Bethesda is, you naturally find them anywhere, regardless of who the Daedric Prince in charge happens to be. Morroblivion was starting to get stale, and I began to have a hankering for some horse archery. So I went back to Skyrim for a while. Since there is no horse nomad race in Tamriel like the Sarmatians or Mongols , I decided to go with a Redguard. Meet Neith (another name for you to look up Grits )Neith spent some time brushing up her skills with AngiNeith thinks this Noble is a real jerk. She likes his horse thoughThe Empire does not enforce the law of gravityNeith went to Markarth to buy a painted horse (not sure what to name him, perhaps Hidalgo?)Neith also picked up a stray dog. Here is a mod that turns them into wolves, with a skin that is supposed to make them look like huskiesI think I like the mod that changes the dog followers into foxes better (I hate the vanilla dogs)Bargaining with a Khajiit caravanNeith found this slippery fellow on her way back from Bruca's Leap Redoubt
