If the noise is a concern, may Buffy send you one of Pelena's potions? wink.gif

@ Grits - Urk, didn't need to hear about a long harsh winter, even from a cute worm. May have to fish with him till he changes his mind and gets less black fur! HA!

I've heard of the term "tickling trout" but I don't think that's the way it works. biggrin.gif

In ETN we go "graveling" for catfish, same hand action but lay your hand on the bottom and wait till the catfish bites - then grab him. Great for a big catfish fry where everyone is too drunk to realize the catfish was too old and large to be tasty, lol.

Yikes! I've been away so long I had to sign back in!

Treydog, Mrs. Treydog, I hope both of you are doing well after your procedures. Grits, after the summer I've had, I'll be happy to have a normal season!

I've fallen far behind and I don't know when I'll be able to catch back up on everybody. But I have news!

BIG NEWS!

After months of dealing with steadily worsening respiratory issues (including proliferating lung nodules) I finally have the answer! Hypersensitivity pneumonitis! McBadgere knows it well as farmer's lung. In my case, it is likely triggered by mold growing in our humidifier since last winter combined with the horribly hot, dry, dusty and moldy summer we have had around here.

We replaced the humidifier pad and the furnace filter, and will continue to do so every three months during the heating season. And the vents are getting cleaned out this Friday.

I've just started a course of treatment with high dose prednisone (taper off after two weeks). I was laid up in the hospital for a week following complications with a needle biopsy, ended up having an open lung biopsy via thoracoscopy. So I have about four or five small incisions around my right side, plus a larger one where they had a chest tube the size of a garden hose in place for two days after the procedure.

As part of the patient safety and risk management protocol at the hospital, the surgeon had initialed my right chest to indicate which side to operate on. Sneaky honoured user, he waited until I was under to do that. When I woke up, I looked down, saw his initials, and griped "They put the wrong tattoo on me! It was supposed to be a SeaBee tat!" (Dad was a SeaBee during Korea).

I don't know when Julian will be back. She is determined to finish this story, but she understands that I've been struggling this past several weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to get the rest of the story written down so we can finish out our postings soon! Like, before Nanowrimo starts. Yikes! That's a little more than a week away!

Rider, I'm glad you have a solid diagnosis and plan of treatment now. I hope things clear up soon and fully for you!

laugh.gif Must have been thinking about my lunch date!

Haute, that's great news! Changing some filters sounds much easier than growing a new lung. That stinks about the garden hose, though. I hope everything heals up the way it should. That's funny about your temporary tattoo. My friend who is an ER nurse once wrote "other side" on her son before he went in for surgery. blink.gif

Oh, I forgot to mention The Boy’s latest way of making me crazy. He has become a self-anointed political pundit.

There was a lot of laptop shuffling tonight because they both needed it for homework. Tension rose as the hours ticked by and The Girl had not yet been able to print her report. (For which I had to go buy some stupid brass clips during rush hour, but that’s not the point). It was discovered that The Boy was using the laptop NOT for homework, but he still NEEDED IT.

“Well, what the heck are you doing?” I demanded, perhaps not very sweetly.

“Fact checking.”

“FFffffffffact checking? You need to finish your math! What facts are you checking?!” Meanwhile The Girl is pacing the hallway shooting dangerous looks in through the door.

“I’m fact checking before the debate. You know, the debate is tonight.”

Right. He can’t even vote yet! And he’s fact checking before the debate?

So I told him I was going to pay the orthodontist $50 to keep his braces on for another month. It was awesome, for about two seconds he believed me! (Maybe it was the broken blood vessels around my bulging eyes.) Nov. 6 can’t come soon enough.

Better take a bunch of embarrassing vids and snapshots of him now (in his formative years) to use for leverage later when he is in the White House.

It is NEVER too late to begin collecting a stockpile of embarrassing moments on your children. Keep them hidden away in an old shoe box your child can't find but is handy to pull out when they bring the first girlfriend/boyfriend home, etc.

Earlier today I was letting the dog in the house from the back yard . As I held the door open, a big spider runs inside. What the hell.
