Yeah, definitely NOT nobility. I see her more of someone that goes into town once a month, and that's to get more arrows or something.

I don't know why, but that just really made me laugh. Just like...insane, exhausted laughter.

I agree. It's weird but I love that sort of 'dirty' look she has, like a peasant.

King Coin don't give up on her. I understand what you are going thru, having been with Aravi for so long. Try to think of things (maybe) that Aravi hasn't done yet, and see if Olivia would want to try those. Off the top of my head, I can already see her farming. She's got that peasant look, as if she's been working the fields. I see her being interested in making some quick septims farming all around Whiterun, and chopping wood, perhaps.

I would do this for awhile. seriously. Even if it seems dull. As you're farming with her, you'll think of something new. And I am assuming Aravi has never been been a farmer for some reason; if she has, just ignore these words. wink.gif

Well I started a new character randomly. I wanted to make a 'nobility' character that wore heavy plate armor, fought with one sword and no shield, and rode a horse. They would like all things scholarly, and maybe do some conjuration. They would use a crossbow for ranged attacks. No sneaking.

This was doomed from the start.

This is Olivia. She is hardly nobility, she sells all the books that she bothers to pick up, she hates the iron armor she's wearing, and you can see her bow quiver over her shoulder. The only thing that has gone right is the sword, but she's dying to get her free hand on something else... maybe some magic, maybe a shield.

I don't know if I'm going to continue her or not. She plays a lot like Aravi does. Maybe I'll just set her aside.

I feel your pain. Jensa was supposed to be a mystic archer, if you can believe it. Still, I think it’s a good thing when characters are strong (vivid and possibly more developed in your mind than you realize) enough to go against what you might have decided for them. Has Olivia picked up a shield? Block is possibly my favorite perk tree, and it’s very different from Aravi’s dual-wielding.

Maybe flames with a shield? hehe.gif She looks like she could be a battlemage. Meaning of course that she looks perfectly awesome. tongue.gif

I tried to make a character as a vampire instead of a werewolf.

I couldn't take it! I joined the companions and became a werewolf, and I dont want to cure it to become a vampire again! panic.gif

And it's horrible, because

I have a strange obsession with unlocking all of the achievements on my elder scrolls and fallout games, so If I don't unlock that achievement, in about 80 years I'll be turning in my grave!

I'm both pleased and displeased that she's broken every idea I wanted to try. You are right, Aravi's never farmed, at least in Skyrim. Aravi won't chop wood, mine, or farm. I'll perhaps try seeing where she goes, though I still consider her secondary to Aravi.

The original plan was to have the character block with their sword, but she doesn't want to do that. Fire could be a possibility, she kind of does have a 'burnt' look to her.

That's why I have four characters, hehe. Two vampires, two werewolves. Two female, two male.

Here's the thing. Farming and mining and chopping wood is dirty, sweaty work, and not all characters (as well as people here on Earth) are wanting to do this sort of work. Back in the Middle Ages/Medieval times, a very large percentage of the population was rural and hard-working. But then you have the nobility, who were the minority, and I imagine they rarely did the harsher work. They had this huge population of serfs or slaves to get it done for them.

Aravi may not be a noble in the Earth sense, but she strikes me as being sort of a superstar. Very dynamic. She can make money adventuring, why bother digging up ripe vegetables? smile.gif

.... And several of my characters are also like Aravi in the sense that they don't see any reason to do harsher work, not when they can make even better money traveling about. But I'll give you a hint: I don't know about farming, but chopping wood in Skyrim pays a ridiculous amount of money, in comparison to Earth, and I imagine if you hit all the farms in a particular area, your new character might wind up with some good starter money, too.

See....this is what happens. Now I wanna make a peasant! laugh.gif

You are kind of right there. Aravi can make money off of what she finds on her quests and adventures. She also used to do a lot of peasant work years in her past for no pay, barely adequate living space, and harsh treatment. It's her thing now to never do any of that again.

I don't know if this person strikes me as a farmer, but she definitely isn't against doing those other tasks, like mining and chopping.

My newest charcter (the Ice Witch) is unlike any other I've created so far. She's taken over Anise's cabin, and the feel of her game is very laid-back and calming. Very unlike Haaf-Mersey with his constant roaming around. Mycharonna went on an ingredient-hunting walk today and wound up roasting some slaughterfish! ..which is something none of my others have done so far... this might sound boring, to not be doing any quests and to just kinda be moseying around, but I'm surprisingly hooked into her world! "Immersed" is the word that's often (over)used. biggrin.gif

But this is what I mean. you approach the game a different way, and you might be surprised at what comes up.

Well, one of my characters(Kraven) does work like wood chopping and cooking and etc. And yes, farming. I like to roleplay a lot, and he does all the wood chopping on weekdays tongue.gif

But then again, he has no true faction or allegiance . . .he's certainly no superstar like Aravi. He was once, but now in Skyrim I have him going back to his pre-Morrowind days of farming and picking flowers and compassion. He believes in the whole "Honest pay for honest work" thing. He does mercenary work for the companions, don't get me wrong. He's also a warrior, but in his free life he settled down a bit.

I like Skyrim's more simple things, and Hearthfire certainly adds that. Like Lady Saga said, most people of the time worked such dirty jobs. But the nobility simply fatted themselves with good food or had their servants do their work while they got the income through birthright and other means that don't relate at all to hard labor. It all depends on our characters though. I have some that wouldn't dare touch a vegetable in the ground or chop wood simply because they don't have to. Their noble status simply keeps them from doing such things while my more humble characters who had a commoner's life and low-class status continue to do so not only because of desire but also because that's the only thing they've ever known.

Sure, killing bandits, saving damsels in distress and chopping up monsters is a partime job. But I don't always like to picture them as the ultimate heroes. That's why none of them have done the main questline. Personally, I don't like much of the prophesized hero that saved the world, not in the sense that my well-developed characters would become them. I leave that for other random characters I just make and leave them for the game and not the lore behind them. But that's just me.

Yes, Kraven. smile.gif I want to start reading fanfics again, I enjoyed the tale of your slave in Morrowind a few months back. So far behind. Sigh.

Hearthfire is awesome, I agree. YEah, it's a little shallow in certain ways, but it still adds so much, so many little things here and there that get noticed slowly as our characters evolve. HF also makes me feel like my Crusader is 'dug in' to his new environment, a truely rural, land-owning lord or something.

Heh, I am nearly done with it. Fifteen or so chapters and I am finished! *wiped forehead*.

Lucky. I don't have Heartfire yet. I heard it will be $2.50 the first week when it comes out this month for the PS3. I will definetly buy it only because I wanted a home in Falkreath . . .and the new ingrediets and food!

He, I was spoiled about the DLC before I even have it. I was spoiled by Dawnguard a few days before the release through leaks, haha. I know just about everything about it.

That's pretty interesting actually, the way one character is calming and the other not so much. Aravi goes through phases. In the middle of a questline, she can be very demanding and driven. Other times, she can just go to a lake or steam just to swim, and spend the whole day doing so. She does casual alchemy as well. She loves gathering ingredients and making potions, but she pretty much sucks at it.

I thought Kraven would fit in well with the culture of the Companions. Are you just doing the radiant quests with him?

Just something I want to add too, Aravi doesn't think less of people just because they do 'dirty jobs,' She was in that position before. She doesn't view herself as a superstar as you two put it. laugh.gif She has a pretty humble attitude for the most part.

Somewhat, yes. He fights for honor and glory but not to the degree that he once did as a slave. Curious though, since he would technically be a free man. During this time there is much more at stake than honor and glory and money. Especially money, which is something materialistic and temporary. I do radiant quests with him sometimes, but most often he gets his money from hunting game and killing mammoths or farming . . .or chopping wood and many times killing bandits and necromancers.

Oh, well, that's not what I said. I never thought Aravi would think less of people at all. Well, being a Dragonborn would be amazing though for one, I can imagine how she must feel of using the Voice and Fo's Ro Da'ing suckers all over the place laugh.gif. I like her a lot though. wub.gif

I really liked hunting and making leather armors out of the hides and cooking up stews from the meats.

Basically one of my favorite things to do after I completely conquer every aspect of RPG's like Fallout or ES is to roleplay a commoner.

Go hunting, find a dumpy place to live, go to work, hit local clubs, maybe an odd quest here and there as long as it doesn't seem like something impossible for an average person to do (no powerful artifact quests, or deep advancement into any guild).

I know I'm a really boring person.

Why? Because you dare to create a character who is mundane as the ground he walks upon? nono.gif

That's actually rather interesting to me.
