So- here's what it was doing yesterday (March 2 for those keeping score at home) in Tennessee:

Front Yard

Daffodil

Did I see a cute little Treydoggie in a third picture playing in the snow? (And we got about the same here, but it didn't stick, lol).

Yes- apparently Imageshack somehow saved that pic from I cannot remember how many snows ago. Since the little wiener has been chasing squirrels in the Happy Puppy Ground for several years now... Kinda gave me a lump in the throat to see him again.

Aw, I'm sorry Trey. Shouldn't have said anything, I thought maybe you'd got another that looked very similar. sad.gif

Oh no worries. I saw that picture too when I tested the links (which I always do when trying to post pictures). It is good that you remember the furry little badger boy too. Hug_emoticon.gif

19 years was a good long time to have him around... playing my computer games and "borrowing" my chair.

Nineteen years is a long life for a dog, I think only certain special dogs are meant to live that long. My rottie lived to be nineteen years old too, very unusual for that breed. He was there through all my children's toddling and school years, through my older son's marriage and first deployment to Iraq. When my son PCS'd back to the states I told him it was time, he needed to hurry home to say goodbye to Caesar if he wanted to. He couldn't leave the base for a few days. He did talk to Caesar on the phone, and I think that was what Caesar was waiting for, his family to be home. He died the next day.

He was the best dog I've ever known, there could never be another like him. Here is Caesar at a car show in Kaiserslautern Germany:

And happy to be at home relaxing again after his (two year) trip to Germany:

Beautiful shots of Ceasar and the dear old little trey. They certainly do stake a claim on your heart, don't they?

The doggie portion of my own heart is still owned by a beautifully lithe and courageous dobie. Her name was Teak. Later, a giant dignified gentleman of a great dane named Rocky muscled his way in there as well. Alas, mALX is right that the larger breeds tend to burn out their candle more quickly than their smaller counterparts.

Wonderful pictures, mALX!

And yes- there are those companions who are destined to stay with us for reasons we cannot completely grasp. I have been fortunate in that regard- including an number of collies who lived past 10 and a basset who made it to 13. The basset held on until we had the "family conversation" and then went quietly in her sleep that night- where she had spent many nights- on the throw rug on Dad's side of the bed.

Trey- like most dachshunds- THOUGHT he was a Rottweiler. I did not have the heart to tell him different....

I've had several dogs that lived to ripe old ages but it isn't really comforting knowing that they had 15+ years when they go. You always wish they had 15 more.

Dogs are great companions that always have your back. They're also a lot of fun to live around too with their quirks and dorky behavior which is why I've always had them around since I was old enough to take care of one.

@ Treydog - ROFL! When I was growing up we had a little chihuahua that lived to be 15 - and like Treydog, she thought she was a Rottweiler, lol. She was a trembly acting dog till someone came to the door, then acted like she was going to tear them a new hide.

Like Kiln said, I've always had dogs around, they become so much a part of the family that I don't think I could imagine my house without one.

We've always had dogs too, and it's so weird waking up in the morning and NOT hearing whining, NOT having to give them a bath, and NOT having someone greet you at the door. I'm staying at my mother's until Sunday and I am LOVING being around the four labs they have. I'm soaking up the love!

I like Shih Tzu's.

And yet I am, and live—like vapours tossed.
I long for scenes where man hath never trod

Untroubling and untroubled where I lie
The grass below—above the vaulted sky.”

The weathermen don't always say what's true, lol.

It was supposed to snow like this the night before, not last night, lol.

I don't even know. Yesterday it was snowing during the day, really hard, but the snow wasn't sticking because it was about 33 degrees out kvleft.gif

The weather here is a bit weird.

I was bored.

Extremely bored.

So I grabbed one of the four labs my brother has and did a photo shoot. This is the best one.

Because puppies are squirmy.

I also love my face in this one XD

I also think this picture accurately sums up a lot of my personality XD
