Another interesting fact is that you're much more likely to be killed by a hippo than a lion.

Yes. Yes you are, lol. Them thangs are MEAN!

They look so cute and harmless, lots of people don't know how aggressive and territorial they are, which is probably part of the problem.

Everyone knows lions are dangerous so people avoid them.

As a rule, I don't like anything bigger than me.

Or faster.

Or can fly.

Or has sharp teeth and claws.

Basically I draw the line on anything that isn't a normal household pet.

I've worked around horses extensively and it is my belief that they're dumb, dangerous, and prone to panic. I don't like them or anything else large enough to kill me by kicking or crushing me.

Horses fall under the no-no list. For some reason, I've always been around horses that bite. I've been nipped, but never bitten full-on. And I don't plan on it.

I have had several friends injured by horses either dragging them or going off in the stall while the person was working on them. I got stuck taking care of a big two year old that had put 8 grooms in the hospital, one died of his injuries.

They all had cross-tied him in the back or corner of the stall to work on him - one startle and he'd come up hard against the ropes and go nuts. They'd be pinned against a wall or have to pass his flying hooves to get out of the stall, and he wouldn't settle down as long as the cross-ties were jerking against him.

I figured I'd do the opposite and hope it worked - stuck his head out the door and let his tie dangle loose to the ground. The two times he startled I was able to shoot out under the webbing and wait out his tirade, (which was shorter lived because he wasn't fighting anything but himself alone in the stall). I guess I lucked out, was the only groom he didn't manage to injure. He stepped on my foot once, that was it.

@ Mirocu - Good luck for your own situation, sometimes a company folding is taken over by a larger one and they keep the employees intact.

Speaking of getting injured by larger animals... I think my husband sprained my pinky. I was putting my.phone in my pocket and he threw up his arms, thinking for some weird reason that the movement of putting my phone in my picket equaled hitting him, and his forearm smashed into my pinky, knocking my phone out of my hand. It's swollen. If ice doesn't help, Ima be angry XD

From the morning funnies:

I told my girlfriend to go get me the newspaper. “Don’t be silly,” she said, “borrow my iPad.”

That spider never knew what hit him!

Glad your finger isn't worse, Liz. If all else fails you can always tape it to the one next to it and, uh, lift with your legs?

Also, Happy Pi Day everyone!! Or at least everyone who writes today as 3/14! biggrin.gif

Dammit, don't lift with your legs, do it with your back! And when you're lifting things, hold your breath! Don't you know the body makes its own oxygen when it's working! tongue.gif

I've been injured twice by horses. Once a stirrup broke and left be being dragged for 20+ yards by one and the other time I was thrown off.

I've never gotten on to another since then. They're dangerous.

Being dragged was my biggest fear, much worse fear than being thrown (although I wasn't excited about being thrown either). I never did get dragged (thank goodness) - got thrown off dozens of times, but only got hurt once from it.
