Kayla? A vampire?! A beatiful child of the night who has been given the beautiful gift of immortality and eternal beauty?

What? Never thought this would ever happen. I must go back and read now.

And yet I am, and live—like vapours tossed.
I long for scenes where man hath never trod
A place where woman never smiled or wept
There to abide with my Creator, God,
And sleep as I in childhood sweetly slept,
Untroubling and untroubled where I lie
The grass below—above the vaulted sky.”

You're going to read?!

OMG!!
Wait until you see what she does with it, lol. There is a definite learning curve when it comes to vampiric powers...

EDIT: I'm going to use context clues and say that you are glad that she is a vampire? XD

You really brought us into Kaylas head as she was finally overcome by the magical blood and fear coursing through the Breton girl. Hard to turn? Yes. It seems Asta realizes that, in turning Kayla, all shes done is given her sister more powerful tools. The new vampire is still intent on killing Asta. Time for a new plan, Asta. Give up on Kayla and leave her trapped in a cave?

When I read the previous chapter I kept wondering how she was going to get out of this. Was Asta going to make a mistake? Was someone else going to come get her? Then I considered what if she turned. This part of her life is coming to a close Then I knew. And holy crap she did.

What is she going to do now? And when she gets out of this cave, where will she go?

When you said this part of her life was nearly over, I thought... uh oh. And now she's a vampire! And even angrier than before.

Her sister is just part of the problem now. I can't imagine that Kayla's Meridia friends will be OK with the Breton-killing. Heck, Meridia herself might have a new quest for adventurers at her shrine: Kill The Vampire Kayla (and Take Her Shiny Sword). sad.gif

I am very caught up in your story, E. Hollow!

I caught up!

Niruin...knew there was something suspicious about him. That traitorous [censored]! Then again, I saw that coming....

No....Ma'Dat! I hope he's gonna be okay sad.gif

Asta is...whiny, lol. The only thing worse than two sisters arguing, is two VAMPIRE sisters arguing rollinglaugh.gif

In honesty, all it takes is a good bashing on the head, and Asta should go down quite quickly. She can't possibly be THAT tough...then again, she IS a vampire. You should never underestimate a vampire...

I hope Kayla can get to Falion soon....I fear she might go insane if she is a vampire much longer... Though it could be quite beneficial to her. Is she more powerful that Asta?

I enjoyed reading these past three chapters! They were great! goodjob.gif

D'you know...This story is really quite good in places... tongue.gif ...

Bloody hell!!!...

This really is excellent stuff...

The fight in Rorikstead was so intense...

panic.gif MA'DAAAATTTT!!! Nooooooooooo!!!... panic.gif ...

And I loved Asta's temper about the fact that Kayla kept fighting against her turning...

It's going to be interesting to see how Meridia saves her vampire knight from this...

D'you know, if you'd said at the start that there's this stroppy wench and she's married, but don't worry 'cause he's going to get killed by a child-vampire, and then McStropster is going to go off and meet the coolest of Obi-Wan-esque knights that you're going to love, but then I'm going to have him - seemingly - killed by other child-vampires, and then the heroine who's been tearing at your heartstrings for ages now is going to become a vampire herself. I'm not sure I'd have been quite as sold somehow... tongue.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif ...

But I've loved all of it to now, and I've no doubt that I'll continue to love what's to come... biggrin.gif ...

Brilliant story from a brilliant writer...

Nice one!!...

*Applauds heartily*...

Last chapter, everyone! Again, thanks for sticking with Kayla. I said what I needed to last chapter. No more gushy stuff!!

=-=-=-=-=-=-

"I've been locked in here for 3 days. Asta rolled a boulder across the cave entrance, and I can't move it. She threw a young woman in here... Breton, another one... I can almost taste the magicka in her aura... Her arms and legs are broken, just like the last, so she can't cast. Or move. She just sits there and cries until she falls asleep, then moans in her sleep. It's too easy..."

"It's now been 5 days. the girl is still alive, but not by too much. she just looks at me, begging me to kill her..."

"I did it. I caved in. Meridia forgive me. But she was in pain. She looked at me and told me she wouldn't mind dying, that lying broken and starved in a cave was no way to die. She knew I was in pain and needed to feed. So I did. I tried to be gentle, but as soon as the blood touched my tongue... It was like an ecstacy I had never felt before. I dug deeper and deeper into her neck, and she only whimpered, then was silent. One breath. Two breaths. Gone. Her blood pumped into me, filling me up, awakening my senses, yet dulling them. I can't explain it..."

"I think Asta forgot about me. It's been another 5 days since feeding on that girl..."

"Blood. I need blood. I can hear the sound of my own tainted pulse, pounding sluggishly, mocking me. Tearing into my own skin does nothing to stop the sounds, the madness. It quenches nothing. I need blood!!!"

=-=

In spite of the care he took, a few rocks skittered down the cave entrance. He had several men roll the boulder away, where a woman wailing incoherently could be heard. Over the course of several months it had not stopped until recently, when he arrived in the small town. Locals pointed him southwest of the town, towards Riften. He followed the trail until he found the cave.

The men he had brought were hardened adventurers and seasoned vampire hunters. though they wanted to go inside and meet the vampire, he convinced them to stay outside in case he failed. Only then were they to come inside.

He found her lying on a bed, hands folded primly over her stomach like a sleeping princess. Her chest was completely devoid of breath, her face a pallid white. She wore mourner's clothing, a rough cloth dyed black spun into a dress. It came just above her knees, and he noticed she was barefoot. He moved carefully, slowly pulling the sword from its sheath.

She let in a small breath. He stopped, heart pounding in his head. She heard it. She opened her eyes slowly, fluttering her lashes gently, like a new butterfly testing its wings. Even a shadow of her former self, she was still beautiful to him. The gentle curve of her elongated ears, ones he had so un-gently rubbed years ago in a fit of passion, the purse of her now blue lips, once pink with laughter. Her eyes, once brown like a doe's, were crimson with thirst. She stretched, and mid-arch she saw him.

Before he could exhale, she was on him. Veins bulged in his arms and neck as he dropped his sword and strained to keep her jaws away from the most vulnerable parts of his unarmored body. She grunted and moaned in desire, desparately clawing at him. She panted, and his strength waned before her bloodlust did. His grip slipped, and she bit into his neck.

For a moment, all that registered was the sound of her ecstatic moans and the sound of her feeding. Then the pain hit. He began to sweat. Her hands stroked his face almost lovingly, then raked against his cheek. He yanked her arm away and tried to sit himself up. She pinned him down and bit deeper, causing him to grunt angrily in pain. Anything louder would alert the men outside. The sound echoed in the empty cave all the same, and he grabbed the hair on the back of her head and tore her away from him. Her red-lipped mouth cried out in anguish as she frantically tried to claw her way back to the wound on his neck.

He threw her backwards onto the cave floor, clamping his hand over the hole in his neck. He kicked her back down when she tried to scramble back up, the blow landing on her jaw. She let out a cry, desparate and pained.

"No!" She sobbed.

He grabbed his silver sword and pressed it to her heart. She glowered at him, and her mouth drew back in a snarl, revealing the blood-tinged fangs in it. He kept his blade to her as he rose, and she stared longingly at the wet, viscuous life leaking from between his fingers.

"This ends one of two ways," he murmured. "With this sword in your chest, or we get out of here and cure you. Your choice."

Her eyes had glazed over, but flitted to his face for a moment. She showed no recognition in her expression, nor did she acknowledge his words. Her fangs portruded over her reddened bottom lip, and her expression was dumbly blank. She blinked a few times as she searched his face, but her gaze eventually went back to his bleeding neck. She pressed herself against the sword in an attempt to stand up.

"Stop," he said. She stood up, her knees a bit wobbly. She steadied herself, and walked towards him. He kept the tip of the sword up, pressed to her chest. She stopped once she felt the point, and shuddered a sigh. His strength began to wane again, his wound needing healing. The tip of his sword drooped, and she rushed forward, jaw open wide.

It went clean through. She only stopped because she came to the hilt, preventing her from reaching his neck again. She exhaled and shuddered, her body not comprehending what had happened. She looked down at her stomach, and it dawned on her.

Wide-eyed, she looked at him. He let go of the sword, and she dropped to her knees. He knelt down with her, catching her before she could fall sideways. She looked up at him, and for her last moments, she was herself. Recognition lit up her eyes. She exhaled roughly, then gasped for air. She grasped for his hand, and he held it tightly.

"I'm so sorry," he moaned. Her lips twitched in the ghost of a smile.

"No... thank you."

Her grip slackened, and she was gone. He sat there with her body in his arms for what seemed like minutes, but only moved when strong arms lifted him up an hour later. He mumbled something about a proper funeral, but never heard the reply. He didn't hear one of the men pull the sword from the corpse, nor comment about how much of a shame it was that such a pretty Altmer was wasted. Someone tossed him a health potion. He was escorted back to town, his sword cleaned and placed gently in the corner of his room at the inn.

He laid down on the straw bed, the scratchy sheets irritating him. Emotionally he was numb. Physically he was in pain. He realized he was holding something. A small silver ring with scratches, dulled with wear.

Her wedding ring. He must have grabbed it without realizing it. He turned the small ring in his large hands, noting every dent and scratch, imagining where each of them came from. The long one from a hagraven claw, the dents where she was knocked down onto a cave floor, the deep scratches from when she was dragged...

He closed his hand. After a moment, he unclasped his amulet chaint and slipped the ring next to the pendant. That part of her would remain close to his heart. He slipped the chain back into his shirt under his armor.

He did not sleep that night. He did not sleep on the way back to Rorikstead, either. The hushed voices of the townsfolk went uheeded by him as he went straight to a particular house. The old Khajiit's ears perked up at his entrance. The door squeaked and slammed close. The Khajiit looked hopeful, but the Nord's expression filled his face with sadness. His tail flicked as he turned away from the much younger man and stared into the fire.

After a moment, he looked back to the young Nord.

"Welcome back," he rasped, his throat still healing. "Erik the Slayer."

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Once again rocks skittered down the entrance of the cave, the smaller figure loosening far less than the man who came before her hours ago. She was clean, primly dressed in a black dress with muted brown beaded embroidery on the edges of her sleeves and hem, yet moved as if the soft material meant nothing to her.

The man she dragged along, however, stumbled down and tripped over his own feet, drugged by fear and Skooma. She brushed her blonde hair from her face, dragging the panicking man dow the mouth of the cave. The man stumbled and fell headfirst down the incline of the cave, knocking himself out. Emelia murmured a soft apology before sliding gracefully the rest of the way down the cave entrance.

She left the man there while she inspected the elf she spotted on the ground. She gritted her teeth when the large wound in her stomach was spotted, and cast a detect life spell.

Alive... but barely.

Emelia pulled the mumbling, dirty man to Kayla. She dropped him next to her and concentrated on her wound. A warm glow emitted from the palms of her hands and the wound knit together before the vampire-child's eyes. Kayla coughed, her breathing shallow. Emelia took the man's wrist and, with the sharp nail on her thumb, flicked the vein open. A moment later, Kayla's eyes opened, a wild look in them. She yanked on the man's arm, pulling it out of the socket before knocking Emelia over to bite into the wound.

The man screamed and tried to yank his arm away, tearing at the wound more. Kayla bit harder before slamming the man's head into the ground with a snarl. That will kill him, if Kayla does not kill him first, Emelia thought.

She dug into his neck with her teeth, rooting for the vein that would bring her satisfaction. Emelia watched quietly as the Altmer woman drank, messily tearing at veins and muscles to get the blood she craved.

"I'll teach you how to do it properly," She murmured softly. Kayla paid no attention. When there was nothing left, Kayla pulled back, a look of horror on her face. Her hands shook.

"What have I-"

"Shh, shh, it's alright. He was a murdering rapist, addicted to skooma. I wouldn't bring you an innocent." Emelia held her hand out to Kayla.

"Come. Let's go before Asta finds us here."

Kayla took Emelia's hand, and they fled.

Oh WOW the twists and turns have me breathless! I love the beginning where being starved makes Kayla nutty, and then later the blood returns her to herself and takes some of her strength.

Emelia saves the night! With Erik the Slayer and MaDat thinking that they put her to rest, Emelia and Kayla are free at least until Asta decides to dig her Nisse back out of the cave. Im looking forward to finding out Emelias plan!

God damn that is one hell of an ending.

I don't really have much ele to say; Ma'Dat's alive (YAY!) Erik is truly deserving of the title Slayer (or should that be vampire slayer?) and Emilia was the unepxcted ally I thought she'd be (I'm a genius). Asta's in trouble now...

Now hurry up and write the sequel becuase if it's anything like this, it's going to be bloody awesome.

Yeah, sometimes you need to see the whole story instead of just a summary to properly appreciate it. I mean, if I'd told you that Madgod starts with the main characer killing his best friend and fleeing Nirn as a result, has him fight a Shoggoth and chat quite politely with one of the most deranged and evil mad scientists this side of Dr Frankenstein, hide whilst witnesing a human sacrifice to summon up an ultra-powerful tyranny daedra and do nothing to help the victim, do the bidding of a deity devoted to madness in all its forms, brieftly travel with a Dremoa and so with a supporting cast that includes a brothel madam and a drug-addicted cannibal,I somehow doubt you'd read it. And you bloody love it. laugh.gif

Well for all we know, this could be trickery by Asta. Manipulate Kayla into doing her bidding without having to deal with knees to the face and dental surgery every day.

And the cat lives! Hooray!

I'm really bad at summarizing things... Even asking me what something does makes me go O.O

But I'll write the best summary I can for book two (in regards to what has previously happened)

I've had that ending written for a month now. I only made one change to it, and that's when Emelia started pushing her little blonde head through the screen at me.

Again, thanks everyone for sticking with us through this. <3

So, to Erik and the tough old Khajiit (glad he made it), Kayla is gone. Ah, but reports of her death may be premature. It seems Emelia may teach Kayla to survive as a vampire and. . . it would not surprise me if Kayla leads Emelia to a cure for the curse they share.

A fine place to end this first portion of Kaylas story leaving us thirsting for more. smile.gif
