What makes this go-round work better (my opinion- YMMV) is that we get to see how others approach the subject. That includes YOU, Uleni! I expect to see that story!

Also- the short form makes it possible for someone who is time-limited to actually READ all of the stories. And (speaking from long-winded experience here)- writing a story that is short but that also is complete is a craft in itself. Doesn't mean you can't leave questions open- or hooks upon which to hang new stories- just- it has to come to a conclusion of some kind.

Now off to read more of Kayla kicking fundament while I wait.

Regarding the contest, here’s how my last two weeks went:

My story is a turd.

It just needs some polishing.

I need more pressure! Pressure makes diamonds. Just add pressure! I’ll stay up all night.

Zzzz.

This turd needs a rewrite.

Now I have a story. It is not a diamond, but neither is it a complete turd. It is my small little story, and it wouldn’t be here if I did not write it.

I’m glad I did.

@Uleni- Yes, I did. After thinking- "Nope- I have ZERO clue of a glimmer of a thought of how to write on that topic." So I was sitting at my desk at work- and the whole concept for what I wanted to write came to me. So I scribbled 1000 words and it looked like I would be done in another 1000. (Grumble mumble cuss words).

THEN I read the rules and realized what I had was NOT TES. More kicking of self.

Finally just decided to finish- just to see where it would go. It was like... 2726 words. OK- I know- I should not have cared. But- what I tell others to "not worry about" and what I do in the privacy of my own cob-webbed mind are two very different things.

Looked for places where I could add by actually ADDING substance as opposed to padding.

Begged Athynae for help in "fixing it." Which she kindly provided.

Did minimal fixing and submitted last night.

Did my "read aloud" to Mrs. Treydog this afternoon and found like 5 typos.

URF.
