I have Premium Edition for the PC as part of my collection and the reason I´m talking PS3 is because I got hold of the Collector´s Edition for it. I couldn´t find a copy of the CE for any other platform so that´s why I have it for the PS3.

And yes, Steam is the reason I won´t play it on PC. I´m not a trained monkey who´ll do anything just because someone said so. I mean what´s next? Do I have to get a specific car or a tattoo just to be allowed to buy TES VI?
No thanks. I´ll stick with my non-Steam, non-DRM, non-Jumping through hoops, perfectly legal with no goddamn strings attached Game Boy if I have to

This was a new thing for me, Amren reacting to my character's race. Details like this one make my day, I can't get impressed by dragons but I can easily get impressed by this stuff.

Oh I get it now. If Darkness Eternal or some of the other gamers who are actively on PS3 could chime in, and let us know if the latest patches worked or not (for performance issues) I would trust their opinion. I haven't been gaming on PS3 since last June, so I have no idea whether these patches have done the trick or not.

I've learned that is not the case. You can delete the modded script file just fine, the original script will unpack from the BSA when the modded one is not present.

Getting scripts from mods to shutdown correctly can be a hassle however, but that is another topic not related to installing mods.

Sorry, as I'm on Fallout 3 at the mo, I don't tend to happen around these parts... ...

But, as that's been a recent move, and was recently on the amazingly named Erich Krannt , I can absolutely say that I have had no problem on either of the previous 100+ hour characters I've done...The only time there was a problem was very early on where I had Olfsson kill the backwards dragon, then it lagged, but only while I was in the same cell as it, once I'd left, the lag disappeared...

All of the additions; the seeing underwater things, the Solstheim additions...Hearthfire...I've not seen anything that I would class as a problem really...

For me, the game on the PS3 is (now, finally ) amazing...

Though, we're still not trusting Dawnguard to not put the vampire glitch into the game... ...

If you have really do have the money for it, buying a PS3 for Skyrim and/or any other PS3 game is well worth it, IMHO... ...

My original character played since Nov. 11 runs smooth as silk. My second character’s game (303 hours and 14 MB) stutters badly, but I’m taking steps to possibly improve it. I haven’t had time to check my other PS3 characters.


Here’s something I hadn’t heard before. My character hopped over the bed in the course of maneuvering around the crowd in the kids’ room. Kid remarked in a wistful tone, “I’m not allowed to stand on the furniture.”

PS3 doesn't cost too much nowadays, too. Here in America it's less than 300 bucks new, I'm not sure what you would pay in Scandinavia.

With the PS4 coming out later this year, a PS3 might not be a good investment. Then again, they will probably sink a lot lower than $300 after the PS4 launches. You could probably pick one up dirt cheap then.

Considering that the PS4's memory architecture won't support backwards compatibility for PS3 games, if you want to play Skyrim you'll need to get a PS3 in any case. It may be worth waiting for the PS4 to come out, though if the pricing trends of the PS2 after the PS3 release are any indicator that won't significantly drive the price down.

Sure they´re not making it backwards compatible? In my world that´s a sales argument. Then again, I´m not a salesman...

I don't know for sure, but I highly highly doubt PS4 will have backwards compatibility with Skyrim (don't know about other PS3 games). I read something about the PS4 has hardware that is closer to the hardware found in a PC or something, meaning that it won't be as difficult for programmers to put new games on it.

But if I had to place a bet, I'm putting money on no backwards compatibility. So get a PS3 while it's cheap if you want to, but don't wait for the PS4. It'll be WAy overly expensive when it comes out, anyways.

I'd heard that they're going to a different CPU architecture. So the older games would have to run through an emulator, which would be very bad for performance - i.e. you might as well run them on your old box.

It's likely the CPU and GPU cores will be on the same die. AMD and Intel are both doing that, and nVidia talking about it.

The PS4 (and the next-gen Xbox) will be using CPU's that are PC-compatible, so the development systems will produce code that works on all of the platforms. The UI's will still need to be coded to match the controller/keyboard/mouse available, but the core engine will be common. It remains to be seen if Sony insist on platform exclusives and spoil that for the players.

In other words, soon we have games which will be 100% compatible with all systems which means we can just as well have only one system with different controller options.

I doubt that'll happen somehow... ...

Lady Saga, in the UK a brand new 500GB PS3 (which is the only size available in the largest high st. retailer at the mo) is a pence shy of £250...And insurance against its sudden death etc is just shy of £60 on top...I've seen Skyrim for £20, but it's most likely to be around the £30 mark...

I'm not sure about the exchange rate to see how expensive that would be in dollars, and I'm also not sure of what that would be where Microu is...But it's definitely not something you do lightly... ...
