The first GI Joe was highbrow? Okay, my world no longer makes sense... I was thinking that too... It does not bode well for the sequel though! Yes, the sequel is that good... ... Think that other colossus of filmmaking that The Rock found himself in...The Scorpion King...Actually, that one wasn't too bad... Maybe the one he wasn't involved in...The Scorpion King II...Yes, GI Joe is worse than a straight to DVD film folks... ... Ah, yeah, I say that...but I still enjoyed it...Ach...I'm confused... ... ... I could not bring myself to sit through the Scorpion King 1... What about the Scorpion King 3? Didn't that one have Ron Perlman and Billy Zane in it? The first Scorpion King was the best one. The second and third were cheap B rated movies. No Rock, no Scorpion King.

I've never understood why people liked The Rock's in movies. I have smelled what The Rock is cooking and it smells like terrible films to me.

QUOTE(King Of Beasts @ Apr 8 2013, 05:33 PM) Cheaper by the dozen. It's a real nice movie to watch on a sick day Real throwback! Love that movie! Stever Martin was hilarious in that one.

Because we're not willing to pay 35-40 to see a 3D film of any length...No...Not even The Hobbit...There was absolutely no way we were going to see the 90 minute film, Dredd, in the cinema, as it was only in 3D over here... So when I was ambling around the nearest Tesco and found the completely 2D DVD for 7 I thought, "Wha-hey!!" and bought it... Watched it last night...It was a truly amazing bit of film making, and had they let it out into the realm of ye bog-standard 2D cinemas, it probably would have been a huge hit and thusly have made its production costs back... That said, the obviously-intended-for-3D bits were pretty damned glorious actually, even on t'tele...*Impressed face*...Karl Uban was really damned good as Judge Dredd...And the one that played Judge Anderson was really really pretty damned pretty... ... ... Damned good film...If you see it cheap, well worth 90 mins of your time... ...

The nearest two cinemas are either The Vue or Cineworld...Both are now charging for teen tickets at 13...And the daughter's 14...And we tried the "Only thirteen" ruse a couple of times, but we got a funny look the last time and never bothered again... So, going by the prices I just looked at at the Vue, Adults are 10 each, boy would be 7.50 and girl would be 7.85... They've dropped the price of the family ticket from the 35 it was...I think they were pricing themselves out of bums on seats... ...

Second question: Why the hell were you taking young children to see a film as insanely violent as Dredd 3D? (which, if you ask me, should be viewed in 3D, because that film is absurdly pretty)

... A fair point... Yes, I may have spoken wrongly there... ... Yes, Dredd was an 18 Cert and therefore taking the kids were never an option...But the pricing point remains, just the difference between 15 for 2D and 20 for a 90 min 3D film instead... That's a difference of a fifth of one standard 2D family film...And we'd rather keep the money to go see another film as a family than go see a film that, as was proved, reasonable enough on DVD... So we're definitely reluctant to go the 3D route with the pricing, let alone the migraines we'd get... ... I think I was just stuck on the family film prices when I first tried to make the point... ... ...

QUOTE(SubRosa @ Apr 12 2013, 01:38 AM) I just started watching Babylon 5 once again. In spite of how rough the pilot episode was, damn, this is good sci-fi! It is good to hear those old quotes again:
"The sky was full of stars, and every star was one of our ships... exploding."
and of course.
"There is a hole in your mind."
OOooh, we saw Tamlyn Tomika in Bones last night...It were lovely to see her... My fave quote line from B5 is - "You have forgotten something."...Always gives me shivers... Men In Tights is a class film... ...

I want to spend as much time with my Snuggles tomorrow and I can't if I'm sleeping off a hangover lol
