GOT makes me want to play Oblivion . . . If anyone watches the show, who enjoyed the fight scene between The Hound(I freaking love this guy) and Berric Dondarrion? The fact that the Hound is afraid of fire ever since his brother shoved his face into a furnace as a child makes this fight intense! And they're killing off main characters too! Anyone ever read the books, though?

Yep, still waiting on the last one. That was a great fight scene. Love the show! I still have to check out the books. I love the characters. In season 1 and 2 the hated ones seem to be redeeming themselves quite nicely, and Jaime(the biggest snot of them all) was actually the victim and the hero and not the murderer the entire land blames him to be. What a turn around! QUOTE(SubRosa @ Apr 30 2013, 05:27 PM) Just started the 3rd season of Babylon 5. Keffer found the Shadows, and paid for it. Narn has been occupied. Kosh has revealed himself. The first White Star has seen action. JMS really knows how to tell an epic tale.
"The Babylon Project was our last best hope for peace. It failed. But in the year of the Shadow War, it became something greater. Our last, best hope... for victory."
I want to check out this show. What channel does it air on?

I want to check out this show. What channel does it air on? Netflix, sorry to say. The show ended about 15 years ago. You Tube might have some complete episodes. This post has been edited by SubRosa: Apr 30 2013, 05:39 PM

Sockshare or Putlocker might have them too. It really was a great show. JMS - the creator - draws heavily upon LOTR for inspiration, and on Joseph Campbell's Hero Cycle. He creates a story of truly epic proportions. It was ground-breaking for its time. It is the first tv show to use cgi instead of models for its effects shots. It is one of the first shows to be shown in a serial format, telling a single story over its five year run. Nowadays that is pretty normal. But in the 90s, it was extremely rare. Even the Trek shows and X-Files did not have a single, overarching storyline. This post has been edited by SubRosa: Apr 30 2013, 05:41 PM

Well boys and girls (and lizards and cat-folk), it's that time of year again. Have successfully survived another year, and to reward me Marvel Entertainment is giving me another spectacle to attend. Tonight, on a Thor's Day night, I shall attend the premiere of Thor's ferrous teammate's third solo adventure, in glorious IMAX. My review shall come after I have witnessed the film, though you may have to wait while I celebrate Tony Stark-style by getting sloshed. See you on the other side.

QUOTE(McBadgere @ May 2 2013, 11:40 PM) Ooooh, Gwyneth Iron Man in IMAX!!...Niiiiice... ... Yes, the scorching hotness of Gwyneth in IMAX is sufficient to make most heterosexual single men do a double-take, particulary fans of red-heads such as myself. That's right my friends, it's time for Cappy's Marvel Birthday Movie Review, brought to by Joss Whedon (or rather, my continued hopes and dreams to be cast in The Avengers 2). Short version: go see Iron Man 3, in the I(ron)MAX 3D if you can. Shane Black takes the directive level to an impressive high-point with the fight scenes in the new installment, and the new outlook of Tony Stark reminds us that he's more than just a guy with a really nice suit, he's a guy with the ability to make nice suits. And then be a Bad@$$ while he's at it. Long version: This movie doesn't have to work as a set-up to the roll-out of The Avengers continuity and it shows. Tony Stark's back in Malibu, Pepper Potts isn't frustrated trying to baby-sit Stark Industries while waiting for Tony to come back, and Happy is well aware that his new job is a necessity since Iron Man doesn't need a bodyguard or a driver anymore (see: Iron Man 2, The Avengers). The villain work is fantastic. Ben Kingsley is exactly the guy to play the Mandarin, and the expectation of Ham-to-Ham combat is avoided entirely by actually relying on a compelling story of a villain whose magnificent theatrics are really just the calculated maneuvering of a deep and focused intellect whose goals, resources, and plans have a legitimate shot at succeeding in the worst possible way. This isn't a story that makes you think "Oh, if only Tor, Cap and Dr. Banner were there to help out Tony and make all right in the Marvelverse." They make multiple mentions of the most recent cinematic entry in the manner similar to how we make references to our own collective tragedies. They say "nothing's been the same since New York" and the images are of Loki's foiled invasion, just as we would say "nothing's been the same since 9/11" and the understandings of that fundamental change in society's collective conscience is understood. No spoilers in my review save this one: At this point Marvel has basically formalized their practice of including the after-credits stinger, Iron Man 3 is no exception, wait, it's worth it, and the over-credits music is actually enjoyable enough that you shouldn't mind. Cap, Out! This post has been edited by Captain Hammer: May 4 2013, 03:03 AM
