Not a lot is up to be honest. I'm graduating on the seventh and moving cross-country after. Then I get to wait a year so that I can get residency at the college I want to attend indifferent.gif

But, life is going well. And I may start writing again, but I'm just not feeling it at the moment. Too much going on.

Edit: And it's a pleasure to meet you, KoB.

You're going to be over here east by me and Kobby!

Just don't think about it. Now is your time to try and relax.

You mean that she shouldnt just dont think about it? That the Elder Council will take care of it, sooner or later?

I agree with McB. Listen Kobby, you are staying up all night and getting no sleep, of course you don't feel like going to school. You have to stand up for your future and insert a little self discipline. IF you can't make it in a classroom but are really trying (which from what I've seen on here you have not tried at all, and just showing up in school doesn't cut it) - then there are alternative things you have to do for your own sake.

1. Have your school set you up for taking the GED. You will graduate high school without having to go to school if you can pass that test.

My older son had ADHD just like you have - he HAD to go get his GED because he was expelled from every school in 60 miles from our house. Just like his dad, neither one of them made it past the 8th grade in school, but both him and his dad were extrememly intelligent - just couldn't sit in a classroom.

My son went to work, and the year he turned 18 he was filing 30,000 per year on his tax returns. (He makes a LOT more than that now annually)

The GED is not as impressive as actually graduating, but without self discipline you will never get through to graduate. The GED is much better than dropping out. Much better. At least you will have actually graduated.

It's not that I'm tired, it's that I'm sick of failing. Honestly, I'm not going I drop out of school, I'm too stubborn too(I was in a bad mood this morning, lol.), and I usually do okay on homework, it's just the tests that get me. My worst subject is definitely math. I've been trying to work on that lately. I'm saying free school more often to work on stuff like that.

I'm trying, I really am. I'm just getting sick of dealing with teachers that give me a bad attitude, and failing tests.

Find a female guidence counselor at your school - females like you. Tell her exactly what you just said on this comment and ask her what resources they have to help you get through to graduation. Connecticut has excellent schools, they should have access to plenty of resources.

Even if they don't, there is a Federal program called the "No child left behind" act that was set up for all the ADHD youth that were falling through the cracks in schools. It is resources the school can tap when their local resources aren't cutting it.

You can't do it all alone, Kobby. Your guidence counselors get paid to help you find the best path through for your individual needs.

I was sick and tired of tests in school too, Kobby. I hated homework and all the "important" things they wanted me to get inside my head. I wasnt a brainchild but I got through it, just like you will.

What helped me alot was games, surprise, surprise! They helped me relax in between studies and I dont know, maybe I was lucky, but I usually got good score at those pesky tests. You will too, because whatever youve got youre still smart and that will shine through smile.gif

Let me tell you about one test in particular. It was about myths and legends and stuff and I felt like I had it pretty much under control. But when I had the test I failed big time. And I mean big time! So I did it again one week later or so. That time I aced it. Why? Who knows, it was a different day thats all. I didnt read like a maniac or anything before the second attempt. I remember I browsed through the book and put it away to play some game.

Im not saying you should go play games like I did. No really, I dont mean that laugh.gif My point is everyone has different ways to relax and we all have good days and bad days. My first attempt at that test I had a bad day, second try I had a good day. Sometimes it can be as simple as that.

Look, Im not saying I know what its like to have ADHD, but I know youll get through school, Kobby. Even if you dont get straight A:s in everything youll still get through it. And if there are some people that dont understand your situation, bring someone in to make them understand! They cant flunk you because you may need extra time or a second try.
My sister luckily has a very stubborn mother laugh.gif and that helped her at school alot. She has trouble learning some things and the teachers almost called her stupid! Shes not, for the record, she just dont understand certain things sometimes and needs extra help and our mother helped her get that and she passed school alright smile.gif

I know you can ace this, Kobby. All you need to do is show us goodjob.gif

Buddy, I'm failing a class. I dread going to school every day, because I know that class is coming. It doesn't matter if I don't study or I do, I still fail the tests. But I still go every day.

It sucks, but it's what we have to do. A diploma opens a lot of doors, anyways. Just finish it, get it over with, and move on with your life. If you won't do it for everyone else here, do it for yourself. You owe it to yourself to graduate after more than a decade of work.

The reason I haven't been going lately is because I've been a bit sick since I came back from my Africa trip. Never again, lol
