Wait, wait...no...it's a myth.

It's not small enough to enter the urethra of a male, and the one case of...the other gender's mishap, the Doctor was able to remove it with his bare hands by pushing forward and then twisting it around and pulling it out headfirst.

Plus, they *do* smell urea, but the force of typical human urination is too strong for the candiru to swim against, and they hunt primarily through visual tracking.

There's been stories, yes, and most unconfirmed. But try selling newpapers with boring headlines.

Okay, there is one confirmed case of it, actually. But again, it's apparently very rare. Probably an infant, and probably as dude was just finishing up.

EDIT 2: Just saw the River Monster Footage...get the Death Ray....

But apparently the fish wasn't 5-6 inches when first entered, but rather after gorging itself on his blood for 4-5 days.

I just watched a episode of river monsters about this fish. I forget the dudes name, but he was taking a pee in the river, and the fish swam up his....

Yeah, just saw it myself, and re-edited. Prepare the for the Annhilation of all life in Amazon...so terrible is this tragedy, even all memory of it must be wiped clean.
