I have ADHD. Ive never paid full attention to what was going on in class in my entire life. I doubt I have autism...

I too was suspected of having ADD, and the teachers wanted to drug me and put me on ritalin well before they even sent me too a Therapist to get diagnosed.

My Father was livid at this suggestion, and told them where to shove it.

His position was that I was bored by the pace of the class and the school couldn't keep up with me.

I think he was right, as one of my 'symptoms' was that while taking turns reading I read ahead three, four pages from the rest of the class. I was an accomplished reader by age six, and there is not a time that I remember being unable too read, unlike several of my friends and people I've talked too.

I am not saying that you do or do not have ADHD, I am saying that you're a clearly bright individual and they estimate as many as six to seven kids out of ten are misdiagnosed solely for the ease of the parents and school.

Now, I don't know you or your situation, and I certainly don't recommend taking advice from a stranger off the internet, however if you've been told you have something your whole life, it's easy for the mind to make it manifest. Especially if it's a 'mental disorder' something that is intangible, and many supposed ADD kids are in fact highly creative and readily learn new concepts and ideas.

You strike me as such a person.

I suspect that ADHD, Aspergers - which is suffered by some in this house - and autism all live in pretty much the same cul-de-sac of the mind, do they not?...Well, that was pretty much my understanding of it...

There is a wide spectrum of autism. It doesn't mean solely one type of person, the type people typically think of when you say autistic. If I was home, I'd link you to an article that better explains it. But I have six hours til home.

You don't actually come across as such, perhaps slightly 'clueless' for lack of a better term, which I thought was merely a play for the benefit of others and your 'online persona'.

If my words hurt or insulted in anyway, I was merely joking and were certainly not intentional.

That being said, I do know several people who are autistic, ranging from the relatively minor Asperger's Syndrome to full-blown incapable of interacting with people socially on 'normal' terms.

Each and everyone of them are wonderful people, and are quite frankly brilliant human beings. Like...Bill Gates, Benjamin Franklin, Stephen Hawking brilliant.

I often fear they will take over everything, and that'll just be a Tuesday for them....
