And we're back. Likely, you're thinking,..."when did he leave?" Well, I did, then I said it would be awhile before I was ready to speak again. Then I realized I was making a scene, like someone announcing that he had to use the restroom to the entire restaurant as he stood up from his table. Even I would be like: "Um, then just go. Why do we care? Do what you need to do!" FAQ'sWhat Happened?!What happened was I am a drama king. Pardon the gender-specifics, but it turns out I am sensitive after all. It's best described by a line from a Bush song, entitled "Out Of This World", which goes as follows: "I am alive/ I'm awake to the trials and confusions we create"It was all in my head and I needed to relieve my head of the crap it had stored. So you're back?As though I never left. Are you going too pull some drama like this again? You know the story of the boy who cried wolf, right?Probably. And yes I do, which is why it's best to ignore me. Fine. Welcome back. Now entertain us. Dance, Monkey! DANCE!!Very well. I shall post some pic's of my latest unholy acquisition. Dhakira. Dhakira means "memory" in Arabic, and while I don't usually name inanimate objects, I felt as though a journal with a woman's face sculpted right on the cover could serve as a reason to anthropomorphize one.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3h64KteoBoPZ3lZZbQdbvgEntire Line of them. Makes walking around with it impractical however. Still looking for the 'perfect' pocket journal. Been using the Rustico, which can take the beating of being in a back pocket, but the binding is glued, meaning it doesn't lay flat, which makes writing rather difficult. About to use a Canson "sketch book" as the final pages of the rustico are finally about done. The Canson does lay flat, but it's a hard cover, meaning it doesn't conform to my seated form. We'll see however, field testing and all that. EDITED TO ADD: Here is the actual website. http://www.alittlepresent.com/This post has been edited by Black Hand: Jun 23 2013, 07:37 PM

OMG that is so pretty! I always end up going for Paperblanks myself, because I find them gorgeous. I don't use them much because I don't do much writing longhand - I type so quickly that writing by hand just feels way too slow. The main exception is doing maths, and that's a matter for scrap paper. So really the main thing I use paper journals for is for when I'm on holiday without computer... e.g. I do a lot of long-distance cycling trips and tend to keep a diary of my days (generally ending up in mixed English and German and illustrated with stick figures).

Some of these are really pretty too! @ Liz - I HAVE to have lined pages, or the journal would be totally unreadable. If I don't have the limit of the lines there is no telling how big and crooked my letters would form. I used to get a 20 dollar journal every year, but the same journal went up to 50 the last couple years - I couldn't see how I could validate paying that much for it and didn't want a different style (IE = cheaper) journal either - they just didn't fit my needs or desires. So my journal keeping went out the window.

QUOTE(Kazaera @ Jun 23 2013, 12:34 PM) I always end up going for Paperblanks myself, because I find them gorgeous. They sell them at the art store which I frequent for my calligraphy supplies. They're not bad by any means, but I prefer blank over lined. Which is ironic as I will usually end up using a lined paper behind the blank page as a guide. I think I'm just trying to emulate journals from the colonial period... QUOTE(Elisabeth Hollow @ Jun 23 2013, 12:38 PM) I went to Barnes and Nobles a few months ago and fell in love with a red soft-leather journal with blank lineless pages. I swore to myself I'd own such a journal one day...when I could afford to spend my money on a $65 notebook lol
I also frequent that place. If I might make a suggestion. The refillable B&N Bombay leather wrap.Twenty bux (when you can shell it out.) and five bucks for the refills. Now, I know you might be tempted to go with Fiorentino version and refills. DON'T! The Kraft brand doesn't smear or bleed and will accept virtually any ink applied to it, whereas the Fiorentina will not, and does tend to bleed and smear, and is at least twice as expensive. Plus, not one, but TWO~! nifty pen holders in the front wrap there....hmmm. I'll post some pics of my old one in here to show what I mean. This second one has a message specifically for Mrs. Hollow. EDITED TO ADD: mALX, looks like we have winner here for you than. They make some other covers as well. Or at least did once upon a time. ImpSnob: If you're confused, it means your on the right path. It keeps you hungry and open. Never stop being confused. EDIT #2: Here's the Distressed Leather Version. The inside is like a black velvet as I recall. It was a little more greenish IRL than I preferred so I ended up gifting it to a friend. But has the pen inserts as well.
