To pile on a bit in re the secretarial job things. If your keyboarding skills are up to par, it might be worth a shot. Someone once told me "experienced only need apply" sometimes meant they wanted someone with known work record- not necessarily in the particular job.

Regardless- have confidence in yourself. Take on tasks and training one thing at a time. Get a small notebook- learning a new job is not a "memory contest." And finally- know we are all pulling for you.
