Thanks all... ...It was an extremely fun day out...The kiddles are off on school holidays so we try to do some sort of trip to somewhere each week...They love it...They really do... ...Nah, there are the occasional grumble but mostly they enjoy it...However, they absolutely loved saturday...Which cheered us no end as we were completely wiped out by it!... ...

@Acadian, one of the best things about around here is the amount of history there is within a short distance...An hour's drive in most directions (not north though...Half and hour will see you in the Irish Sea ) will see you past gawd knows how many ancient hill-forts, ruined castles, sites of battles, not-so-ruined castles...All you need is the petrol money really... ...

Kazaera!!...Pretty epic mountains right there!!...That's mega impressive!!...Don't think I could stay in the hotel under that cliff...Nope...I'd be forever expecting it to fall forward... ...

Kazaera, I want to go there! Beautiful, thank you for sharing. I’m afraid I’m right there with your dad. For every great view I take a lot of pictures of insects and flowers.

The insects and flowers are transient, so grab the shots while you can. Unless the light is unusual, the view's normally going to be the same later, so those shots can wait. You just have to make sure you go back to the places that are are worth taking pictures of. If they're not worth going back to, you wouldn't bother with the picture, right?

Step stool. Well, there aren´t really any steps but it´s made to be stood upon to reach those otherwise unreachable places

The bench and step stool are pretty rough when you examine them closely and that´s how I like it to be. Wooden things made for the outdoors shouldn´t be smooth and polished if you ask me. Which you didn´t

I don´t really know how long it took since I´ve been working on it on and off for a long time now. Lately though it´s just been some minor adjustments. But it didn´t take much more than a day before it was pretty much done. I had to take two pieces of wood and glue them together (you can see the joint between the dark and the light wood) and then I placed a template over it and drew the lines with a pencil. Then I just cut it out and started polishing it. And boy, have I been polishing it!

Awesome, mirocu! I completely agree about outdoor wooden things. I enjoy how weather changes the surfaces. And I sit on a towel if I think there might be splinters.

In any case I´m done polishing it now!

I like how the surface changes too and I actually think it looks better then and not when it´s brand new But you don´t need a towel if you come on over, Grits. There are no splinters in my bench

Absolutely LOVE that bench! Is that Behr stained? Looks incredible! I could use the footstool too, lol.

Not exactly sure what a Mjölner is (wait, you mean Thor's hammer?), but the wood looks so smooth, satiny soft! I was highly impressed by your landscaping - and your arm as well. Muscular, not too thin; hands immaculately clean (even the fingernails!) despite the hard work - well done, Mirocu! Show us the rest of you on that bench! (and no, not asking for a nude shot, ROFL !!! Jeans and shirtless maybe?) ROFL !!!

I'm just kidding with you, I loved these pictures. You make some amazing stuff in that shop behind your house!

Yep, Thor´s hammer. Back in the days the hammer was a symbol of good luck and protection And yes, the wood made for that is smooth, but not the rest of the stuff

Thanks! Not so sure they´re so good myself, but I guess insecurity runs in the family. My dad´s cousin´s dad was a carpenter, and a damn good one. But he always said "Oh, that can´t be done" and "Is that thing still not broken?" But I rather think he was joking

AWESOME shield !!!! Now all you have to do is find one of those groups around your area that re-enact battles with wooden swords and shields, etc. KC got in one this summer and had a blast!

I wasn´t actually too focused when I made that shield. I was sort of in a bad place at the time and I didn´t make it as good as it could have been. But I guess it turned out decent enough for me to keep it
