I've been kinda sick these past few days, and missed some work. I am just remembering a dream I had during bouts of medicine and getting better.

In the dream my brother had a laptop he wasn't using, so I started messing around with it. I was like YES I have to figure this out, I want to finally get some mods into my game! .. it was not to be, though. I kept getting interrupted by people and situations in the dream, every time I'd sit down with the lap top something else would distract me. rolleyes.gif

Wish I could remember the rest of whatever happened. biggrin.gif Is it even possible to buy a lap top that'll run mods on Oblivion and/or Skyrim? Dumb question, I guess, but I'm in the habit of thinking that only a full desktop computer will do so.

You can get a laptop that will run either game with mods. It will just cost you a lot more than buying the equivalent in a desktop.

Oh dangit. Oh well. I should find out what sort of laptop he has IRL (I know he has one) and then I'll ask you if it's suitable for gaming with. I can see just getting a laptop and hooking it up to my TV screen for a bigger picture. I'd have to figure out how to get an Xbox controller to work with a PC too, which I know is possible.

Or one of these days I'll go whole hog and just get a damn gaming PC. biggrin.gif Agh...

I am finally going to get Fallout 3, since I recently learned it's set in Washington D.C., and I also need something new for awhile as summer starts to wind down. I had a series of dreams last night now that I've made this decision, each and every one of them about Fallout. Most of these dreams were pretty mundane, with me kinda exploring a peacful area. There was one in which I was with a young female (kinda like the girl in the original Resident Evil video game) and she was running up to some sort of fortress. She was trying to get inside, but had to keep hiding from some sort of enemy. I don't remember the rest, but I keep having dreams of Fallout, so this is interesting.

I also had a dream a couple months ago; one of those dreams I'll probably never forget. I was on The Mall in Washington D.C., where the museums are and the Capitol, etc. It was night-time and in the future. The entire world was under some sort of attack. The sky was dark becuase it was night, but it was also filled with smoke. A large group of us were trying to find some place to gather so we could have shelter, but everything was chaotic, and we weren't having much success.

At one point, a large explosion happened BOOM! and the Washington Monument fell all across the Mall. It fell less than a quarter mile from us, and it was LOUD. This is when I woke up. Now that I think of it, this seems like it could have been a future foretelling of my involvement with FO3.

Sounds to me like those dreams would push you further away from the Fallout series, rather than drag you in! tongue.gif

Those are cool dreams! You can probably get FO3 pretty cheap now too.

Thanks, mirocu. smile.gif Between you and Lopov, I think I'll have plenty of help. I've already learned that we haven't as much choice for making characters as we do in TES. From what I've heard, we can choose 4 races, but the character will always be young, for instance. I wanted my first char. to be middle-aged. This doesn't bother me, though. I need an excuse not to RP as heavily as I usually do. I won't be playing this game DiD either. No way!

Yes, I got FO3 yesterday, and it was only $17.95. It's kind of a spiritual moment for me that I'm going to try this game, because as a child I had a lot of fears of the entire world coming to an end, all due to some idiots pressing a few buttons somewhere. I'm actually gonna be facing a few fears while playing a videogame. blink.gif

I do, not all the time but I do nevertheless.
Often if I am writing something I will end up going over it in my dreams - dramatising it and upon waking I will end up with a need to write it down or edit what I have previously put down.

Obviously of course, there's an entire world there, not to mention you know who, as well and everything ticks away whilst I am not thinking of anything in this world, and so inevitably it all ends up being visualised when I sleep...

W00T! Congrats. FO3 is a fun game, with a definite tongue-in-cheek sense of humor. The song in the opening credits is a great example of that: "I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire."

I've been seeing lots more guns since I've started Fallout 3. As usual, most of these dreams have been vague, but the one I had this morning was memorable.

I owned three vehicles in this dream (this was something I just kinda 'knew') and was driving one of them--a Subaru Forester. I drove around to a couple locations, including a house I was living in. One of my other vehicles was some sort of truck, larger than the Subaru, but this truck did not make an appearance in the dream.

At some point, I wound up in some sort of mall. A shoping mall, not the Mall in D.C. most Fallout gamers are familiar with. But still, there's probably some significance here. The mall and the Mall. I wandered around this shopping mall. I believe I was looking for something. This is one of those dreams in which I was suddenly not wearing enough clothes for public viewing, and so at some point I began scrambling from here to there in my underwear. ohmy.gif

Towards the end of the dream, I exited the mall, and it was nighttime outside. There were lights here and there, but I had walked into a mostly-deserted parking lot. A black man who kinda reminds me of Lucas Simms came up and greeted me, but I was wary of him, and for good reason. After his greeting, he brought out a gun, and began loading it, slowly and methodically.

That's when I ran! I was sure he was going to shoot me, so I ran. I don't remember if he called out to me or not, whether or not he was actually trying to shoot me. No bullets flew. I was looking for my Subaru, could not find it, so I was trying to find some sort of shelter I could hide behind, at least.

...and this is also one of those dreams in which I was running towards something (shelter) but my feet did not seem to be moving fast enough. Didn't matter, within moments I was awake.

I had three bizarre instances last night while dreaming.

(1) I didn't get much sleep this weekend, and usually if this happens, I have trouble actually falling asleep when the time comes. Well, I've got a really good idea for my next Skyrim character. He's going to be an Altmer Thalmor agent doing Skyrim's Civil War, aiding the Imperials. I'm pretty psyched about him (it'll be another 'him').

While falling asleep, I didn't actually dream about him, but I heard his voice. He spoke in the same snooty Altmer voice we often hear in Oblivion elves (think Falcar, Anval Uvani, etc.) and he used a lot of big words. The thing about the dream stage is that in my case, all-a-sudden things become a lot more spontaneous. So it wasn't like I was thinking up things to say, it was as if HE was saying things to me. Although I don't remember any of it specifically, here's an example.

"I have not heard you betray me, yet I felt thine come-uppances make entrance into mine thoughts".

That was automatic writing; a process where the writer thinks up the first thing that comes into his/her head. Now granted, that's not one of the things he said to me, but it's an example of the freedom of random creativity that was going on. Hard to explain. What he actually said to me was a heck of a lot more creative, and a lot more intriguing than what I just wrote, because during the dream stage our minds open more fully, if we can allow this to happen.

Bottom line: I don't go around talking like that everyday, is what I mean to say. wacko.gif

So later on after I actually had fallen asleep, and then woke up at about 1AM, I didn't remember what my new Altmer said to me specifically, but I did have a series of memories of him speaking to me. I got up to use the bathroom, and realized it was raining outside. RAIN! I only make new characters when it rains. So I fired up my Xbox, and waited until the Tutorial got to the part where we get to name our latest Prisoner. And created my new Altmer.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(2). I had a second actual dream this time, not a series of random ramblings. Those of you who play Skyrim are certainly familiar with the landscape around Whiterun, right? Well, instead of Whiterun, there were a series of modern Earth buildings located upon this landscape. I lived in a home located roughly where the Battleborn's farm stands in the game. Make sense?

Although I don't remember the entire dream, at some point I was trying to set up a flatscreen TV (and some other appliances) outside instead of in my home. Why was I trying to set this stuff outside? Who knows! Dreams are funny. Anyways, if you can picture the hill that's just south of Whiterun (where the wolf always attacks us) this is the area I was trying to set up my TV.

At some point towards the end of this silly dream, I was back in my house, and realized that it's useless to set a flat-screen TV up so far away from where I'm actually living. I decided I needed to grab this stuff, and bring it into my actual home. wacko.gif What a wacko dream, eh? .. I wish I knew what it frickin' means, if anything.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(3). Hi Callidus, there is more to come, and here is the last (and most interesting) one of all.

I was walking a character who I'm pretty sure was Marge N. Overra through sections of Los Angeles. The world had come to an end, and Marge was with a series of survivors in L.A. I'm forgetting how the dream started, dammit. Arrgh! I"ve been wanting to write this all day, but ya know, had to go to work.

The part that I DO remember was that Marge (at some point) found one of those Metal Boxes located in a dark alley. Since there were other survivors around, Marge then rushed to get inside this Metal Box, so she could scavenge some supplies. Problem was, there were two other survivors near her. Apparently these survivors were friendly though, so instead of fighting to the death, instead Marge merely had to share her supplies with these other survivors. Both of these were children, by the way.

Later on, I was walking with Marge while the sun rose. WE came to an area of Los Angeles which looked like it had been through some sort of revitalization. All the houses and buildings were pastel-colored instead of the usual Wasteland tin and dark greys. Although I could sense that Marge was living in a dangerous world, I also knew that in this area, she was safe.

Marge walked into a sort of café, with unbroken glass windows. The place looked almost like something you'd see pre-war. Well kept. Marge sat down to have something to eat. In this café (or whatever) they were keeping the usual pre-war custom of serving glasses of water before bringing out the menu.

In real-life, I don't drink tap water. I only drink bottled water. I used to drink tap water up until my mid-20s, but I also grew up constantly getting sick. Colds, flus, sore throats, that sort of thing. I was dating somebody in my mid-20s who was a healthfood nut, and he only drank bottled water. I fell into the habit. I noticed bottled water certainly tastes better than tap water, and after drinking it for (I dunno) maybe a month or so, I realized I had not gotten sick that month. So I stopped drinking tap water.

Anyways, back to the dream. Marge was served some water, and instantly drank some. It was 'understood' that this water was Purified Water, just like we'd see in FO3, and therefore it would not have any + Rads. As Marge drank the water, the view moved from Third person to First person.

I had become Marge N. Overra. I could taste the water she was drinking, in other words. To me, it tasted more like tap water than bottled water, but I was okay with this. At least there weren't any + Rads involved.
