Yeah, what these two gentlemen said!
Huh.
So THAT'S the reason why I haven't seen her online recently.

Got another email from mALX. QUOTE In the last (at least three) weeks I've had a series of progressively worsening mini-strokes (that I ignored the symptoms of like a total idiot) - the last one was more of a really scary wake-up call, left nerve damage in my left arm and weakness in my left leg. I went to the hospital, and it is a good thing I did. Anyway, it doesn't look good odds-wise. I'll try to let people know how I am doing or have my son let you know.

We should all welcome her back with an explosive greeting.
I don't think that will be a problem.

I don't think that will be a problem. No, we'll just have Grits send Jerric over to mALX's computer for a really BIG Jerric-style post-bean eruption!

QUOTE(stargelman @ Oct 1 2013, 01:30 PM) I'll keep my bad news to myself, there's enough floating around.
Sorry to hear that. Related to the last bit? QUOTE(Acadian @ Oct 2 2013, 07:04 AM) Our dear and resilient mALX is back from the hospital and doing better after the coronary events that placed her there. She has a rather long list of preventive admonishments from the doctor and her condition is rather guarded right now.
I expect she'll provide more of an update here herself when she feels up to it.
Thanks for letting us know. Glad to hear she's back from the hospital, though the second sentence is concerning. Gah.

mALX' condition sounds like TIA's; or trans-ischemic attacks. Commonly referred to as mini-strokes.
An infarction can occur in any part of the body. In the brain, it's called a stroke, in the heart, a heart attack (also called MI or myocardial infarction among the medical community), anywhere else, simply an infarction.
TIA's more often than not, are symptoms of an impending stroke, usually little bits of the embolus or clot being released prior to the main one dislodging. This is not good in any sense, and the....ultimate price,...can be a mercy in comparison to the other side effects.
Hence the extremely high list of precautions. More then likely, she will be on blood thinners and a host of other meds to keep the blood pressure from going too low, or too high.
She will need to avoid stressful situations and exertion, with effort, luck and prayers she can recover once the clot has been dealt with.
You are in my prayers, mALX.
