QUOTE(Darkness Eternal @ Sep 28 2013, 11:52 PM) QUOTE(King Of Beasts @ Sep 29 2013, 12:47 AM) Dishonored I'm loving it. Eh . . . not a fan. I gave it a try but couldn't get into it.

QUOTE(mirocu @ Sep 29 2013, 07:05 AM) No one here who´ve played Dungeon Keeper? Not me. I confess Buffy's popped back into Baldur's Gate II a couple times the past few years. And several years ago, under the careful coaching of Leydenne, I gave Dragon Age (Origins) a solid try for over a month (didn't like it). Other than that, it's been all about Oblivion and only about Oblivion here.

QUOTE(mirocu @ Sep 29 2013, 10:05 AM) No one here who´ve played Dungeon Keeper? The one by Bullfrog? I have DK- Gold somewhere around here, and it is still on the gaming PC. I loved the voice-overs... that lovely baritone sneer about "cute little bunnies" and etc.

QUOTE(mirocu @ Sep 29 2013, 11:07 AM) What´s your opinion about it then, treydog? Is it a fun game and such? I found it a fun diversion. It is NOT a "role-playing game"- but more of a "world-builder". It can be a bit repetitive, but that is true of most of these sorts of games. And there are some dungeons/scenarios that are set up to be VERY difficult- I recall one where the only way I completed it was to automate EVERYTHING... which is kinda the opposite of "playing." (But then I am impatient... there was probably a way to actually LEARN how to beat that one- if I had taken the time). Check the Wiki entry and maybe look at some Youtube examples of gameplay to decide if it is your cuppa hackle lo... If you can get it for cheap- it is fun, humorous, sometimes frenzied (as you try to protect your dungeon). Of course- slapping chickens is always fun...

I love how the ending takes into account so many things that you did over the course of the game. Some things that seemed like small and unimportant side quests have a larger effect on the ending than I would have imagined. Out of curiosity, what did you dislike about it specifically?

Dragon Age: Origins never really clicked for me either. I think it was because it was so like Bioware's previous games: the Neverwinter Nights and Kotor games. I never had to look at manual, because the way everything worked was exactly the same, just with different graphics. It made me wonder why I should bother playing it, when I could just play NWN instead?
I have also been spoiled by the open worlds of Elder Scrolls games. As soon as I get into a Bioware game, I immediately want to head out into the trees and see what is over there? But of course you cannot do that, as the game forces you down narrow, predetermined paths. Then there is the issue of clutter. In Bioware games it is all static objects built into the background. In ES games it is things you can move around an interact with. I remember trying to decorate my cabin in Mass Effect one, and being so bummed out that I could not move, add, or remove a single thing.

Interesting.
Subrosa: I actually loved Kotor and didn't mind the similarity. I did notice that everything was very similar though, it just didn't bug me.
Acadian: This perfectly illustrates the differences in preference that people can have. I actually liked the surprise cutscenes and felt that they kept things more real because sometimes you are going to be forced to think on the fly. I also liked the class limitations, it takes me back to the days when you couldn't just create a character and become a master of everything with the same character. The camera took some getting used to though I will admit and the game has it's flaws. Best part for me was that the Origins effected who you were for the reat of the game. For instance a dwarf noble will most likely hate his traitorous brother while other races might be indifferent or even skeptical about whether or not he is such a bad guy.
