Don't judge. It is an excellent movie. I am a huge Michael Caine fan.
Michael Caine is playing for the Detroit Lions now? I guess an 80 year old actor cannot do any worse than anyone else on that team... Ummm...no. Lmao. QUOTE(Elisabeth Hollow @ Oct 8 2013, 01:55 AM) QUOTE(Kiln @ Oct 7 2013, 07:56 PM) Secondhand Lions.

That movie made me cry some not-so-manly tears, lol XD I'm sure your husband was relieved.
Still doesn't beat the tv version of Snakes on a Plane. "I have had it with these monkey fightin' snakes on this Monday to Friday plane!"
That's nothing. The TV version of the Godfather has a scene where a guy is told to "go sculpt yourself, jerk!"
"Yippie Kiyay Mr.Falcon"-TV Version of Die Hard

QUOTE(SubRosa @ Oct 8 2013, 12:09 AM) QUOTE(McBadgere @ Oct 6 2013, 11:43 PM) The beautiful Mary Elizabeth Winstead ...Was the only highlight of a very silly film...The only decent thing they did with it is keep it to 90 mins... ... I liked her a lot in the redo of The Thing. I did not realize/remember that she had been in that Die Hard movie. I think I watched it on instant viewing a few years ago, and as you said, it thinks it is great but it is not... In other news, since McB has been pressuring me for months now, I finally relented and started watching Magnum PI. The first season is, wow, this is Magnum PI? Especially the first two-parter episode, which was obviously the pilot. Thank goodness they changed a lot of things from that one! The theme is what really gets me though. Its this bass guitar thing that makes me think of a Pr0N. It hasn't turned into this one that we all know and love yet. *Does the Han Solo "Who me?" pointing to self thing*... ... ...Proper excellent series is Magnum...It's funny how many times the theme changes arrangement even once it gets to - mostly - that version...But yeah, sooooo glad they changed the theme...Has it got to the part of the season where what becomes the opening theme is used at the end?... I'm surprised at how many Hawaii Five-O references are in there...McGarrett gets mentioned loads...

But the opening music is still the porn bass. It is the dog-napping episode, #8. I did catch a McGarrett refrence too. A few episodes ago Magnum pretended to be Detective McGarrett over the radio.

Ah, that's one that we let pass by... ...There was some programme clashing at the start of the run, but now it's Magnum each and every night of the working week... ... The kids love it... ... Yes they do...In fact, the daughter joked recently that the only reason she didn't answer the question she'd had in her Media Studies class at school, "What's your most hated program ever?" with Magnum was that she'd somehow blanked it out of her mind...Awwww, she don't half josh sometimes that one!!... Aaamywho, confusingly enough, the'd missed the opening two episodes of season 3 off the run, we figured that there was simply too much iffy content in it to be shown at the morning or afternoon slots that it's on...So they just ploughed on with the rest of the series... Aaaamywho, as a shocker, they must have edited as much as they could out of said episodes and showed them over the last couple of days...Completely out of sequence for reasons that you may get to see, and yes, heavily edited...But probably the best episodes to date... Love that program...So glad they're rerunning them now I'm old enough to appreciate how good they actually were... The red-head second pilot wench from Airwolf is in it now and again...*Sighs*...I love her...Red-heads are my kryptonite, I tell ya!... ...

QUOTE(Rohirrim @ Oct 10 2013, 01:58 PM) Maybe in like a rich, English, preppy kinda way? Does he have blue eyes and brown hair? If so, then I suppose. No, no, not the appearance, the name. More than one female character in the play declares that the name 'Ernest' is the sexiest thing a man can possess; I just want to know if this is true.

QUOTE(Colonel Mustard @ Oct 10 2013, 08:56 AM) Saw the 2003 make of The Importance of Being Earnest. Ladies of Chorrol, I really have to ask; is Earnest that sexy a name? No, the draw was Colin Firth. The ladies already knew Ernest was the sole heir, but didn't know who Ernest was. BWAAHAA! Wait, will you then become Colonel Ernest Mustard? I guess having a god-like physique and overwhelming good looks isn't enough? Lol. I am watching it on dvd. The only time I watch tv shows is when they come out on dvd now. You don't have to wait for them to come on, and you can watch a whole bunch of episodes in a row. Plus it is kind of neat when they list things like the original air date. Btw, I got to the episode where the opening theme changes from the porn star to guitar. It was Episode 12 - Thicker Than Blood. It was the one where TC smuggles a junkie deserter into Hawaii, because he was old war buddy who saved his life in 'Nam. TC gets caught, is going to jail, etc... It was a good episode. I have to say, Magnum is doing a good job of cheering me up.

Oh there's so many damned channels on this satellite system it's ridiculous...And they have to fill them with something...So we've had the complete Batman (the 60s one)...I didn't watch that...Erm...I saw The Fall Guy there... Kojack they're doing through, it seems...Cheers is another... I've waited years for one of the channels to repeat Magnum, I was hoping for one episode a week, but I'm not going to complain about the every night thing...Well, not much...Yes it's a pain in the arse watching it every night...But it's on, and that's what we have to do...So...*Drops head to chest in defeat*... Magnum has at least one belly-laugh in it each episode for me...Even the really serious ones seem to pull out one...Usually involving Higgy-baby...But yeah, I know what you mean about the cheering up...Absolutely... Ooooh, we watched a pile of Doctor Who programmes that were originally made for BBC America...Guides to the first two Doctors...(They're doing two Doctors a weekend)...A beginners guide to Doctor Who...A history of the Companions etc...It's been cool...Yes, McWife went a bit...Spare, shall we say...And even the daughter was a bit "Aaaargh" by the time we'd finished...But hey, it's been so long since I watched any Who it was pure joy for me... Karen Gillan was on it a lot...And Freema Agyeman... ...I seemed to have forgotten quite how bloody fit she was...*Sighs*... ... But...Another one who was on it...Was Barrowman...And no, I didn't see the fitness there meself...BUT!!...Not Butt, but but...AARGH!...Um...Yeah, it was actually nice to see him too...And I kinda wavered on my Jack rage there...So I may do the Russell era Docky Who again...This time with more enthusiasm... I seem to be the only one who's (!) looking forward to Peter Capaldi's Doctor though...*Shrug*...Hey-ho...I'm sure he's worried... ... EDIT!!!!...I forgot to say that I loved that TC-centric episode...There are so many excellent episodes so far, it's no wonder it was the top-rated show over there for a couple of seasons... I love the Rick/Higgy-Baby/TC-centric ones, it gives the series a different slant now and again... There's one coming up where Higgins gets taken for a ride a bit, and you really get to see how much Magnum does actually care for him... Bloody good series... All star cast (you'll probably recognize all of them if you watch lots of comedies) with lots of cameos? Check. Actors playing themselves in a movie about the apocalypse? Check. Over an hour and a half of immature but mostly entertaining comedy? Double check.

I laughed a whole lot. And got to see Michael Cera die, and Jonah Hill lol. But Emma Watson?! Last night, hubster and I watched The Purge. In short, one a year in America, all crimes are legal for twelve hours, including murder, rape, theft, arson, etc in order to "cleanse the soul of hatred." It's considered an American duty to join or support the purge. This post has been edited by Elisabeth Hollow: Oct 16 2013, 09:15 PM
