QUOTE(Elisabeth Hollow @ Nov 13 2013, 09:25 PM) Hubby and I are watching Firefly again One of the greatest shows ever made. And easily the most deserving of a second series. Damn whoever cancelled it.

QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Nov 11 2013, 11:33 PM) Just watched Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
Alan Rickman makes such a great villain. I only have one issue with this film:
Every time I see it, I get Will Scarlet's "There was a rich man from No-o-tingham" song stuck in my head.
On the other hand:
"Locksley! I'll cut your heart out with a spoon!"
"no more merciful beheadings, and call off Christmas. "
Fantastic lines.
I swear to you that my brother and I were discussing this exact thing two days ago. I referenced the Will Scarlet song and my brother brought up the spoon line.

Watched the first episode of Defiance today. So far I like it. It is more than a bit predictable, and the characters not exactly original (could the male lead be more of a rip off of Han Solo?), but I like the world they have created. The city looks neat, with its half-shantytown look of shipping containers turned into houses, slightly fixed up pre-war buildings, and what are obviously brand new high tech alien houses. I especially like the idea of humans and aliens trying to coexist in after a war which neither really won. In sci-fi, it the aliens who invade earth are always 100% annihilated. Or they conquer the planet and enslave what is left of humanity before destroying the planet. There is almost never any inbetween stories. That is what I liked about Harry Turtledove's In The Balance books. The aliens failed to conquer the planet, but the humans also failed to wipe them out or even kick them off. Oh, and love Underworld. Kate Beckinsale. Sigh. This post has been edited by SubRosa: Nov 15 2013, 10:06 PM

I believe Cyrodiil is a perfect place for werewolves. You know, villagers with farms and sheep and innocent maidens in distress type thing. The forested area in Cyrodiil is better than Falkreath. On topic, though, Underworld was alright, Underworld II was decent, Rise of the Lycans was fairly good. Rona Mitra tops Kate.

I thought Underworld was better than than Evolution, didn't watch any after that. Just finished watching The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Not impressed. It was a good film, but they really screwed up the ending to it. The whole bit with the boat doesn't make a lick of sense.

Certainly better than Jurassic Park III. I am anticipating what they're going to do with this new Jurassic World movie I've been hearing about. Currently watching Game of Thrones . . . the Red Wedding again. The feels. So wrong, but so good and well-done.

Still watching Magnum PI, and it has given me an idea for a tv show.
It would be a private investigator show. Yes, done a thousands times already. But with a twist, PI to the stars. The protagonist would be a detective who works for famous people. To make it work, the guest stars in each episode would be real stars, playing themselves. A-list actors like Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt would probably be to much. But I am thinking B-List types for certain. Like David Tennant, John Cusak, John Goodman, Dan Ackroyd, Tobey McGuire, Willem Dafoe, James Franco, Sean Bean, and so on.
Of course the stories around them would all be completely fictitious. So real people, but made up stories. For example, Sean Bean would have to die at the end of his episode, because he always does. It could be all the usual fare: Kidnappings, blackmail, murder, and so on. So one episode our intrepid hero/ine might be rescuing Tobey McGuire's kidnapped poodle, and the next they might be recovering James Franco's stolen collectable autographed picture of Rock Hudson, and so on.
I got the idea from the way that sometimes when a show really takes off, well-known actors start to want to appear in it just for the fun of it. Star Trek Next Generation was like that back in the day. People like Kelsey Grammer, Matt Frewer, Mick Fleetwood, Terri Hatcher, Stephen Hawking, Ashley Judd, and so on appeared on that show. It was the cool thing do to in Hollywood. So why not make a show about that phenomena?
But of course it would be hideously expensive, and scheduling the guest stars would probably be a nightmare. So it would be impossible to actually do. But it is fun to imagine.
