QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Nov 26 2013, 10:31 AM) To quote Captain Sheridan, from Babylon 5: "If the primates that we came from had known that someday politicians would come out of the gene pool, they'd have stayed up in the trees and written evolution off as a bad idea!"
Amen, brother. Amen I mean, of course I look for jobs but Iīm not gonna torture myself when I know what the politicians are doing. Iīm so glad I donīt have any kids who have to grow up in this insane asylum. Pst. Donīt tell Liz I said that This post has been edited by mirocu: Nov 26 2013, 10:35 AM

Isn't it ironic that supposedly democratic societies can't do anything to stop politicians acting against the people. Oh, but we donīt live in a democracy, everyone just think we do. If we did have a true democracy this wouldnīt happen. Actually we do live in a democracy. Unfortunately democracy is just another means of controlling the masses, fooling them into thinking they have an actual say in things. In reality those in power give the people a few options to choose from, but functionally it's like having a monarch with identical triplets, and being asked to choose which one you want to take the throne. QUOTE(mirocu @ Nov 26 2013, 09:46 AM) Not unless people wake up and start seeing beyond all the lies. But people love the lies and its layers are thick I don't think most people see the lies, not really. They're just a blur in the background of social networking and which celebrities doing what and what's happening in crappy reality tv shows or soap operas. And many powerful and wealthy people have invested a great deal of money in ensuring that. QUOTE(mirocu @ Nov 26 2013, 09:46 AM) QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Nov 26 2013, 10:41 AM) Spoilsport. Thatīs what I mean with not a true democracy. In a true democracy common people do have a say so and the politicians only do what the people want, thatīs what the word democracy means. What we have is an illusion of a democracy, just like you described. QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Nov 26 2013, 10:59 AM) Plus, she lives in Texas. She might shoot you And I live in Sweden. I think Finland has a system like that, where everyone gets to vote on everything. But the biggest obstacle to true democracy, in my opinion, is that so many people just don't care, or at least don't care enough. They just accept things as they are and go back to their distractions. They just want someone else to take care of it, and don't really care how. So true, unfortunately. They just care about their sports teams, TV shows, or games, or.... Oops

Only thing I seem to watch these days on TV is the occasional film, Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., or re-runs of Top Gear. Heh, funny you mentioning games. I'm currently a little pissed off that my 360 just froze up playing Oblivion. Just got my mage out of the sewer, went to the Imperial City, and froze on the loading screen. I'll have to fire it up again later. Edit: That said, I think people not caring applies to 95% of problems in the world. This post has been edited by Callidus Thorn: Nov 26 2013, 11:22 AM

I just watch the odd episode of Simpsons, Family Guy and Top Gear Britain. Not much else and I donīt follow any series, havenīt done that in years. Lies. Misrepresentation. Spin Doctoring.
For example, America has always been a Republic, not a Democracy. Oh, sure they use the word Democracy but it is not one.
Case in point: Eight years of Dubya Bush. At first everyone was freaking out because Gore had lost. So what they did is went back and tallied up all the votes.
Now, here's where we learn the difference between Democracy and a Republic.
Democracy is direct voting. That is your vote counts.
A Republic is a representative voting system, your vote doesn't count for crap. It's your Representative's that does.
So, Gore won the popular vote by 500,000 votes....but lost the Electoral College, which is a representative body in each state. Not only that, it has *always* been that way. The American people have *never* been the ones to elect their leader, not since Ben Franklin waddled out of the Congress and said: "A Republic, if you can keep it."
It's right there in Black and White on the Constitution, but we're raised with this notion that our vote counts. It does not. It never did. Welcome to the 'Free World'.
