QUOTE(mirocu @ Jan 6 2014, 09:35 PM) One question: Why is ass another name for donkey? I´m not trying to break any rules or be funny, but is that really another word for that animal? I think calling someone an ass as an insult actually came about after the word ass was used to describe the pack animal; there is, after all, the very antiquated insult of saying that someone who is stubborn or difficult is 'asinine' and calling someone an ass was generally meant to describe them being kind of a jerk because, let's face it, as a species donkeys are kind of a bunch of jerks. If I had to take a guess as to where it came to also mean posterior, I would probably say that it was a linguistic mutation of the British 'arse' which came from a source I'm too tired to guess at the etymology of.

I got bored and typed th question into google, ended up on the wikipedia page for donkey.
Apparently the name donkey actually came later, the 18th century, and they were called ass before that, and their scientific name is Equus africanus asinus, so maybe it's the Roman's fault they were called asses.
Then again, this is wikipedia, so who knows if any of that's remotely accurate

QUOTE(mirocu @ Jan 7 2014, 09:00 AM) QUOTE(King Of Beasts @ Jan 6 2014, 10:59 PM) It's better than bored boredom Bored boredom... Wouldn´t that cancel itself out being two negatives? I guess that does work... Or does it just mean you become bored of being bored, therefore making yourself more bored?
