You can't necessarily force your opinion onto someone. Opinions are opinions. Just let it go if you can

A guy started a thread about a different type of "pure mage". Rather than relying on fireballs or summoned critters, this one fights with bound weapons and armour. He thinks that because the weapons and armour and spells rather than actual weapons, this sitll fits the criteria of "pure mage".

I am arguing that the character is at best a hybrid, whose focus is melee combat, not magic, and therefore doesn't even vaguely resemble a "pure mage".

That's pretty much what it boils down to.


This is why I hate arguments on the internet. I do seem to find my way into quite a few of them though...

I'm monstrously stubborn at times.

And opinons can often be changed by a well reasoned argument.

That's more along the lines of a Battlemage. Bound armor and destruction spells. Yeah, you're using all magick, but you're also raising a skillset not normally in a skillset for a mage.
