Haven´t played them but I´d imagine they´re pretty good

The older games were very good. I liked that you were a thief and couldn't stand against soldiers/guards so you had to play smart. I'm waiting to rent it first but the new one definitely looks great.

When I heard they were making one I was excited. Then I found out what tey'd done to the Thief Universe and decided to give it a miss.

Glad you're enjoying it though, least you should get your money's worth.

From the screens I saw, it looks more like it is in 19th Century London, than in a medievalish fantasy setting.

Exactly what I thought. I only played Thief: Deadly Shadows, generally considered the worst of them, but it still had the feel of being something unique, right down to the way NPCs talked.

Now it seems they've torn it all out in favour of genericism.

I'm not even certain that's a word, but you get what I mean.

Mount and Blade:Warband.

Oh look 2 hours just went buy....I'll play for a nother 10 minutes.

Oh look another hour is gone.

Shinobi by Tengen. Easy gameplay but since there´s no recovery time after being hit it´s also very easy to die which is the only reason I can´t go beyond the first boss even though he´s pretty easy.

Excitebike. Fun game and a definite classic

I rented the new Thief game. It is alright but a bit too black and white for my tastes. They make it clear that the game's villian is super evil and all of his men are corrupt degenerates. The cliches are annoying to say the least (bad guy randomly kills his men for failures 1980's bond villian style) but overall the game was a fun way to waste a few hours.

You can still go out and rent games?

Consoles do have benefits. We still have both Redbox kiosks that rent games/movies and a few stores that haven't been shut down yet by online rentals/streaming video.

Civilisation 4: Beyond the Sword

I just beat the new thief game. I loved it. It was really good.

Myself I dedicated this evening to the classic Mario Bros. No, not Super Mario Bros. I´m talking about the arcade game. Actually a pretty fun game and the best part is I never need to patch it, varify it or run it through Steam

Overall it was a good game, the questline was good, and it was always pretty exciting. You actually had to do some thinking to play it.

Thief was better than I expected and movement around the city was great because of the climbing system. I was disappointed by the generic nature at times though. The story seemed good but I didn't get to finish it.

Wrecking Crew, Mario Bros, Urban Champion and Tetris. How retro can one be?

Urban Champion must be the earliest one-on-one fighting game. A bit clunky controls and not too exciting, but it´s aways fun when you manage to get your opponent into the manhole
