Me too!! I liked the final scene with Ayra and the Hound, just as I remembered it from the books!

Me too!! I liked the final scene with Ayra and the Hound, just as I remembered it from the books! I loved it. The Hound has always been my favorite characters. The final scene was just pure gold. Little Arya is basically like a sponge. Any child who's lost their family and siblings to war is bound to have some long-lasting mental issues, especially when all that they have for a protector is a renowned killer. The fact that The Hound and her now have a relationship that's skirting towards father and daughter, I expect her to get worse. All Sandor has done is kill people. Hanging around him, Arya pretty much is turning into a twelve year old murderer. The way she killed the Lannister soldier was great, and how she used Needle to exact her revenge on Polliver. The only thing I.expected was to see Sandor Clegane mortally wounded. But I guess the producers have different plans for him. Who knows? Maybe he ends up getting gangrene. Tough to say. They changed some things from the book.

Grits, I sort of disliked Sansa in the first season. But as the series progressed, I began to truly sympathize with her and understand the situation she's in as her character grew. We also have to consider her age as well. I do see things getting better for her this season. I can't wait to see her in the Vale. Ah, and speaking of character growth, I am glad to see Jaime Lannister back, and with a golden hand! He became one of my favorites in season 3 when we see that he's not all that "bad", per se. His relationship with Brienne has me laughing, and it will be very interesting in the future if you read the books. Vital, Arya and the Hound's relationship seem to be growing stronger. I wonder if she will still have the Hound on her hitlist for killing the butcher's boy. Also, "what the [censored] is a Lommy?" Oberyn is just that character that steals the moment as soon as he's introduced. Can't wait to see him battling The Mountain. Next episode is the episode everyone wants to see. The Purple Wedding! I'm so excited. We know just how great colored weddings are in Game of Thrones.

Because Grits twisted my arm, I have been having a House of Cards marathon. I am nearly finished with the first season, and so far it has been interesting. Most of the characters are pretty unlikeable. We are talking about scummy politicos after all. Still Kevin Spacey is fun. His performance as Francis Underwood hearkens me back to the first time I ever saw him. It was on Wiseguy, where he played Mel Proffit, a bipolar, genius, crimelord. He was brilliant there, and he is brilliant again. Something about playing a power-hungry sociopath brings out the best in Spacey. The other characters are well played, though less fun to watch. Robin Wright plays Mrs. Underwood well. But one thing about her still puzzles me. It is very clear that she is cut from the same cloth as her husband: power-hungry and sociopathic. But she runs an environmentalist group. I am having trouble figuring out why, since she doesn't seem to give a crap about the environment, or anything other than the acquisition of power. If it is just a means to an end, as it appears to be, I would think there would be better ones. Zoe is becoming more likeable as the season goes on. She is getting more experienced and sure of herself. I can see that she is going to become very dangerous to Francis. Edit: I just started on season two. I guess Zoe is not going to be so dangerous after all! Christina is probably the only truly likeable character in the cast. She is also a girlscout, the only one who doesn't have some underhanded agenda, or is using everyone around her. I am also noticing product placement all over the place. There was a big Enterprise car sign in one of the earlier episode. No one can miss all the Apple logos on everyone laptop, phone, or Ipad. There was just a nice closeup of Francis' phone, so "T-Mobile" was crystal clear. Honey Bunches of O's also appears to be the popular breakfast food at Netflix. Francis plays God of War on his PS3. Is there any company that Netflix did not hooer themselves out to raise the money to make this show? This post has been edited by SubRosa: Apr 9 2014, 01:06 AM

Just finished watching Ender's Game on iTunes. I've been wanting to get (and read) the book for so long. It's an old tale I've been hearing a lot of good things about, and sounds just like my kind of Sci Fi. The movie was quite good, and I enjoyed watching the lead character struggle with one dilemma after another. However I feel the viewer was shorted on the psychological implications of his choices. I've a feeling the book is much more in depth. So guess what? I finally got the book! So I'm off to start reading it. On my iPad, of course. In case you're wondering, my favorite author is that other outstanding writer, Robert A. Heinlein. Don't watch Starship Troopers. But read it? Oh hell, Yes!

QUOTE(SubRosa @ Apr 9 2014, 06:22 PM) I finished House of Cards. Wow, Kevin Spacey was just masterful.
I'm a HUGE fan of Kevin Spacey, too. Like you, I first saw him in Wiseguy. He came after Ray Sharkey and I didn't think anyone could top that guy, but I think KS did so masterfully. So anyway, have you seen this one? Inseperable. I won't say too much about it except this: Kevin Spacey in a Batman costume is quite the eyeful.

Last night I watched Night of the Comet. Another blast from the past. "Daddy would have gotten us Uzis..."
This afternoon I watched (or at least listened to), Bill Maher's Religulous. Quite a scathing look at organized religion, and especially its hypocrisy. I would not call it unfair though, as the real scathing comes more from the people he is interviewing than himself. He did his homework pretty well too.
The only thing I kept yelling at the tv about was the whole Virgin Birth business. What a lot of people today forget is that 2,000 years ago the term virgin did not mean someone who had never had sex. It meant either a woman who was young, or a woman who was unmarried. Typically one happened to be the other. So there is was nothing miraculous about a Virgin Mother, or Virgin Birth. It just meant Mary (and the mothers of so many other religious figures like Krishna and Horus), were single moms. It did not mean they never had sex. For example Hekate is a Virgin Goddess. She also has several children. She just never married any of the fathers.
Now on h.e.r.'s advice, I am watching Inseperable. I have not gotten far enough into it to have an opinion yet. Except that it is set in China, and I do not think I have ever seen a modern comedy set there. It is always historical action movies, like Red Cliff, or fantasy action movies like House of Flying Daggers, that I see in China. So that is different.

Started on "Person of Interest" from Netflix (DVD)- liking it very much so far.
PoI is on of my proper favourite series ever...It's just a huge amount of giggle inducing (in a good way) fun...I love it hugely... Coincidentally, we watched our latest episode yesterday...Much fun!...Along with NCIS... McBoy and I also watched The Phantom Menace...I really, really enjoyed that film...It was really nice to see it again...I still can't see why it got the hammering...As I keep saying, if you're a kid, you'll enjoy it... Even McBoy, who's all grown up with a 'tash and everything...(Yes he has a way to go before the full-Selleck, but still )...Um...He said, "I don't understand why people have a go at Jar-Jar..."...The kids love Jar-Jar, it's meant for them... I stand by this film... I love it...It's pretty awesome... We're going to watch the next one, next week...So there... ...

QUOTE(Darkness Eternal @ Apr 15 2014, 09:09 AM) Game of Thrones did it again! Killed off a major character in the second episode.
"Weddings have become more perilous than battles, it would seem." A brilliant episode, loved every moment of it. The wedding was very well done; all the little conflicts throughout the scene really built the tension and then of course The wedding has really set up the rest of the series. I noticed that Illyn Payne hasn't featured in the show since season 1 (actually he may have appeared in 2), so they've had to use other characters to fill his role. Little change, but for some reason I really noticed it this episode when Bronn was with Jaime. This post has been edited by Vital: Apr 15 2014, 01:53 AM
