QUOTE(ImperialSnob @ Apr 14 2014, 10:47 PM) How exactly do you go about your RPing and writing CT?
I've always wanted to do it in a similar fashion.
For me the most important part of roleplaying is the character's backstory. I find it impossible to simply dive into the tutorial with a blank slate, and let things build from there. I need to know who the character is before I begin. I usually spend days planning the character, letting it build in the back of my mind, starting with a single concept or idea and letting anything I see or hear have the potential to add layers to it. I've learned not to force it or rush the process, I made that mistake with my first attempt at fanfic, An Old Altmer's Tale. When it comes to writing, I try to hold a single image in my mind. A starting point for what I want to write about. Typically this will be a moment of gameplay frozen in time. Then I try and put that image into words, adding in all the little things missing from the game, everything relating to the character and the experience. From there the picture changes, and I continue trying to describe it. I've recently taken to keeping notes on what happens when playing, which has proven very useful. Previously I'd have to stop playing to write the most recent occurences while they were still fresh in my mind, but sometimes that could take days. This was a problem I had with Telindil's Tale. The notes let me work at a more relaxed pace, and get more gameplay in, which further reinforces the connection to the character. I really wish I could describe it all better, but I don't fully understand a lot of how I go about it myself. And to be honest, I'm still working on improving both my RPing and my writing.

I see, I don't know if I could do the writing bit but the RP bit yeah. You're best bet's to ask some of the better writers and roleplayers here. I'm just an amateur learning from my mistakes. And read the fan-fics here. So far I've read: Buffy the Bowgirl, Old Habits Die Hard, Teresa of the Faint Smile, Jerric's Story. All are fantastically written, and all of them have made me think about how I write and roleplay. Read, ask questions, find what works for you and stick to it. QUOTE(Black Hand @ Apr 15 2014, 12:00 AM) Thorn...I will chase you from the shadows to the pyre...I will torment your dreams...I will make you question your very insanity...until you play Deus Ex....
Well, at least you're not going over the top about it. By all means, torment my dreams. I've not had one that I've remembered in nearly a decade, I would welcome the change. And you're too late Blackie, I question my insanity on a daily basis. QUOTE(Black Hand @ Apr 15 2014, 12:00 AM) In fact, I declare that you have no claim to the title of a 'Gamer' until you have played it.
A title I have never made claim to. I'll survive. QUOTE(Black Hand @ Apr 15 2014, 12:00 AM) Yes, my opinion does trump reality and objective fact.
Reality is a remarkably mutable concept. Centuries ago reality was that the sun revolved around the Earth, the fastest mode of travel over land was by horse, and the sky was the domain of birds alone. Objective fact follows a similar pattern... QUOTE(Black Hand @ Apr 15 2014, 12:00 AM) Yes, it does matter what I think and say.
To you, certainly. QUOTE(Black Hand @ Apr 15 2014, 12:00 AM) Yes, I am predicting your every reply.
And setting me up for new ones. Does that not somewhat undermine your predictions? QUOTE(Black Hand @ Apr 15 2014, 12:00 AM) Yes, I will do to you what you exclaim of various Norse Dieties if the ides of May have passed, and you still have not played it.
Just as well that "Loki's Twisted Scrotum" is a metaphorical reference to Loki's offspring QUOTE(Black Hand @ Apr 15 2014, 12:00 AM) Yes, I am just unstable enough to do it.
But am I stable enough to take any notice of it? But on a serious note. It's on my to-do list. I might even fire it up tomorrow. Depends how I feel. *shrug* This post has been edited by Callidus Thorn: Apr 15 2014, 12:17 AM

Was going to save this one for tomorrow- but where's the randomness in that? Two strings go into a bar. The bartender says, "We don't serve strings in here!" and tosses them out. The first string tells his buddy, "I'll get us a drink. Watch this." He then loops and twists himself and musses up his hair. When he gets to the bar, the bartender says, "Hey- aren't you one of those strings I just tossed out?" "Nope. I'm a frayed knot." QUOTE(King Of Beasts @ Apr 13 2014, 11:21 PM) I want to strange Trey for making multiple puns in one post Too late. I have been stranged and weirded, not to mention folded, spindled, and mutilated for YEARS now.

We need Thorny-boy too!! Well, you'll be pleased to know that I have now installed Deus Ex. I've only gotten as far as the second segment of the tutorial. Everything seemed a little darker after that room where they tell you to use the torch. With the amount of light shining in right now I saw more of my reflection than the game I'll fire it up this evening, shouldn't have any trouble then. And the best bit about the game so far? That I can play it at my laptop screens resolution (1366*768) QUOTE(Vital @ Apr 15 2014, 08:24 AM) mornin' / evenin' Mornin', Captain Timezone

Otherwise you´ll never get that good feeling only true immersion can give you Again, only play at night, dude. It has to be dark outside since the gameplay has nighttime all the way through I´m glad you´re playing the tutorial on your first go, I didn´t do that until my second playthrough onwards This post has been edited by mirocu: Apr 15 2014, 08:55 AM
