QUOTE(Thomas Kaira @ Apr 22 2014, 03:51 PM) AngryJoe review. Based on beta experiences I have to agree with him on a lot of points. The PvE is suffering from a very bad case of indecision, trying to be both a single-player and a multiplayer experience, leading to some pretty horrible issues. The biggest is with how the megaserver handles phasing, splitting groups and blocking players from helping their friends (which is a deadly sin of MMOcraft ). The economy is also not good, mainly due to duping glitches, lack of ability to trade outside of guild stores, non-instanced gathering nodes, boss farming, and horrible drop rates. That's two strikes, as both of those are huge issues. Then there's the fact that even at launch the game looks unfinished and is full of bugs, much more than the single-player titles. Oh, and they decided to go with Themepark style, which flies in the face of TES completely. Sorry, Bethesda, your MMO strikes out! As for the PvP, I'll stick with Guild Wars 2's World vs. World. Exactly the same as ESO's Cyrodiil, but faster paced and, best of all, no monthly subscription. "I got my two **** gold!"*facepalm* I love the group of players all using the hammering emote to try to 'fix' the quest. oi! This post has been edited by SubRosa: Apr 23 2014, 12:39 AM

QUOTE(King Coin @ Apr 22 2014, 05:01 PM) I have found that if your group has been instanced that using the 'travel to player' option places you in the same instance. So it isn't automatic (which is definitely annoying) you can still definitely play with your group.
I agree with the other points to some extent, some more than others. I have played the majority of the quests on my own. The only time I really group up is when I go into PVP now.
Instancing is not the same as phasing. Instancing can be bypassed like you described. Phasing is where the game hides certain things from view based on your current progression in a quest. For the example in the video, once the boss was killed he was phased off, making him invisible and untargetable, along with his friend, but no one changed maps (there would have been a loading screen if that happened). Because of this it was impossible for him to help his friend because they were on the same instance but NOT the same quest phase, and you can't move between phases in the game. *Brandishes ten-foot bargepole...*... *Doesn't touch ESO with it*... Yeah, we've watched a few gameplay videos now... Beautiful, certainly...And these screenshots are awesome...But overall, it just looks like a very polished and newer version of Kingdoms of Amalur...And having sunk a damn lot of hours into that, I'm not in a rush to do it again... The worse thing about playing online with other people is...Other people...I'd be walking everywhere, exploring slowly...Why the hell does everyone insist on sprinting around and jumping everywhere? ...Always with the jumping!!!... Yeeesh... No, as I mentioned earlier, I chose the NFL over the ESO...I think I chose right...Personally speaking though... ... ...

This, very much so. Although Lady Saga has moments where she tends to sprint a lot, most of mine either walk or ride horses, and are in no hurry to get anywhere. Most players (from what I've read) prefer to run at full speed. I could see gaming with other people if they were friends I knew well, and took the game semi-seriously. I wouldn't be able to take all the cussing and cursing, running around, not really getting immersed. I mean, I cuss & curse sometimes, but it's if I'm in awe of something, or if I just got surprised-attacked by a troll. I am wondering if Angry Joe's laid-back gaming style is a result of the fact that he's not impressed with the game? .. Perhaps so. I noticed towards the end when the PvP part kicks in, he was suddenly very excited, and it showed in his commentary.

QUOTE(King Coin @ Apr 23 2014, 08:55 AM) There are fewer people online in the mornings if that encourages you at all.
It does! And I get up at oh-dark-thirty, Eastern time. Did I mention I preordered the PS4 version? Yeah, the guy grabbing all of the money got mine, too. I think I’m supposed to get the Explorers Bonus whatnot, but I didn’t pay extra so I’ll believe it when I see it. I have to say the part where the guys were using the hammer animation (what’s the MMO word for that?) to “fix” the quest had me rolling. A ray of humor from one stranger washes away the bad taste from… a yet undetermined number of sprint-jumpers. (Probably not far from one.) Oh! And I liked the big Angry Army charge thing. However it strikes me that I would have to show up at the correct time to participate in such an event, and that seems unlikely. Also I’ll be the poor sap without a horse.

Emote. Just keep in mind, as AJ said you get 30 days free but you still need to put in a payment method before you are allowed to play.

QUOTE(Thomas Kaira @ Apr 23 2014, 07:16 PM) He was also sorta roleplaying then, as the commander of the Angry Army.
Yes, exactly. All a sudden he's really into the spirit of the moment, that's why I liked the PvP part. During the PvE portions, Joe is not into the game at all. It's funny to watch, but also not funny in a way. This post has been edited by Renee Gade IV: Apr 24 2014, 12:23 AM

QUOTE(Thomas Kaira @ Apr 24 2014, 03:20 AM) I'm keeping an eye on things, and by the word the bugs are getting fixed at a decent rate. I'll be taking another look at this game in detail once the console version hits the shelves. If I like it then I'll consider buying. Just don't ANYONE bother me during the quests. The worst thing about being me is...I am so itching to buy and play it...Just for the chance to do all that wandering/collecting etc...But there are so many reasons against it for me...AAAArgh!!... ... *Sigh*... ...Damned liking the Elder Scrolls thing... But the reviews!!...The myriad things wrong with it!!...Stuff!!!... *Sigh*... Yeah, wishy-washy...that's me... ...

You're not the only one with that problem McB!!! I am desperately torn on whether or not to get his game. Regardless of the average reviews, ridiculous cost and presence of countless other players named "xXSuperHDSniperPro720Xx" (ok, maybe a slight exaggeration...) jumping around and power leveling, I have this overwhelming urge to buy the game. Killing all the non-rp, power levelling and generally annoying people in PvP is very appealing to me Luckily the lack of a game-worthy computer or new gen console is preventing me from getting the game so it's not too much of an issue This post has been edited by Vital: Apr 24 2014, 01:10 PM
