Hey, shall I talk about &^%$-ing brother's recent purchase of a £400+ ($750-ish) vinyl turntable thingy...Or, as we oldsters like to call it, a record player... ...It plays 78rpm records... ...
Anyone got any of them lying about while we're at it?... ...

Maybe I could get it out and crank up the original Bard's Tale on 5.25 floppy discs....
You could, but perhaps it's better not to. Sometimes a good memory beats a bad waking-up-to-the-fact-that-this-stuff-doesn't-age-well-moment...
True- I recall having to go do something else while the hordes of opponents went through their attack routines. If I recall correctly (and it has been... 30 years?) there could be 6-8 groups of enemies- cannot recall how large the groups could be. But in any event, large enough to allow me to wander off for 10-15 minutes at a time.
And it was also necessary to draw all the dungeons and towns on graph paper- there was no such thing as an "in-game" map.

The dreams down here aren't broken, nah, they're walkin' with a limp...
Did any of the post-thirtysomething crew here play Elite or Frontier: Elite II back in the day?...&^%$-ing Brother and I were having a nostalgia trip for that, as there's a new one on the way...All huge and scary and ripe for exploits... ...
What do you mean: did we play Elite? I still have the floppy and the machine to play it on. If they didn't have the wrong voltage over here in the States, I'd plug it in and play a game.

Mods for The Elder Scrolls single-player games, and I play ESO.
There was a messed up sequel to that one too...But now there's something new coming from that same team...Still huge, still trading etc...Looking forward to not being able to play it but watch it from afar... ...
