All mine have had very distinctive personalities, some moreso than others though = Possom was one of these.

He was the best of the best.

Eight years before he actually died I had to race him to the emergency vet hospital because he was almost dead, we didn't know why or what happened to him. The staff at the hospital zeroed out his bill and just worked to save him without charging me, they fell in love with him.

When they finally decided that they couldn't save him, they offered to put him to sleep or I could bring him back home to die, I chose to bring him back home. Well, he lived another eight years from that animal ER visit; so I was really glad I made that choice.

They actually said they wouldn´t charge you? That speaks volumes in this capitalized world!


But what was wrong with him? If they couldn´t do anything to save him but yet he still recovered..?

They were sure he wouldn't survive it. His blood had no red blood cells, (feline luekemia).

They ran all kinds of tests on him, gave him an IV and antibiotics. When they saw the blood, they tested it twice to be sure they hadn't made a mistake - that is when they zeroed out my bill and and told me I wouldn't be charged for anything from that point on; and they offered to euthanize him without charge.

They ran some really expensive tests, too; both before and after that, I was never charged a thing for any of it. They even sent me home with bags of meds to give him for the next day or so till he died on his own - but he didn't die.

The meds they gave us seemed to save him, so I kept coming back to them and picking up more of those drugs till he pulled through it. They gave me the drugs no charge too, they were cheering him on - hoping he'd make it and beat the odds against him.

To me that spoke volumes about those veterinarians that they cared more about the animals than the dollars, you know? They had my respect and loyalty forever for that.

Those veterinarians sound like nothing I´ve heard of. Doing what they can, giving him meds despite the very low odds of survival, and not charging a single dime? Employees of the year, step forward!

Well, maybe not from the business point of view but who cares...

Humanity is what it is, not employees. They cared about the animals more than the money they could have been making.

I've found it in three veterinarians, but never a human doctor - what does that say? Lol.

Was he a Coonie? he certainly looked like one...resembles my Indra a tad...

Hey, how's everyone doing?

We think he may have had some Coon in him, but since he was born in the wild we never really knew. His mother was gorgeous and long haired just like his hair, but she was white with brownish markings. We never knew who his father was.

He was very large, though (for a cat).
