QUOTE(stargelman @ Oct 1 2014, 06:20 AM) QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Sep 28 2014, 06:02 PM) She's actually introduced in the game as the world's deadliest 13 year old. She's completely insane, and is a demolitions expert. She also gets her own DLC, where she's the Dungeonmaster for a game of Bunkers and Badasses If she wasn't so funny, she'd be creepy as Hel. But could she take on River Tam? I dunno, River kills people with math and geometry...plus guns. Still though, she's a quirky but overtly (near the end of the series) hardcore character.

Playing Rune Factory 4. This game is in fact a 3DS-based portable black hole, or a time machine or something. Hours just get sucked into it, without the player really realising. Damn good game.

QUOTE(treydog @ Jan 4 2015, 02:15 AM) So I got myself Borderlands, the Pre-Sequel for Christmas. And then I looked over at the original Borderlands GOTY edition, which has been on the "gaming table" for some time. (As in... 5 or 6 months).
And I thought, "Well I should probably see how further I got with that..."
And quickly realized the answer was... I had never even loaded it up. (Head slap).
So I finished the main quest yesterday and started the first DLC- The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned" who is totally NOT based on Dr. Zed.
It is really fun to see the continuity (and the improvements) from the original game through the second. Most obvious example is that the 4 playable characters in BL (Roland, Lilith, Brick, and Mordecai) become NPCs in BL2.
Jacki- I also plan on looking at the Tales content. Please keep us posted on how that plays.
I enjoy Borderlands quite a bit. The varied weapons are pretty entertaining and keep the games interesting. I'm thinking of getting Xcom Enemy Within but haven't played it before. Anybody know if it's worth playing?

Xcom: Enemy Within is a fantastic game if you're a fan of turn based strategy. I've got it, but I've not gotten close to finishing it, partly because I bumped up the difficulty, and partly because all my other games kept getting in the way The gameplay's damn good, the enemy AI is good enough to really be able to punish you for making mistakes, and the game does a fantastic job both of providing the right atmosphere for the game and at getting you attached to your soldiers. Losing a soldier you've taken from a rookie to a Colonel is a genuinely painful experience. You even get a bunch of options that allow you to tweak the gameplay, which can really change the way it plays. It's an awesome game, on so many levels.

I've been playing more Alien: Isolation. I'm about half-way done.
You know how people say that the most crushing loneliness is when you're lonely but surrounded by people? That's this game. There are people, but everything on the space station has everyone in little hostile clusters, so even if I hear them screaming for help I can't do anything.
There are creepy synthetics called Working Joes. They are horrible. They've malfunctioned and so they attack on sight while saying things like "You're becoming hysterical" or "Let me help" in their creepy monotone voice.
And then of course we have the alien herself. I think its just one, though I've seen people with chest-burster wounds, so who knows. If you run, she hears you. If you shoot at someone, she hears it immediately and rushes over. She travels in vents in the floors and ceilings, occasionally dripping her spit into puddles on the ground (gross). You can't hurt or outrun her. The best you can do is hide, so I have spent a good chunk of time hiding in a locker. I always try to look everywhere in games, but I'm usually trying to get to where I need to go without getting killed since there are no autosaves, only the occasional save point.
I love how they kept with the look of the Alien movies. Even though we know that future tech won't be teeny black screens with pixelated green letters, that's how it is here. It's very consistent, so it feels like it fits perfectly in the timeline somewhere.
I have the add-on that'll let me play as Ellen Ripley, but I haven't started it yet.
**Edit:
I have a flamethrower! Oh, this has made it so much easier! And what's really funny is when I need Melaina (my cat, for anyone who hasn't seen her) to move, but she won't, I take a body spray bottle or an air spray can and point it at her. I never spray her of course, but she is offended by the sounds they make and she runs off. Spraying the alien causes the same thing! Just one spritz and it runs off into a vent!
